They both have swords and shields and helmets. Fight in Roman gladiator style coliseum.

Russel Crowe takes a spear in the face.

Leonidas, though brought up by the movie, is comic in origin, as far as this fight is concerned.

Maximus is not.

Oh, and as far as the fight goes, Maximus never displayed skills on the level of ANY Spartan - much less Leonidas, who was portrayed as one of the BEST.
