Force powers only. Who wins?

Canon ROTJ Vader or ANH?

Any reason to assume a difference between the two?

Canon Vader was stated as being in his prime during the Rebels era.

Do you have a canon source?
Angelalex242
I'm not sure when Canon Vader's peak is. Is it ROTJ? ANH? Some other time?
We usually consider ROTJ Vader his peak, because he's had the most life experience then, but perhaps love for his son is interfering with his connection to the Force. Or rather, his connection to the Force is wavering between Light and Dark.

Legends Vader is RotJ
Canon Vader is what ever his most powerful incarnation is thus far. Probably LotS

Why wouldn't Disney Vader's peak still be RotJ?
The RotJ novel is in both canon. Isn't that kind of where Vader muses he's stronger than ever?
Even ignoring that?
Can't say I follow the logic of assuming RotJ Vader is weaker than LotS Vader without actual narrative evidence confirming it.
That said, both having RotJ as their peak doesn't make them equally strong given disparity in feats between canon.
Angelalex242
Not that I'm any too sure being conflicted slows him down against anyone except Luke.
Conflicted Anakin, back in ROTS, had no trouble curbstomping Dooku.
ChaosTheory123
They aren't?
Haven't personally found any with a Legends banner on the cover :hmm
Don't recall the narrative illustrating Vader's thoughts being contradicted by what's onscreen either?
Not doubting you, just asking for more on WHY before I pass judgement.

In my opinion, Vader probably reached his prime during the Rebellion era and just kind of leveled out. The Rebels producers are saying Vader's prime in during then, but it doesn't necessarily mean he got weaker over time, either.
ares834
There hasn't been anything definitively canonizing them either. And personally, until I see that, I'd assume they are non-canon. Especially since they do contradict some new canon content and that we have new novelizations coming out soon.

Anyway leaning EU Sith, Malgus has better feats of skill than Disney Vader and would win a duel. ROTJ Vader vs Krayt goes either way

That was Steve Blum's opinion.

When did the producers say anything about Vader's prime?
Zenwolf
Tbh I'm kinda calling BS that Vader peaked early before ANH when there's still plenty of time for him to grow and become stronger. Otherwise he's clearly going to be jobbing heavily in Rebels considering the power he has shown after ANH already.

Probably the Vader's then. Disney Vader's telekinesis surpasses Malgus's by a noticeable margin
