Ok, so i've recently been rereading Dante's Divine Comedy and as those of you who've played the game probably know, the bosses Scarmigllione, Cagnazzo, Barbariccia, Rubicante, and Calcabrina are named after demons patrolling malbolgia, the 8th lair of hell in the Inferno.
Now my edition actually features translations of those demon names and when you look at their final fantasy incarnations, the translations get kinda funny at times.

Rubicante-
In the game he is a red demon in a cloak and helm who uses fire.
Rubicante means "he who grows red"
pretty good

Cagnazzo-
In the game he is a weird, giant, one-eyed blue turtle who walks on all fours.
Cagnazzo means dog's snout.
Ok...kind of a stretch, but still ok.

Scarmiglione-
In the game he's a shadowy, cloaked figure who is a horrible, tentacled corpse.
Scarmiglione means snatcher.
Perfect

Here's where it gets funny

Calcabrina-
In the game, Calcabrina is a giant, female baby doll.
Calcabrina means he who walks on brine.

Barbariccia-
In the game she is a barbaric looking, but rather attractive woman in a bikini.
Barbariccia means curly beard.

Maybe she doesn't shave her pubes?
thoughts? giggles?
