Alright, here's how it works. This should produce interesting results.

Post your top five favorite actors (in order, if you can), and after each actor, type out your favorite two movies that that actor starred in.

Be sure to give PLENTY of reasons why wherever you see fit.

Example:

1) Insert Actor Name Here
- Insert Movie Title (with said actor) Here.
- Insert Movie Title (with said actor) Here.
2) Insert Actor Name Here
- Insert Movie Title (with said actor) Here.
- Insert Movie Title (with said actor) Here.

And so forth...

Anyway, the concept's not that hard, I just wanted to make sure it was fully understood.

So, have at it!

Dusty
1) Toshiro Mifune
- Yojimbo
- Seven Samurai
2) Clint Eastwood
- The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
- The Outlaw, Josey Wales
3) Christian Bale
- Batman Begins
- The Prestige
4) Harvey Keitel
- Reservoir Dogs
- Pulp Fiction

The Core
1) Johnny Depp

- Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas
- Ed Wood

He's easily the most versatile actor of all time. It's not often when an actor can take to so many different roles and still be as convincing no matter what he does.

2) Nicolas Cage

- Matchstick Men
- Bringing Out the Dead

Nic's versatile as well, but he's a signature charisma in all his movies, namely because of his drawl. Just very easy, but tense at the same time. He's just very entertaining, and always has a real subtle James Dean like bad boy quality to him.

3) Mark Wahlberg

- Rock Star
- The Italian Job

Mark's been a favorite of mine ever since he scared the hell out of me in "Fear". I am so glad that people got past the whole "Marky Mark" deal and saw that he has some acting chops. Always entertaining, and takes to the tough guy role more verbally than physically, which works just as well.

4) Ed Norton

- American History X
- Primal Fear

Diversity in roles is important to me here, too, and Ed's just as good. I picked these two movies because they're his two strongest performances. "American History X" first because he was eerily convincing, as if he had led such a lifestyle before the movie. "Primal Fear" because it's got one of the best twists I've ever seen, and I was sold on the emotional innocence of his character, and still would be, even having seen the movie 3 times, and knew the ending before hand.

There's more..but those are probably my top 4..

SnakeEyes
Nice choices, guys.

Keep em coming!

I might post mine later.

Good list ^

I enjoy very much hearing peoples' reasons for choosing who they do.

Röland
No particular order.

1.Edward Norton
- Fight Club
- American History X

No matter what character he plays, he plays that character to perfection IMO.

2.Bill Paxton
- Aliens
- Near Dark

I loved him in Aliens and he was hilarious in Near Dark. One of the most under rated actors ever.

3.Tim Robbins
- Jacob's Ladder
- The Shawshank Redemption

He always makes the audience feel for his character and does a great job doing so.

4.Hugo Weaving
- The Matrix
- V for Vendetta

He has a certian quality about him that I like.

5.Christian Bale
- American Psycho
- Batman Begins

Like Ed Norton, I feel he plays his characters extremely well. He had Patrick Bateman down perfectly.

Wow, hard question! Not so much to pick my 5 faves, but to only pick TWO of the movies that I like them in.

In no order:

Liam Neeson
-Schindlers List
-Batman Begins/Episode I (pretty much the same character, one just goes bad)

Morgan Freeman
-Shawshank Redemption
-Driving Miss Daisy (yeah I said it, sue me)

Samuel L. Jackson
-Pulp Fiction
-187 (tie with Jackie Brown)

Tom Hanks
-Saving Private Ryan
-Forrest Gump

Christian Bale
-Equilibrium
-Rescue Dawn/Batman Begins

Impediment
Bruce Campbell
-Evil Dead 2
-Army of Darkness

Steve Buscemi
-Reservoir Dogs
-The Big Lebowski

Kevin Spacey
-American Beauty
-The Usual Suspects

John Candy
-Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
-Uncle Buck

Gene Wilder
-Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
-Young Frankenstein

SkinWalker
Halle Berry
-Swordfish
-Monster's Ball

She has fans, there are never many here, but I still love her. Sure people blame her for Catwoman and Storm, but it isn't all her fault. She doesn't have great movie choices, but when she gets a good one, she does it right.

Natalie Portman
-V for Vendetta
-Garden State

Defiantly one of the most talented young actresses of this age. She picks interesting and diverse choices, not just picking big blockbuster or american films.
_______________

Those are the only two actors that I like, so that's all I put.

5. Wesley Snipes
-Blade
-Blade II

Al Pacino

-The Godfather Part II

papabeard
Johnny Depp
Paddy Considine
Paul Giamatti
Timothy Spall
Alec Guiness

Callan
In no particular order:

Liam Neeson
Love Actually
Schindler's List

Liam's such a wonderful, versatile actor and it was hard pinning down just two of his movies that I really enjoyed. Love Actually was a great film with an excellent ensemble cast, but I managed to enjoy Liam's story just a little bit more than the rest. And Schindler's List was the one that made me fall in love with him and his acting, so that had to go up there as well.

Harrison Ford
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
The Fugitive
I think I like Indy just a little bit better than Han Solo, which is why I chose The Last Crusade over The Empire Strikes Back. And I absolutely loved Harrison's performance as Dr. Kimble and his chemistry with Tommy Lee Jones.

Cary Elwes
Robin Hood: Men in Tights
The Princess Bride
Such a handsome, dashing actor is Mr. Elwes. Sure he's done serious, dramatic stuff, but he really shines when he's at his comedic best. These two movies really show him at the peak of his comedic and romantic ability.

Johnny Depp
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
Benny and Joon
I don't think I really need to explain my first choice. smile As for the second, there were a myriad number of films to choose from as Depp's done pretty much every genre under the sun and done them all very well. But I especially loved him in Benny and Joon, portraying a simple-minded but kind-hearted eccentric with a taste for Buster Keaton antics. That completely won me over.

Tom Hanks
A League of Their Own
Big
Another one of those versatile actors who make picking favorite movies quite difficult. In the end, I decided I liked his portrayal of irascible manager Jimmy Dugan and his quirky, effervescent role as the adult Josh Baskin the best.

Other actors/actresses that are definitely worth a mention are Mel Brooks, Jennifer Connelly, Matthew Broderick, Christian Bale, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, Katharine Hepburn, Audrey Hepburn, Mariska Hargitay, Milla Jovovich, Robin Williams, Denzel Washington, and a whole lot more. But I've probably already said enough. smile

1.) Kevin Spacey - an absolute joy to watch, passionate about his work and I believe one of the most natural talents in modern cinema.

2.) Edward Norton - brilliant actor, I haven't ever seen him not hold a role and make it entirely his own.

3.) Jack Nicholson - a brilliant actor, he can make you empathise with his character one minute and fear them the next, seemingly effortlessly.

4.) Tom Hanks - the man has comedy and drama on lock.

5.) Robin Willams - another who can make you both laugh and cry, an incredibly funny man who can pull of some of the best dramatic scenes.
