300 real Spartans from The Battle of Thermopylae vs the 4500 other Greek hoplite troops that allied with them against the Persians.

Fights at Thermopylae, the narrow corridor, and the Greeks CANNOT use the pass to outflank the Spartans.

Spartans have: bronze breastplates, bronze helmets with horse hair-crests, bronze shin and forearm guards, red cloaks, 8 foot spears, iron-bladed short swords and bowl-shaped bronze plated shields.

The hoplites are armed similarly.

Can the Spartans hold off their Greek rivals??

They could hold them off for maybe a day, but would most certainly lose. Most of what people believe to be true surrouding the battle of Thermopylae is nothing but myth. There were many more soldiers that just 300 defending against the Persians. There were closer to five thousand soldiers from allied greek city states. On the third day, When The greek navy began to faulter and a secret path was revealed to the persians. The greek allies left.
Leonidas decided to stay behind with the remaining 300 Spartans, and 700 Thespians. They were slaughtered that night.
Its still a great story though 5000 Greeks defending against somewhere around 60,000 Persions.

4500, equally trained and outfitted Greeks would easily walk through 300 Spartans
