Is there any explanation why the dark side guys can shoot cool lightning out of their hands and Jedi can't? Is this a forbidden talent or something? Hell, I'd rather be able to do that than use a light saber.

It's a tool of the dark side. I suppose Jedi could do it, but they'd have to submit themselves to the dark side.

Actually, both Dark and Light siders can project lightning. Dark Siders use Force Lightning, and Light siders use a technique known as Electric Judgement. Luke Skywalker becomes a master of this after...actually, I don't know when, but I know he becomes a master of it. Look into the EU for more details.

Well...I figured this had more meaning then the CIS thing, there are only 25 of them left in the world, and I will probably keep this as my ava.

Yes, 25, and they are only found in Russia in the Amur River Valley, they share habitat with the Amur (Siberian) tiger, so they get much less attention...they will be extinct within...5-10 years is my guess.
