Old Avengers:

1. Ironman

New Avengers:

1. Dr. Strange
2. Spiderman

7. Falcon


Fight takes place in in an open field and all combatants are armed with their standard gear. All are in a killing mindset. Team members have earpieces that allow them to communicate while in combat.

Round 1: Teams are given one day to practice team work together but they know nothing about the other team.

Round 2: Teams don't get any prep but they know everything about the other team (at least everything that we've seen in the movies so far).

Round 3: Similar to round 2 except Original Avengers gets bonus team member Loki and New Avengers gets bonus team member Antman.

1 aoe from Thor kills everybody but Vision in all 3 scenarios.

Old Avengers every single time...

Dr Strange and Wanda are powerful, but are too much of a glass canon (and honestly Dr Strange isn't even a glass cannon)...

Hulk and Thor on the same team is just too much...

Hulk and Thor win this for the old crew.

Black widow dies first every time

If we replaced Falcon with Antman instead, would new Avengers stand a better chance?

Hmmm. Good thread.

Dr. Strange still has the time gem, which would allow him to warp time and fix mistakes and try different maneuvers.

Vision still has the Mind gem...

Scarlet Witch is very powerful....

I'd go with team 2 for rounds 1&2.

Then Team 1 for round 3.

Have you considered Strange's ability to warp time? Or him bending reality?

Yeah Strange with the time stone can make a huge difference.

Vision is also formidable.

Thor can waste Vision with lightning.

Sorry forgot to include in OP, Strange doesn't have the time gem. Wouldn't be fair to include that in here. Combatants have standard gear, and the time gem isn't standard gear for Dr. Strange.

Agree.

Just to make it clear, Time Gem is standard gear for Strange. He is always wearing it. (But since you decided to exclude it, then Strange doesn't possess it).

Strange can still alter the fabric of reality.

I don't see how Old Avangers could handle that.

He used it once or twice in the movie then placed it back at the end of the movie IIRC. I'd hardly call that standard gear.

Only two characters who were actually bending buildings and such were the Ancient One and Kaecilius. Closest Strange personally came to reality manipulation, at least that I can recall, is when he turned the tea cup into a beer mug during the post-credits scene with Thor. Obviously, altering matter to such an extensive degree is extremely impressive, but we have yet to see how he can apply it inside an actual combat scenario. Hopefully we see a bit of what he can do in Thor: Ragnarok.

Strange can still be a massive pain for the other side if he works together with the other members of his team. If he has enough time to open a few portals, his team could start trying to BFR opponents.

He filled Thor's glass with more bear without a problem. That is alteration of reality.
