I was listening to this morning's Root's Reggae 2 hour weekly show on Area 108 here in Vegas. The dj announced that Martin Scorsese will be directing a Bob Marley doc. I was pretty stoked to hear this. I've been a Bob Marley fan for ages, and recently I was in Jamaica for my honeymoon where I saw this statue dedicated to the memory of Robert Nesta Marley. The link below is more info on the documentary.

A film with Martin Scorsese behind the camera is going to be awesome. Then again, the Marley family has always been a talented and interesting family

I never thought of Scorcese doing this sort of thing, but he's such a good director that I'm excited about this.

Yeah, a lot of people don't associate him with this type of thing, however, one of his first works was a documentary on Woodstock and he directed a live concert film in New York around 2001, he directed a Michael Jackson Video History piece, and has been involved in other music related movies and shows. Most recent was 'Shine A Light', the documentary on The Rolling Stones which is due out on Arpil 4th.

He also directed The Last waltz concert film of The Bands farewell performance, He did the Martin Scorsese presents The Blues series of docs and a doc on Bob Dylan called No Direction Home, all of which are good.
