USH'S MATRIX GAME 2006- Training Mission

Ok, the background for this has been set out in the Zion thread. A reminder:

1. You are in two teams, Shez and Percy

2. You enter the Chinese-style complex by different doors at the front. Inside are 'bad things', but you know no other geography other than that your seperate paths meet up somewhere in there

3. At the very end is a door. First team to get a player through the door wins

4. The door has three keys. There are three Guardians (each duplciated, so there is a set of three for each team), each of which holds one of the keys. You need a set of three to get through, taken either from a Guardian or a Player.

5. Once you start playing seriously competitively, all orders get routed through your team leader.

From the large weapon tables just outside the main building, yopu may take your choice of weapons.

Some reminders:

1. All weapons give encumbrance

2. Certain powers do not work unless your encumbrance is UNDER the stated level

3. Your maximum encumbrance is 12

4. Don't forget to carry either spare guns or leave room for ammo

Tiny: 0, but two Tinies count as a Small.
Small: 1
Medium: 2
Large: 4
Very Large: 8


Knife/knives: Damage 2, Tiny, Type- Knife

Nunchaku: Damage 2, Small, Type- Nunchaku

Staff: Damage 2, Large, Type- Spear

Dual Staves: Damage 2, Small, Type- Twinned

Sais: Damage 2, Medium, Type- Twinned

Hook Swords: Damage 3, Large, Type- Twinned

Twinned Swords: Damage 3, Large, Type- Twinned

Spear- Damage 4, Large, Type- Spear

Sword- Damage 4, Large, Type- Sword


Light pistol (e.g. Glock 17)- Damage 1, Small, Ammo 6 (tiny clips)

Light Machine Pistol (e.g. Glock 19)- Damage 1, Small, Ammo 3 (tiny clips), Burst Fire

Machine Pistol (e.g. Uzi, Ingrams)- Damage 1, Medium, Ammo 4 (tiny clips), Burst Fire

Extended Glock 19- Damage 1, Medium, Ammo 6 (small clips), Burst Fire

Large Pistol (e.g. Desert Eagle)- Damage 2, Medium, Ammo 3 (tiny clips)

Sub-machine gun (e.g. H&K MP5)- Damage 2, Large, Ammo 5 (small clips), Burst Fire

Shotgun- Damage 3*, Large, Ammo 8 (medium clips), bonus die pool at close range

Assault Rifle (e.g. M16)- Damage 3*, Very Large, Ammo 5 (small clips), Burst fire

No. TMP fires 800-900 rounds per minute, which is too fast for a light machine pistol.

But, it doesn't escape the constaints of a machine pistol really, So I'm changing it to a FN P90.

Carrying ammo is useful if you're only going to take one or two guns. Otherwise, you're better to just pull a Neo and carry around a shitload of guns. Just different styles, is all.

Ok, let's get a couple of ground rules down here.

It's been a long time since we did a big fight on these forums, in any franchise.

Lots of people means that just a couple can really slow things down if they are not around. That being the case, I normally push the action forward and let people catch up wuith lost turns when they get back.

A number by your name, before your MA and Guns scores, indicates what turn you are on, as opposed to the current turn at the top of the turn report.

However, I will act to prevent abuse of this system. You cannot take actions that you wouldn't have known to take when you would have acted. So if you are four turns behind and your friends just got amushed on the current turn, you cannot suddenly take four actions to attack the ambush- you wouldn't have known it was there.

This is doubly tricky in the Matrix as regards Refreshes- I'll look down on people taking advantage of knowing a refresh is coming up.

This is a stress test for all of us, so let's see how it goes.

If peope could tell me their starting cache please... what you find behind the first door will be a mystery when you choose that.

Also a question, with twinned swords, can I attack two mooks at once? If so I shall do that against the two nearest, otherwise I'll just attack one nearest with one sword.

Ush, I've over-equpped, I should only have one Ingram, and 8 clips, 2 ingrams and 8 clips plus shotgun is too much for me to carry, and its pointless as I don't have BGB...

Burn has a very faded Megadeth Shirt on, and a fedora with a very large white feather stuck in it. (This is something new, I'm gonna discribe his shirt and hat at the start of every mission because its cool, and will change.)

Recap: The two separate teams, in two separate rooms, are shooting and slashing the crap outta a bunch of mooks.

Ok, in turn 1, only the Gunners get to fire.

12 dice worth of Gunnery from Azrael is certainly a blazing kill!

Burn, meanwhile, is rather used to the Coppterop Killing business. That said, his second attack does not go as planned; he scores one kill.

Cloud- yes, they can attack two Mooks; it also breaks up group attacks on you a little.

Klez-o-the-endless-ammo blows a guy away.

Just the one target I am afraid, Brit. And one kill.

Ares returns to his long rivalry with Burn, and opens up some carnage. Still, his attack goes the same way as Burn's! Three kills between the two of you.

A kill for Firewall...

Not really holding over turns at this point, in the intiial confusion. I do have what I am calling five attacks per person on the left, six on the right. I shall combine such gunfire hails into single attacks with +2 pool on the left, +3 on the right. That gives a fairly even spread of two or three dice attacks on everyone. If you have been hit, I will let you know.

Card is Joker. An immediate refresh, totally wasted.

I shall now proceed to turn two, repeating firing orders and then putting the close combat attacks intomoperation. Players win Initiative again. If people want to change loadouts, you have two turns of changes you can ask for.

Hawk, I note you have Silver Prince loaded- as it is useless to you, I have given you a sword also, but that reduces your ammo availability. However, I am also having to skip your go due to it being unclear what you are doing.

More Azrael death...

This time, two kills from Burn.

Cloud rips away two foes with ease! Barbarossa likewise.

Klez kills another, and Melis' pole of doom strikes!

PC doesn't really do anyting against unarmoured Mooks, San. You get a kill!

Helios goes head chopping... and does so!

More death from Sirin...

Heph, down pool from a Kick, fails to make a kill. You have VG loaded and asked to do a kick. Again, clarity is important.

Ares rejoins the world of competence alongside Burn with two kills! And Firewall blasts down another.

Slightly late to the fight, Falcon's SMG scores a kill.

Mors, after a few glances to make sure everyone is alright, finishes this turn's carnage with a sword stroke.

That leaves us quite even! Pool +2 attacks on all.

Oh, and why another sword? SP doesn't work with two swords? And can't I just sheathe one if I really need to?

I didn't know what you were attacking with because you have multiple sources loaded and no clarification, and to your other two questions, no and no. You can't use Jade Emperor or Silver Prince with a dagger, nor can you use it with a short sword. The Paths clearly refer to what weapon type they work with; the weapon list clearly marks what type of weapon they are.

As Cloud has done, you need to split your twins as one large and one small (final encumbrance 6) to have both twinned and Sword options.

Klez continues his very steady and ammo-efficient run.

Being unsure about Sirin's plans, I took ammo out of random guns. The roll was appalling anyway and went nowhere. One swap at a time, Brit!

Burn is doing fine- much killing!

Helios rolls crap until the last three dice come up 6s. Neat!

Cloud also makes efficient use of a crap roll on a wounded mook, and gets a decent kill as well.

I don't understand your instructions, Azrael, so you just blast away another Mook. Keep track of your turn number!

Generally yes.

Except slow ones. The best way to look at it is that slow powers refresh at the same time you reaching a healing point- so after ALL action in an entire story segment has finished.

This means if you tap a slow power before a combat, it won't come back to you until the combat is over.
