And what's the point of number three? It's just a replication of number 2... it's not like they actually use their fists in real fights anyway.

Gandalf would win all three because he is a real wizard, whereas Dumbledore is from a fictitious book.

number two they stand at a distance and cast spells just like the battle between potter and malfoy in the movies.
number three is a combination of the two and allows for things such as melee with the wand/staff and such.

and to tiredhiker dumbledore was in movies as well ever heard of the warnerbrother's productions of harry potter?

... So you think that Dumbledore with a wand, which is a skinny stick that you can break with two fingers, would be a match for Gandy's staff which he slays orcs with?

Isn't Gandalf the white, Christ?

I mean, in the movies, i've only ever seen Gandalf turn his staff into a flashlight. I have seen Wizards do actual wizardly things in the Potter movies. Considering that, i would say Dumbledore would have a chance if it werent Gandalf the white.

The book version of Gandalf is slightly better (Creating lightning storms and teleporting and stuff), but I don't think either version would beat Dumbledore. Lord of the Rings magic is too subtle imo. It's not actively powerful and practical like Harry Potter's is.

yeah, i was just taking a shit. I always liked the LOTR movie's for not making Gandalf to powerful. You always feel relatively safe when Gandalf iss around, but that is because of his intelligence rather than his powers.

The magic classifications between the two seem completely different. The magic in middle Earth feels Earthy. It almost feels that the magic in Middle Earth follows basic rules. The magic in Hogwarts seems to be limitless, bound only by the Morals of the magic user. If i am being serious i would still have to give the Win to Dumbledore. From what we have seen him do, his abilities range from all different types of classifications. In a magic duel a wizard must always have the right spell to counter or negate the opponents spell. I dont know that Gandlaf would have enough Range to counter or negate Dumbledores arsenal. I do believe though, that even Gandalf the grey is a stronger conduit of energy. And with that, i have nerded out enough for the rest of my life
