John McClane versus Escape from New York....

Rogue Jedi
John McClane volunteers to save the day. He is selected in place of Snake Plissken to infiltrate NY city, find the president, and bring him out.

McClane parachutes out of a jet, things go wrong, (think Rambo in "Rambo 2"wink, and he loses all his gear on the way down. He is left with the following items:

A fully fueled zippo
A combat knife
A two way radio with Al on the other end

McClane must do all the things Snake did. Find where the president is being located, con Brain into taking him there, rescue the president. And, upon being captured by the Duke, he must fight the big hairy beast with the baseball bat, escape, make his way to the mined bidge, cross it, get the president out, pwn the Duke, and scale the wall to freedom.

McClane is dressed in black assault attire, and he is not injected with the neck explosive, but there is still the deadline for the Hartford summit.

I didn't give Mac a gun because, come on, it's the ****ing McClane. But OK, scenario two is the same as one, except McClane has an MP-5 with six mags.

Sadako of Girth
C'mon RJ.

McClane does stuff like that all the time before taking his first dump of the day.

And if McClane starts with no gun, he soon gets one. Like always. A master of acquisition.

Rogue Jedi
There weren't any guns in Manhattan prison. And no, he doesn't do "stuff like this" every day, man.

I think he'll clear, but he'll take a shitload more damage than Snake did.

Rogue Jedi
Mac has the homing device too. Forgot to mention that.

Sadako of Girth
And a fully fuelled zippo and combat knife, in addition to his ingenuity, cunning, skill and almost supernatural amounts of resiliance and luck.
Mac wins....

*End of thread.* Agreed, but how? Snake has experience in this type of scenario, whereas Mac does not. Plus Snake was helped out by people who knew him/idolized him.

Rogue Jedi
You know, the more I think on this, I think Mac has little chance of clearing in time, even fully armed. I'm tired, I'll explain later.

Sadako of Girth
No need. You're biased and probably a bit delusional. stick out tongue

Explanation f***ing over. smokin'

Thank you....come again.

Rogue Jedi
haermm Nah, you'll understand later when I explain. You might not admit it, but you'll get it.

Sadako of Girth
No thats cool...

"I made yet another thread in which I'd desperately love to see McClane lose in, despite all contradictory logic" is all you need to say.

Rogue Jedi
No, McClane probably clears, just not in the allotted time frame.

Snake met Cabbie, who knew who Snake was. This is the reason he waited for Snake at the mouth of the alley, this is the man who introduced Snake to Harold. Cabbie wouldn't know Mac, so Mac never would have entered his cab, never would have found out about Harold, never would have found out where the President was being held.

Snake was allowed to live by the Duke because the Duke knew who Snake was. The Duke would have killed Mac right away.

The only reason Snake cleared in the 24 hours is because of his connections inside. Had he not met those people, he still would have won, just taking more time.

Like I said, Mac would probably clear, he would only need more time, coupla days at least. It'd be alot more entertaining of a movie though with Mac at the helm, much more mayhem and destruction.

Sadako of Girth
A poor line of argument, RJ.

McClane is a famous cop. People have heard of him everywhere as established in all movies after the first.

And McClane probably wouldn't have been taken by Duke.
Duke'd be wearing a sedan up his ass.

McClane is an experienced New york cop and would have even more connections himself, for all you know.

And he always completes him mission in time to avert whatever tragedy is threatening at the time.

Rogue Jedi
Just stating the obvious. Snake completed his mission on time because of the people he knew or knew him. Mac was never shown knowing people like that, the element inside the prison. Different kind of connection.

Mac always completes his mission with the assistance of others. Others like cops, maintanence dudes, pawn shop brokers, etc;....NOT life term inmates.

Snake was the perfect choice for the mission because of who he was. No one, not even Rambo or Mills, Bourne nor Mac, could have done what he did in the allotted time frame. They could do it, find the President and bring him out, but they would need more time. Why?

Cabbie would not know them.
Cabbie would not take them to Brain.
They do not know Brain.
Brain would not have taken them to where the President was hidden.

BUT.....IF the President had held on to his homing device, yeah, any of them could have completed the mission in a matter of hours, two or three tops.

Sadako of Girth
That gimping is all assumption, people.
