I got this idea from the wario vs metal sonic thread.

Now, link could actually pose a serious threat. But it would depend on ceartain factors.

A: Boots of speed to keepup with metal sonic.

B: Bombs to rival Metal Sonic's plasma launchers.

Because I don't think a sword or a bow is going to cut it (litteraly) when it comes to a robot that goes past mach-1 speed. (As if you lookup on wikipedia that's the speed of Sonic, which is appropiate because he can break the sound barrier)

A: Link's pegasus boots can't even hope to keep up with Metal Sonic

B: A bomb doesn't match a plamsa launcher.

Metal Sonic takes this. Whenever he feels the need he can just use the Black Shield to stop all of Link's attacks or decide to just speed blitz him. Link wouldn't be able to react fast enough to Metal Sonic (who unlike Sonic) is capable of flight and would be able to Homing Attack Link from any direction he so desires.
