The only thing I have heard of this is that Matt Damon would not be interested in doing a 4th..

Matt Damon won't do a fourth "Bourne," he said: "We have ridden that horse as far as we can." He admitted to feeling like "a bit of a prostitute for putting out two number threes in one year."

The two number threes being Bourne and Oceans..

I really like the Bourne franchise but I think leave it be now.. or it will just become ridiculous, money making films like the Terminator franchise had become.

He did say if the director of the trilogy did it, he'd do it.

I'd go see it, that's for sure.

He did say he would follow Greengras in Bourne 4. I'd see it too.

I would go see it for sure the Bourne films are probably the best franchise for a long time in my opinion.

I just hope they don't spoil it.

queeq
ME neither. But with Greengrass there's little chance to that.

exanda kane
Aye, Greengrass is a crackin' director.

This is a good point.

Oh, I thought this would only be a trilogy. But anyway, what a good news.

queeq
The original Ludlum books were a trilogy. Now they go on inventing the story themselves.

Blax_Hydralisk
Figures.. ugh.

They're making the same mistake that they made with Jurassic Park.

queeq
JP went wrong with the first sequel.

It's risky, true... but Greengrass has shown good integrity so far.

Rajendra
I was excited to see the upcoming sequel.

JediSamuraiMRB
I've read the novels which are very good. Damon has done very well in the role. Not very surprised at all that there will be a fourth. As a matter of fact I won't be surprised if after this one is successful than another planned trilogy will be made.

queeq
A new Bond.

exanda kane
I hope so. Bond has gone stale, and even the brilliant first half of Casino Royale and great casting of Daniel Craig can't help a sinking ship for long.

Shame Paddy Considine is dead in the Bourne franchise though. The Guardian probably loved the fact that they were shown as a brave paper trying to get the truth.

queeq
Yeah, I guess a license to kill and screw isn't that hot anymore.

Casino Royal got the Bourne treatment and kinda rocked actually.

MildPossession
I didn't know he was going to die in the film when I went to see it, and when he did I shrieked out loud lol. sad

If all the originals are involved, I will definitely see the fourth film!

chillmeistergen
I think they should let it lie. I'll go and see it if they do release it, of course. But it could end up as one of those things when the quality suffers due to sequel after sequel. I think the only thing it hasn't happened with was the Bond films, which have always been shit.

Even if the following books sucked after the original trilogy finished, that's the beauty of book-to-movie adaptations.

You can change things. He did so with the first movies, he'll do so again. Four is probably enough, though.

I think that's the problem with book movies. If there are many in a series, people end up wanting to do them all. Thankfully Damon only wants to work if Greengrass does it, and Greengrass hopefully has enough sense to know when to quit. Then again, four is a weird number. Ultimatum ended perfectly, but now it's open again...so he can either just end the movies with an open end, or make a fifth and risk overkill, but tie it up (Although there are six or more books).

I dunno. I think this'll be Damon's last, and therefore the last Bourne.

I really enjoy these movies, but as good as the third film was it felt as though they were reaching. I'm not trying to say that the series didn't warrant or deserve a third film. I would, however, be skeptical to expect anything other than a bare bones story from a fourth installment. I will still see it if it's made.

How many books are in this series?

queeq
I think there are five.

phillymax
I remember reading somewhere about Damon's comments involving a fourth film (this was shortly after the 3rd installment came out). He said he wanted the franchise to end with #3. If there was a sequal to "Bourne Ultimatum", he joked it would be called the "Bourne Redundancy".

Money talks. He'll blackberry over his signature if he's offered $20m.

faithxp
Bourne Redundancy., thats make me laugh.,

queeq
Indeed.

aciam
as far as i know, Bourne series consists of five books (the last was entitled : The Bourne Betrayal).. so The Bourne Legacy won't be the final cut of the series.

=Tired Hiker=
I think a great opening scene for the fourth Bourne movie would be Matt Damon sticking a pistol in his mouth and blowing his brains out.

Don't get me wrong, I do like Matt Damon, I'm just sick of these Bourne movies. They all just seem the same to me.

exanda kane
I find Matt Damon a tad "meh" of an affair as it goes, but the real joy comes from watching Bourne economically smash someones face up with a rolled up copy of TIME. That, to me, is entertainment with an e.

=Tired Hiker=
I wasn't really into Matt Damon until I saw The Departed, then I began to respect him. But the Bourne movies just don't fascinate me like they do to others.

roughrider
Maybe they'll wait twenty years and do the fourth one then; just like with the Indiana Jones series. It can be titled THE BOURNE RETIREMENT.
big grin

Toku King
I loved the trilogy, but they can't do more. "Ultimatum" had such a great ending.

-Bourne finally knows who he is.
-Everyone thinks he's dead, giving him ultimate peace from the government.
-Everyone involved is either dead or retired from the work.

exanda kane
Yeah, random scenario: Julia Stile's character is kidnapped by an Islamic terrorist organisation, or maybe Hammas, or the IRA (fianced by the US of course) and calls out for Jason Bourne to rescue, raising suspicon that he is still about,in a video released on the net etc, etc, etc.

Poor example, but it can obviously done, hence why Greengrass and Damon have a greenlight.

Yep. And according to Matt, end is end.
