Saw American Beauty last night for the first time in ages...I don't care
what anyone says this movie is/was a masterpiece. Agree? And, if so,
what do you think are recent ones that are on par? There Will Be Blood?

Bardock42
I agree.

And if you talk about recent movies that I thought were awesome, I'd check out Little Miss Sunshine..cause...it's awesome.

BackFire
Love American Beauty, and yes, Little Miss Sunshine was outstanding as well. Not quite as good, but certainly awesome.

BruceSkywalker
Love American Beauty

now everyone go watch True Blood on HBO.. big grin stick out tongue

Röland
I watch True Blood every sunday.

I agree about American Beauty, I liked There Will Be Blood a lot too.

Chewy07
I have to agree. American Beauty is one the finest films ever made. The performances from all involved are absolutely fantastic.

I liked American Beauty. But I loved EIGHT LEGGED FREAKS!

American Beauty's amazing. **** all that True Blood shit, though.

I really liked American Beauty the thing between Kevin Spacey and Mena Suvari was super crazy. I really liked her character in that though she reminded me of a girl i knew in middle school. Very authentic. I'd like to see her in another quality role.

Weird I just saw this move after not seen it for a long time (much like the thread starter). Last time I saw it I was a teenager and saw it in a very different light than I do now. As a teenager I really liked it and thought much of it. Seening it now it just didn't seem so great, I dunno why. Maybe it's because I've seen so many movies since I first saw this movie and comparatively it's good but not great IMO.

This is actually my favorite movie of all-time. Simply brilliant in every aspect!

Impediment
I loved it. A true masterpiece.

The only thing that I didn't like was Wes Bentley's rant about a f*cking bag in the wind. 131wank

Hahaha that's one part I thought was sorta deep and beautiful as a teen. Seeing it recently it just seemed really overdone , stupid and melodramatic to me. It's a ****ing bag in the wind...

I thought it was an excellent film, loved the ending.

RedAlertv2
Possibly my favorite movie of all time, if not, then close.

...That's a great scene.

That's the thing with a lot of movie-goers, they lack the empathetic tendency to respect feelings that they may never feel. I will never think of a bag like that, but the concept is so beautiful that I can't dismiss it.

I still think shes a fantastic actress. She hasn't had a role on par with American Beauty in quite some type but thats to be expected because it was such a hard movie to top. Hopefully she is still acting.

Don't assume you know the exact reasons he dislikes the scene.

T.M
Love this movie, haven't seen it in years.

GrillingNemo
she's got one on this weekend about the Ted Binion casino scandal. Not in theatres, but a TV movie. She's plays the girl who supposedly killed Binion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ln1YyzBKD2M

Yeah, this is my favorite move of all time. It was so devastating and truthful, left me numb after the first viewing. It wasn't until I watched it a second time that I realized how funny it actually is. A real masterpiece.

ragesRemorse
yeah, this a good movie and all but it dont make no gaddamned sense. Like, Kevin Spacey is talking to us at the beginning and end of the movie right? But he is dead and shit. That just dont make no sense. Did he record that message before he got shot and his daughter found it or was he like sposed to be a ghost or somthin?
