When Obi-wan said to Anakin "You'll be the death of me," in ep II was that line there because Anakin does kill Obi-wan or because Obi-wan was generally making an unfunny joke?

kamikz
I think it was just some foreshadowing...

aj_vader
its irony wink

Tarvos
Yer, aj's right.

Sesse
Gorge Lucas decided that is was appropriate. But ObiWan intended it as a Joke!

Tangible God
Obi-Wan meant it as a joke, Lucas meant it as foreshadowing, the majority of audiences saw it as semi-funny irony.

It's something people who have seen the OT first are supposed to get and laugh at in a bitter way. I actually think George meant it as a joke but Obi didn't.

Yes, it's very ironic, irony, that is.
