Which four have you seen? I know you've seen Dune 2, Wicked, and Conclave. What's the fourth?

I've only seen Anora, Conclave, Dune 2, and The Substance so far (all pretty excellent in my opinion).

The Brutalist and The Substance were good, Emilia Perez is an absolute joke of a film, it being nominated for anything other than a razzie is ridiculous.

I haven't finished the last act yet, but I'm surprised I don't hate it as much as some. I think the idea is at least a good one. I'm just going to have to see if it actually does something with the idea in the 3rd act instead of just more annoying musical numbers. If it progresses the plot instead of just adding more musical scenes.

Finished Emilia Perez.

I didn't hate it as much as most people. The 3rd act isn't exactly the direction I was hoping it would go in, but it at least did something with its premise. And most of the music is kept pretty brief.

I give it 7/10.

Omg, I liked Wicked. I can't believe it. Well, I liked everything except the singing, but even that I could forgive most of the time knowing that it's basically a musical play put to screen. One or two of the musical numbers were stimulation overload. But the story sucked me in with its contributions to the Wizard of Oz lore, the origin of the Wicked Witch of the West, timely and highly socially relevant plot elements, of course. And the two leads had tremendous chemistry, I thought.

If someone had told me it featured a talking goat (voiced by Peter Dinklage no less!!!) I probably would have rushed out to see it.

I did not like Nickel Boys. Apparently an historical atrocity obscured by poor choices in filmmaking. Had potential to be Shawshank Redemption esque, but decided to be artsy fartsy and incomprehensible and to even be vague and weird about hiding the apparent violence. That shit gets on my nerves. If it was bad the audience needs to know.

And f#ck, I don't think Brutalist and the Bob Dylan movie are going to go digital for another couple weeks. Like the 18th and 22nd or something.

Sonic 3 should be up for this or Paddington in Peru, Paddington and Sonic are the best actors.

Alright, so I watched The Apprentice about how the Mango Menace became the conman and pr!ck we know today. It's pretty fascinating. Not necessarily an incredible movie, but definitely worth a watch for the relevance and political intrigue that it inherently has. Pretty fascinating to see how he was shaped into such a destructive force, because I think the movie does give insight into that.


Also finally finished The Brutalist after 3 sittings. It's long. I didn't love it, but it definitely has some amazing actors in it and there are some things that happen that you won't entirely expect. Guaranteed. I think Guy Pearce is a severely underrated actor. To me he's Denzel Washington level, but is more low-key. But ultimately I didn't love it. 7/10 from me.


I still am waiting on I'm Still Here and A Complete Unknown.

I suspect Anora cleaned up because Emilia Perez gathered a bit too much controversy. Which I'm fine with.

Dune 2 won special effects and sound which is much deserved.

But did Conclave really come away empty-handed? That's a crime.

Oh, and Conan was hilarious. His entrance.

I also thought Guy Pearce or Jeremy Strong deserved the best supporting role, but oh well.

Conclave despite its lack of ass and titties, was a better quality film than Anora.

Conclave won best Adapted Screenplay. So it wasn't completely empty-handed. My bad.

Yeah it was good. Although I think the rape should have been played out as a memory, maybe not wise to show it actually happened.

Sebastian Stan played the c*** really well.
