I was just wondering if it was possible for Thanos to be killed be a mutant?!?!?!? This is strait up power for power. No Pheonix Force or IG's.
I'm looking for one but the max is 3 against 1. MUTATES are allowed also but the person must be earth-born. Let's go MUTIE-LOVERZZ!!!!

Already been done before. Yes, there is. A few can solo him.

You are right! I forgot about how she enabled weak Polaris to shoot to the core of the Earth.

Anywhoo, I don't see how Thanos beats Ororo to tell you the truth. I mean, what does he usually do? Shoot blasts and super strength. He has some telepathy (okay, he beat Moondragon in psionic combat, so he's definately a Xavier/Shadow King level telepath at least if we give him full credit), however, telepathy is not a useful power against Ororo without using PIS to bring her down. Meanwhile, she can attack him on the atomic and subatomic level like she did Stardust and disperse him with a monumental electron/electrical attack again like she did to Stardust. I don't think that hitting him with your everyday lightning bolt will do much, but if she steals some of his electrons and sends it back at him (same thing she did to Stardust), that kind of attack will hurt anybody. Also, if she starts tossing bolts like she did to pump up Lorna in Giant-Sized issue 1 (or even stronger bolts), it may be enough to put the hurt on Thanos. If not, what she did to Stardust definately will hurt him badly and take him out of the fight.

I am assuming that Thanos does not have technology at his disposal. By that, I mean no prep time for him to create a gadget. Otherwise, we could make an argument with Forge vs. Thanos with prep.

Telepaths are not going to beat Thanos as he did defeat Moondragon in psionic combat.

Old-school Apocalypse vs. Thanos could be very good. OS Poccy beat Loki without too much effort. He also defeated Ikaris without too much problem. If he cannot beat Thanos, I think he could give him a run for his money.

Short of reality warpers, I can't think of anyone else who can beat Thanos. Hmmm...I take that back. I wonder if old school Spiral can give Thanos a run for his money. What do you guys think?

The thread topic says "can any mutant beat Thanos", so outside Jaspers and Hom Wanda and the other obvious choices it might be worth asking which mutants, while not at all Thanos' peer, could maybe still pull out a win or two. For instance does anybody think like Magneto or Uber Cable could get 1/20 or even 1/10 against Thanos at their best?

The problem is these are the only mutants who can beat Thanos. The others would go down hard. So, if there's no point in mentioning the usual suspects, then there's no point to the question.

Even then. You could put Nate, Cable, and Magneto together, and they would still get slaughtered by Thanos.

There is a huge jump in power level when it comes to mutants. You have mutants who are just below herald-level, then they jump to abstract level. So, the mutants out there will either be nothing to Thanos or easily defeat him. No middle ground.

I agree, there are only a hand full of mutants that approximate Herald Level (Silver Surfer is the End Game Herald). While Thanos is clearly above Herald. After those handful of characters, you have another few who are clearly above Thanos.


There is no middle ground (as of yet), unless we allow Squirrel Girl.

The Fantastic Four should be considered Mutates right? If yes the Reed, Sue, and Ben could do it with sufficient prep.

I find it ridiculous that you even think you can tell how powerful those blasts were, even though that's the entire point of your reply. I would like to see where the blast calibers are printed on the nondescript beams of energy that would give any kind of indicator on how powerful they are.

The only reason Galactus beat Hyperstorm was because he was able to absorb Hyperspace. He didn't harm Hyperstorm otherwise. No one else has the advantage of that plot-device.

So, all G had to do was drain energy.

Several characters can do this.

Galactus has probably the greatest energy absorbtion capabilities in the universe, so no, several characters can't do this. And yes, he couldn't stop Galactus. I never said he could. But Galactus never engaged him in battle, either. I'm sure a fight would have been a lot more interesting.
