Good director(it was a few weeks ago though that we knew he was directing). Pointless and not needed but since it's getting made, I'll check it out. At least, I hope, it can't be as bad as all the other terrible sequels.
You know who might be up for the lead role: Bradley Cooper.
Rogue Jedi
He might fit. I can see that.
MildPossession
I've read a lot of people want Cillian Murphy for the role.
MildPossession
That's nothing now, how long a film has been out. You can get remakes now just a year after the original has come out.
Kazenji
They should've based it another story instead of Eric Draven's one.

A Crow remake has more appeal I would think, as a another story and character would really be a sequel and probably would not get a cinema release. Again, it boils down to money. There should be a rule about waiting X amount of years or something to do a remake. I mean The Crow is only 17 years old or something!
Patient_Leech
Oh lord, is this for real?
Esau Cairn
The real question that begs to be asked, "Do you really want to trust an Executive Producer with the name of Tucker Tooley?"
Kazenji
Well if people have been keeping up with the news Stephen Norrington is out and then Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks later) hopped on board and then he left.
RyanEstabrooks
I seriously hope they just abandon this thing. Nobody wants it and to be honest, I doubt much of an audience would pay for it. I'm surprised that after the failure of Conan and Fright Night they haven't just given up. Oh well!

Luke Evans (Immortals, Fast & Furious 6, The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug) confirmed as the Crow:

I seen a while back something about Tom Hiddleston might be playing him
so its this Luke Evans guy from Immortals.

Bad idea. Loved the original but this won't work IMO.
BruceSkywalker
this will be shit.. pure and simple... no hope for this.... no hope at all

Why? Whats wrong with the original? seriously, can anyone point out a movie breaking flaw for me? i can't. i hope everyone involved in this movie dies a horrible death.

More to the point why does it have to be Eric Draven again?
there's various novels which don't even feature Eric.

prolly just to start with him and see where it goes
Robtard
Enjoyed the first back in the day. Will wait until I seen some footage and story. Luke Evans isn't any worst an actor than Brandon Lee, so that's a positive start.
the ninjak
Why can't the film be remade?
Sure the original was genre defining as a supernatural goth revenge flick.
But the sequels were terrible.

sounds like a conundrum

Creator James O'Barr to consult on the film

Luke Evan's has now dropped out, They should just don't bother with it all now.

I hear there might be a trailer for this?
The pictures have looked awful. I initially thought Bill Skarsgard was good casting, but maybe the director is a mismatch..?
Robtard
So you'll be watching it.

It looks like trash. But might be some violent fun with Bill Skarsgard. I think it's mainly the horrible haircut that was poorly thought out.
The trailer I saw was uber violent and I don't think there was any red band warning. 🤔
Kazenji
I don't get why they had to do Eric Draven again, There's been other people that have been The Crow
originality is too hard for Hollywood these days.

Remaking the drastically overrated will bring about expected results just like this. The missing secret ingredient was to kill the star on set. If Brandon Lee survived, he might have gone on to do great things, and ironically everyone would struggle to remember the silly 90's goth movie with massive forced-hype backing from the music industry
playa1258
Yeah critics are having a field day with this. Always thought the first was overrated.
Emo wrist cutters believe the first film is a messiah calling.

Yeah, a few years ago I tried to rewatch the original and I found I didn't really have the patience for it. It does seem a bit overrated.
Robtard
OMG! This film is amazing! Kill Bill 1&2 meets Goodfellas meets The Godfather 2 with a heavy Kurosawa influence! 11/10
BruceSkywalker
should i watch free of charge

I quite like the OG movie, Still holds up
can't say the same about this new movie the way its being received by critics. Seems like going to be forgotten about similar to the Robocop remake.

You're the second to make the 2014 Robocop remake connection, Kazenji. I heard the comparison on Reddit as well: that this is a decent-enough remake, but won't be received well enough by critics or audiences nor make enough money to be remembered.
I think The Crow and Dark City are two excellent films by Alex Proyas. I would always catch parts of the original Crow on TNT or MTV or whatever cable channel they played it on back in the day, and this movie is near the top of my list for want-to-see films for this year. I also thought Rupert Sanders' 2017 Ghost in the Shell was a good film, around a 7-7.5/10 flick, so I actually was pumped to find out he directed this Crow remake.
Hoping Rob's review isn't hyperbole above haha.
Patient_Leech
Oh I didn't realize it's the director of Ghost in The Shell. I actually rather liked that and wished it had done well enough to get a sequel.
Kazenji
I know the director has previously said its sticking closer to the comic, That might be good and all but the movie itself still needs to be good too.

Ya man, Ghost in the Shell got criticized way too harshly, I thought it was a really solid film. He did Snow White and the Huntsman (okay), Ghost in the Shell (really good), and now The Crow 2024. His directing style is excellent for effects-heavy movies, it immerses me in the action scenes and the story; funnily enough, reminds of Blade and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen's Stephen Norrington, who was long-rumored to direct this Crow remake. Just solid, well put together action-fantasy or sci-fi flicks. Hope he keeps getting work.

Yep, gotta make a good movie. I'm hoping this is another case of critics being too, well, critical, and audiences just skipping out, but the movie itself is still pretty good.

Careful, your opinion is upsetting someone

I remembering enjoying the original back in the theater, even a rewatch maybe a couple years later on VHS.
No idea how it's aged though.

2 weeks ago Borderlands was the worst movie of the year.
2 weeks later this is.
Lol
Robtard
I tried to watch Borderlands, but turned it off after 10 mins, pure shit. Then I watched The Crow, was slow and awful. Dosed off for about 30 mins, woke up and didn't bother watching the last 20 mins.

Dang, that bad Rob? I'll catch it on streaming eventually, such a disappointment if that's the case after years of back-and-forth on this remake.
Robtard
It's a complete waste of time imo
John Murdoch
Appreciate the response man. I'll check it out with lowered expectations then.

This is one of the worst movies i've seen in a very long time.

Finally watched on Starz. Absolutely and total garbage. Like Bill Skarsgaard as an actor and can't wait to see him in the MCU or DCU but Hollywood NEEDS to stop rebooting and remaking movies.
Bashar Teg
Robocop was the superior undead avenging cop film, though that remake was garbage as well.

The 90's is the new 80's for remaking films.
