Sol Valentine
Which video game you think had the best romance?

Not hentai.

General Kaliero
Without a doubt, Tales of the Abyss. The relationship between Luke and Tear is so unforced and real that you'd swear they had genuine emotions.

Blax_Hydralisk
Mario and Peach ermm

Violent2Dope
No hentai? That's bullshit!

I don't know, that's kinda hard.

Bite me BH.

Sado-sama
FFX and X-2...and I think Lana agrees. 131

What happened between them?

Sado-sama
They had a rape party. 131

Ushgarak
Lana stops agreeing at X-2 with her enormous stick of not-agreeingness.

Kind of hard to tell it in short. At the beginning of the game, they can't stand each other. Luke thinks Tear is bossy and cold, Tear thinks Luke is childish and selfish (which he is, honestly. For the first act of the game you play as a self-centered brat). However, after a certain event Luke vows to change himself, and Tear agrees to watch over him and guide him. After that Tear slowly falls in love with him, and he with her, as told through various skits and cutscenes. It's all done very sincerely.

xNIXSONx
Shepard and Ashley Williams, Mass Effect!

grey fox
Squall and Riona

J/K

Seriously though. Probably Ada/Leon, while not a romance per-say there is a lot of realistic tension there.

Mario and Peach?

Neo Darkhalen

Daisy would not be happy.

General Kaliero
Neither would the princess of the... Waffle Kingdom, I think it was?

Daisy hasn't appeared in an actual game since Super Mario Land. Luigi never even met Daisy in that game.

Neo Darkhalen
Come on, she was his caddy after all. laughing

Also, what is the waffle kingdom?

General Kaliero
During Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Luigi is off having adventures that parallel Mario's, only in some far-off place called the Waffle Kingdom. It's more than hinted at that the Princess there is supposed to be Luigi's Peach.

Neo Darkhalen
Is It like the Bean Bean kingdom, from Mario & Luigi Super star saga?

Violent2Dope
Metal Gear Solid 3, Volgin and Raikov. laughing out loud

Neo Darkhalen
Sonic and co. have akward relationships.

Get out of my damn head, will you.

But yes. I definitely liked FFX a lot and despite my usual dislike of main FF characters (and the fact that Yuna and Tidus are only beat by Rinoa as my least favorite), I liked Yuna and Tidus's romance a lot. Especially the fact that ultimately it goes nowhere. Yay for a non-happy ending for a change.

And then FFX-2 just completely destroys that and ahhhhhhhh did not like it. I will not acknowledge the existence of the good/perfect ending of X-2. I know very few fans of FFX that WILL.

As for Lenne and Shuyin in X-2...I like Lenne a lot and it's a pity that she wasn't in it more. Hell, it's a pity that their plot, which really is the main plot of the game, is hardly touched on at all unless you do a bunch of side missions. Shuyin was a ****ing creepy obsessed stalker-type though and I did not like him.

BackFire
Gordon Freeman and Alyx Vance in the Half Life 2 series.

Though the romance is light, and it could be argued that it doesn't even exist, I think that what's there is more profound and powerful than any other video game relationship I've encountered.

Considering its an one sided affair, then yeah, I give you that.
