ok, big leap...not checked many of the forum residents, but im pretty sure theres at least 2 ppl from UK here.....including me. so here it goes
UK film, filled with the creme of UK comedy actors. Spoof Zombie film but not 1 of those passe (fancy word, if only my review was good enough to warrant it) "Scary Movie" style spoofs, its actually pure class.... ud have to be English to appreciate the comedy imo, since we have a different sense of humour to the rest of the world. but the timing and quality of the jokes are spot on, to the tee, perfect, ill stop there.
neway, the film itself is actually surprisingly good, lacks a bit of story line (but seriously....its a comedy Zombie movie...2 of the most notoriously bad genre's for story line, mixed into 1 - i was impressed that the characters all had names tbh)
The actors are top quality, actually managing to pull off actual drama acting, while still keeping comedy intact.
all in all, id say its a top quality movie, and any sane British (checks the British/English thread...yup British will do) person should check it out, i garuantee it will be worth the money and bus fare down there :P
oh, and all u ppl from other countrys....well....erm, u can watch it if u want

claidisa_felton
im from the uk

woo hoo! i really wanna c shaun of the dead...and i luv british humour

burlyman
ive seen it twice

thursday and friday night
it was so fecking funny... the serious (not funny) stuff starts getting layed in since theyre all in the car,

, but there are still loads more funny moments!
when davids guts are ripped out was lush

and also the hole in mary
its surprisingly believeable :s because theyre all down to earth typical people :P
The Queen bit was awesome

<<Solo>>
Sounds Good.I'm waiting for it here in the U.S. I believe it doesn't come out till June though.
mmmmmm_ob :)

Shaun of the dead is not a cinematic film it is a tv show,,,, bad film ! the narrative almost stops in the middle. the creators of this film are comedy sketch greats but lack the conviction of carrying comedy the lenght of a feature film.
kiyana_ayame
I've seen this film twice now and i loved it both times. It is really funny but not stupid like Scary Movie it really is just amazing and i'd reccomend it to anyone.
burlyman
A teacher at my school used to know the director

I just watched this movie. Very enjoyable. Lots of fun. Even had some nice gorey scenes.
Mabius*Emz
If its gorey i wanna see it lol bring on the gore!!
slayer
I'm gonna see it when it comes out in aust.

matchbox_dan
It was an ok film but nothing special. The best thing about it was that it had ever British comidy actor in it!
Plus Nick Frost rules! He told us how to stop terrists taking over your bus in 'Danger! Incoming Attack'. For those people who didnt see him in action; you have to take off one of your socks and fill it with everybodys lose change and then smack the terrist over the head with it!
BRILLIANT!!!!!
Elisha Cuthbert is fit

This movie was great. I have never liked a zombie movie until now. Zombie movies are usually pointless gore and not scary (well, they at least aren't scary to me). This movie was hillarious and yet it still follows the general formula of a zombie movie. No cheap spoof jokes making fun of other movies either, just original humor. The gore was quite impressive as well. I especially liked when the ******* got ripped to pieces and had his intestines eaten. The dialog and morals of the movie were much better than normal zombie movies as well. Their was more depth to these characters and more character developement as well. Shaun goes from a lazy son of a ***** to a hero as well as getting his life together in the sense of his relationship with his girlfriend. Along with that, the stereotypical message of zombie movies portraying society as 'zombies' is much more clear.

I just saw the movie last night and I thought it was great. All the points you made above apply to me.Especially, when the ******* got it.God was that satisfying.

After all the fuss about Shaun of the Dead I finally got to see it yesterday. What can I say? I love the humor and It was funny so I'm very pleased with the movie. I gotta a feeling that this character of Shaun is destined to star in many future films, and why not? I like the character and I find him to be next Mr. Bean!
Now, don't let the statement above make you think I'm comparing both Mr. Bean and Shaun! I think both characters are unique and have their own style of comedy. I love them both. That's why I'm requesting the British to please PLEASE create more characters like Mr. Bean and Shaun. I'm just getting to be a fan!
The movie was funny but only one thing I didn't quite comprehend why did it seen that the movie slow down a bit during the Winchester pub? Was it to show that the character of Shaun is a sentimental person? I can understand the whole thing with shooting your own mother......but was it necessary? Still, that didn't make me get side track. I still love it.
My favorite joke in the movie didn't involve any zombies. For me it was the whole "there is no I in team.....but in pie like meat pie" (sorry if I misquoted but I laughing during that time)
I had laughs and I found myself attracted to the movie. Very good film I defenetly recommend it for everyone to go see. Great stuff! I'm looking forward to more Shaun movies in the future.
I rate it at 4 out of 5.

i dont usually like movies that contain zombies wether it be funny /horror .. but to me this was quite well done even if its british through and through
BackFire
I was fortunate enough to pick this movie up in July on a bootleg DVD that I bought for 20 bucks. Needless to say, I agree with all of the other positive reviews on this film. It's great. What can I say? See it, you'll probably like it too.
Cinemaddiction
Totally disappointed.
Nearly totally inaudible dialogue, elementary "humor", slow and plodding build up to absolutely nothing. It was WAY too heavy on the "romantic" cheese factor, and it felt a little contrived, as if it were added just to merit the romantic comedy with zombies bill.
Had some typical Dead trilogy homages, "We're coming to get you Barbara", the bald flannel/jean jacket "Dawn" zombie, and the Rhoads "Day" disembowlment reenactment at Winchester were fun, though. Too bad the rest was just too slow and uninvolving to maintain my interest.
Nice swipe at "28 Days Later" towards the end. Too bad it's a far more superior film than "Shaun".

If this is British humor, you chaps must be easily amused.
5/10

Common, 't Deserves a lot more then 5 out of 10.
Probably 8/10 for me. Great, Hillarious. Especially the "David getting his stomach ripped open" scene in some gorey way that was tottally hillarious,
Cinemaddiction
I didn't think it was atall funny. Same thing happened to Rhodes in "Day of the Dead", and it was just another cliched, obligatory "homage", with little to offer in the way of originality.
Romance and horror are like oil and water.
Myth
It is called a British accent.

Phoenix Aska
i thought this movie had it's funny parts...
The funniest part is when that fat guy got out of the car and said "whats up *******?" in that british accent....
Note- I'm not racist
<<Solo>>
It wasn't even really a romance.
furryman
I love how Americans dont get British humor

Peeves-04
british are awesome for making films
Cinemaddiction
Someone care to tell me what "British humor" there was to get? Was it the little swipe at the Queen..calling each other ***** or wankers..err...? Like I said, if the overall comedic "feel" of the movie is the humor one is supposed to grasp, it's piss poor, and totally unfunny.
Red Superfly
Got a bug stuck up your backside or something?
Cinemaddiction
Nope, just curious, since us "Yanks" seem to be so oblivious to a form of "humour" no one ever bothers explaining.
carlarainbird
i really enjoyed this movie. I had no expectations having not seen any fof the promotion stuff, and just happened to stumble apon it in the cinema.
But i am so glad that i did because in my eyes this is the funniest, smartest british movie in a long time. Finally, we've made a movie that is up there with the greats in american cinema.
I cannot rave about this movie enough.
GO SEE!!!!!!
Cinemaddiction
Any takers on explaining "British humor"? Anyone? Bueller?
*Georgina_A*
Really enjoyed this film. Very funny. I like the way it's not completely a spoof and that it's also got serious bits too.
wicker_man
Any film with Goblin (i.e. Dawn of the Dead) induced music and taking the 'mick' out of townies, gets a high recommendation in my books.
*Danii*
British humour is amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ONE correction though people, they all had ENGLISH accents APART from the lady with the ponytail who had the BEST accent in the WORLD (that would be Scottish)
Morpheus

Wheres the soundtack?

*Danii*
Prolly in a shop. I'd try Virgin or HMV personally. .
Its got queen on it, hasn't it? I LOVE that song!
koolruningz
Im not sure if you can explain British humour any more than you can explain American humour. For me its got more to do with moments that you can relate to and evoke a humorous response. I find some American and some English humour amusing for different reasons, English humour i think is less obvious if you havent lived there and experienced the people (i spent my first 24yrs in London). I wouldnt worry about trying to understand british humour, its not going to suddenly make you laugh out loud when you watch the movie. The bits i found funniest were things that are part of the culture that reminded me about growing up and living in London. It had nothing to do with the Zombie humour really. You either find it funny or you dont. It doesnt really matter either way.
tabby999
you may rubbish it C-Dic but wern't you the one who thought 28 Days Later was shit when you first saw it

now your defending it in this very thread!
Cinemaddiction
That's because I took the movie for face value, and didn't bother going any deeper, and I should have, because it's an important movie.
I don't think I could benefit from a second viewing of this one. The two elements never mixed, I didn't find anything humorous about it, and the main characters were rather annoying.
I'm pretty set in my opinions when it comes to "comedy".
Kip
this movie is one of the best zombie movies ive seen and it wasnt a spoof it was a horror with comedy in it if you look at all the special features and i mean all you will see that it wasnt a spoof
ericadurancefan
i really enjoyed this movie it was funny and scary at the same time i mean i loved it when they were acting like zombies making their way through all of them,i laughed my head off and it was awesome
dean7879
whuusup niggas!!?
cal31
greatest part " Don't stop me now".
BlackC@t
This was such a horrible movie!
Worst movie ever! yucky
And just what the Hell is 'British humor'?
Scary Movie was a thousand times better and funnier than this. Scary Movie was great!
Cinemaddiction
"Scary Movie" was typical teen humor garbage, IMO. I've learned that British humor is humor that's more situational, less contrived, and incredibly unpretentious like most American humor. It's usually a little more outrageous in nature, ostentatious, and intentionally far-fetched with situational irony.
Norma Jean
I completely agree. It's much more witty and intelligent too. Not the "WEENIEZ AHAHAHAHAHA BOOBIEZZ HAHAHAHA" type stuff that is Scary Movie.
Grand Moff Gav
Hello I have just seen Shaun of the Dead and it must have been the funniest film I've seen all year.God its Good.So who wants to go to the Winchester?
Haku_fan
shaun of the dead... such a good movie!!
§P0oONY
Shaun of the dead was Quint, It is funny the first few times you see it, but it is the kind of comedy threat just wears off after while... I like the fact that it featured basically the whole cast of Black Books. Simon Pegg, Dylan Moran, Tamsin Greig and Bill Bailey apparently featured as a Zombie.. although was never credited.
I enjoyed the film... and if I was asked if I wanted to watch it again. I would gladly accept. It's a pretty good "Rom Zom Com".
jaden101
i expected a lot more...the cast was tremendous but there were so many of them that none of them really shone through...dylan moran was crap in it...i guess i expected alot better given how good "Spaced" was
LiL nAstY GirL
The best part of the movie was when they were beating the zombie to the beat of "Don't Stop Me"
