Remember the belt doubles Thor's strength.

Doesn't really need it. He'd still kill Hulk. He can still command the storms.

You're implying that the Hulk could take on Thanos? Hulk looses this one badly, not only Thor might surpass him in strength now but the fighting skills of the Thunder God are easily above those of the Hulk.

Thor can summon godblasts without the Mjolnir. Ask Durok The Demolisher. A being who use to manhandle Normal Thor and Silver Surfer at the same time. But Thor did kill Durok with a godblast nonetheless. Without his Mjolnir. Hulk is screwed.

Maybe I missed something from these scans, but it seems to me like Durok was the one releasing the energy blasts, whilst Thor was kinda directing those blasts back to their source by controlling Durok's aim.

As for Fenris getting blasted: was that from Thor? Again, not clear. What do the following panels show?

Also, I'm not aware of any official Thor bios which state he can release energy w/o Molneer. If there is such official info, please post.

Cool scans, thanks. However, can someone post official/canon text stating Thor (regular, not eye-beam RKT) can release energy w/o Molneer, or show a pic where he is clearly doing so?

(Interestingly enough, when Thor first appeared in the early '60s, he could fire lightning from his hands...but that ability was quickly dropped.)

Scoobless
He can still control storms and lightning without the hammer.... not 100% sure about other energy blasts... but the Godforce should come from within him

OK, stupid question... who is Beta Ray Bill? Can someone give me a bio on him?

Even with slight less versatility from mjolnir, Thor still wins. His might doubled, and still has command of the storm & lightning to strike Hulk down.

I have the same book. Thor isn't wearing the belt of strength, and is distracted because he's worried about hurting civilians in the brawl, while Hulk doesn't care. Thor wasn't giving it his all, which happens often because he tries to take Hulk down without killing him, which is hard.

Apparently Thor putting a tree trunk through the Hulk's body using one arm and without the belt of strength or a hammer (not like he had an arm to carry it with) wasn't enough evidence that this comparison is too one-sided.

Having said that, the self-doubting scatter-brained multiple-personality Thor of old would probably would have had a tough time putting down the hulk even with the belt of strength as he never would have gone all out against a mortal and risk killing him.

GodofThunder
I think Thor has this one I mean without the belt i would be harder but I think Hulk would still lose but with the belt ouch.....We are forgetting that it weakens him but meh that will be after the big green machine gets a beat down from hell....and for everyone who is like omg why does he get beat up by Hulk most of the time please remember that banner is a good freind of his and there are always civilians around he wouldnt want to kill any of them so instead he takes some for the team instead of killing Banner and the helpless......

Multiple-personality Thor (or MPThor) would always stop short of landing the killing blow and intead stand around and ask hulk if he is ready to give up. Even Ultimate Thor suffers from this. Therefore the Hulk, due to his tremendous healing ability, endurance and complete disregard for the lives of others would just attack again and again and again until he has the advantage. A Thor that is willing to kill is an entirely different proposition.

Yeah I think forumites tend to be more "educated" than the average consumer of comics but he really deserves to play a larger role in the marvel universe.

Thor couldn't beat the Hulk in a straight up fist fight. And he even admitted that Hulk was stronger(yet less powerful) than him. Thor with the Belt Of Strength would require Hulk to reach a higer level of rage, but it can be done. The Hulk has overpowered stronger enemies than Thor.

(Eventhough Thor isn't his enemy)

Really? He took on Power Gem Drax and Maxam single handedly and knocked them out easily. Are you saying Hulk could do this?

Thor who is willing to use deadly force is very different from the self-doubting, multiple-personality Thor who is constantly restraining himself when he is around mortals.

When was this? When did Thor say "hulk is stronger than me but I am more powerful"?

Like who?

How can you reach a higher level of rage if youre already filled with nothing but rage?

A fight is a fight, a win is a win, whether it's by fists, hammer, or lightning. Because Hulk can't use a magic hammer and channel God-powered lightning, that's his problem. It's why he logically shouldn't win. ( And Wolverine - logically - shouldn't be able to hang with the Hulk, but that's comics for you...)

GodofThunder
Guys this isnt fair this is 2 different leagues guys Class 2 being Thor....and Hulk more like Class 3-4

As previously posted, Thor can still use his powers without the hammer, so unless this is a boxing match than the Hulk can't win this one.

Hulk has beaten Thor five times? He has certainly shown he was more savage in his attacks, more willing to kill, but in all of Hulk-Thor history, never has the Hulk been shown to physically over power Thor. Even in the story you provided, Hulk practically ambushed Thor after they crossed over to this dimension after having been soundly beaten in the other dimension. In all the fights (save one), what we do see is a Thor who repeatedly gains the advantage but fails to strike the killing blow. The one exception being the story where Thor decided that they were too closely matched physically and had no choice but to kill the Hulk in order to win, and, of course, he did so quite easily in the end.

On the other hand, we see what Thor can really do in the Blood and Thunder series when with no "belt of strength" or other augmentation, solely under his own power, he takes people as strong or stronger than the Hulk (like BRB, Silver Surfer, Maxam and Power Gem boosted Drax) and treats them with utter disdain.

The official score is 5-2 in favour of Hulk.

But in one of the confrontations, Thor went all out against the mindless Hulk, which resulted in a stalemate. As do most of their fights except a few:

Amusingly, Thor had succumbed to the Warrior's Madness for this fight and went berserk on Young Maestro. Eventually, YM had to save him by "punching him away from groundzero". YM took the full force of Thor and used it.

Ofcourse, Thor practically raped Professor Hulk to no end. But then again, he is pretty much everybody's *****

Oh and yes, I guess you could say Hulk took Thor by surprise. But using lightning bolts in the middle of a physical fight is lower on the ladder, in my book.

exactly and in almost all of them Hulk snuck a punch or he was mad because Thor was trying to calm him down and talk to him because he doesnt want to hurt him in one of those Thor even apologized because he had to KO Hulk I mean he really like Banner there good freinds

leonidas
yeah, slightly biased. in that same 2001 annual thor alos put hulk down a couple times. funny how those don't count for thor . . .

w/o hammer, imo hulk will usually win if he's done well. w/belt it would be interesting. i really don't know. hulk would increase almost immediately after being struck once, but could he match him fast enough, i'm not sure. theoretically i'd say yes, but given how even they've been shown to be without the belt, i don't think it bodes too well for hulk. current hulk would likely get stomped. classic savage would still be a great fight imo.

thor using all his powers kills hulk any and everytime.

I agree that he isn't completely unbiased. But it's sort of a step up from most other fan sites. Hulk or not. And thor didn't have to KO Hulk to win, he just did. Had he just temporarily stopped Hulk like Hulk did Thor, it would've been enough. Because let's face it, 8/10 Hulk-thor fights end in either a draw or one of the two hitting the curb while the other one leaves. So I think this guy isn't being unreasonable to Thor.

jgiant
I'll just say this...thor cannot win unless he uses his command over the elements...even if thor is beefed up, he better ko hulk early and i mean sucker punch him as soon as he turns into hulk, cuz i don't think even a beefed up thor can take hulk in a brawl...hulk should not be beaten by physical force...

So what's the point? How many things in comic are consistent. Hulk get knock out by lightning bolt is possible; so isn't hulk taken a full blast from galaxy master without going down.

When he beat the Dark Gods he projected it from his own body but to do so he had to recite all of shakespears sonnets backwards while doing the moonwalk while standing on his arms. But he wouldnt need to do all that to beat the hulk. He just has to lose his inhibitions when it comes to fighting mortals.

Not upset but saying anyone below Celestial level is a bit too much hyperbole. There are plenty of people on this forum who will then use that as reference to say even more absurd things about the hulk. Thanos, Odin, Galactus, etc are all below Celestial level and all would utterly thrash Hulk in a pure fist fight.

I should add that if we go by best showing then Odin has feats that are above what we have seen from individual celestials.

1. You thinking galactus is above celestial has lowered your credibility greatly.

2. In a brawl, hulk would put up a good fight with anyone of those listed,(beside galactus)but i'll admit he'll lose more often than not. But if they can feel pain, then hulk can inflicted.
