Captain Jack's real name was Jack Smith and he was born in India on 25 october. At one point he was employed by the EITC, performing odd jobs for Cutler Beckett on the ship Wicked Wench. After refusing to transport slavesBeckett sank his ship and branded him a pirate. Later, Jack Sparrow petitioned Davy to retrieve his ship that he had rechristened The Black Pearl.

The continuation of the story arc will apparently see Jack dead upon the Pearl while Will, Liz, Tia and Barbossa rush to save him and the black pearl. When Davy Jones realizes that Jack is alive he uses all methods in his power to bring Jack and the Pearl back to the depths. It has been confirmed that Jack will cross paths with his father Grant Sparrow.

Jack believes himself to be a ladies' man, explaining that he has a "intuitive sense of the female creature"; however, he is seemingly unable to commit to a long term relationship. Most the women he has swept of his feet are not so happy and tend to slap him or anyone looking for him. Sparrow often uses Eunach as an insult (to Will). In the second film he says "Eunach-y snip snip"
