Vinny Valentine
Just a bit of a post, before the fact wink

This will be a thread to discuss the upcoming four years with the president.

Questions to ask?
-Where will we go from here?
-How will the Iraq war end?
-Do you believe this is for the better?
-Will Biden's prediction of a crises in the first 6 months be true? Opinion?
-Your thoughts?

Happy Four Years coming guys, and Merry Christmas... Your big gift? Obama. Your stocking stuffer? Joe Biden.

And even more so shows like The Daily Show and Colbert Report and Bill Maher..granted they arent real news shows it will be interesting to see what material they use.

I was referring specifically to your comment about the withdrawal from Iraq.

Afghan is an entirely different issue; the issue America should have put it's resources into, since that's where Osama is supposed to be.

no, I got what you were saying, I just though it odd that you alluded to Afghanistan in order to make a point about Iraq.

I don't think America's military resources are well spent in Afghanistan, much for the exact reasons you used Afghanistan as an allusion previously. You can't bomb Al Qaeda into submission, I don't even believe, personally, that the capture and killing of Bin Ladin would be much more than a symbolic victory at this point. Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghrib (Morocco to Egypt/Jordan, though the group is stationed in Morocco/Tunisia) is very dangerous right now, and invading Tunisia is probably out of the question.

They should take the money they spend on one armed drone and teach 50 people to speak Pashtun.

lol, this turned into a rant, I can't imagine you are in favor of a "surge" in Afghanistan

Well, the Russians had a long drawn out war of attrition in Afgahn, similar to what America has now in Iraq.

But let's face it, if America was attacking as a means to kill those responsible for 9/11, Afghan should have been the operation zone and I'm not talking about thousands and thousands of soldiers. Small tactical groups, with air support when needed. For a fraction of the price America has spent in Iraq, Al Qaeda could have been rendered toothless in Afghan and sent a message to ther would be terrorist groups that targeted retaliation would be the outcome of any further terrorist attack on the U.S.

Well, like you said, killing Osama now would just be a gesture, but I'd be happy for it to be done under Obama or McCain.

Hunkajunk
Well to quote Obama's campaign, "a responsible end to the war" which is much softer language than he was using during the primaries.

If he does win I don't expect any real changes, simply giving one party a majority will not change anything, in fact if either party winds up with a major majority there will be even less incentive for change.

Robtard

It's nice to parse what Obama says and imply something faulty.

He said he'd have no problem fighting Iran if they proved a valid threat to America, he also said he would open up talks with Iran as a means to avoid a war; the Right called him a pussy terrorist appeaser for that.

Do you have any idea how expensive health care is in this country? How difficult it can be to find insurance if you don't have it? Companies can take anything they like to refuse you and claim it's a pre-existing condition.

A huge number of people who do work hard still cannot afford healthcare. That's why so many people are so in debt from medical bills.

Yeah right. This is the US, where it's not actually "left and right", it's "right and further right". What most people consider far left in this country is considered center by most other countries.

On a lot of issues, Obama is right of center by Canadian standards

I must be way right then, I don't even consider most republicans very conservative. Even under a so called conservative president for the last eight years our government grew.

I've said it before, there are no conservatives to vote for any more.

I hear what you are saying. There are just no good conservatives any more. People realized there is money to be made off of big government and now all parties want in. I don't even know what to call them, they aren't conservative in any literal sense.

Lord Knightfa11
wait i don't see why its funny. not because im conservative just because it eludes me please xplain.

Someone edited that article with the word "NIGGERSHIT" written on the text.
It's been removed by the mods now.

Wonder how long it'll be before someone caps his ass.

MIŠT
Why would anyone shoot Obama before even becoming president, yet leave Bush in office for 8 years?

Ya Krunk'd Floo

ragesRemorse
i wasnt sure if i should post in this thread or the official presidential election thread. So, until i've decided which one is more credible i'm going to refrain from making my point.

If I could I'd decapitate you...and I'm not joking.

Lord Knightfa11
so now we live in an obamanation under the proud rule of obama bin laden.

Captain REX
I don't like that nickname for him. It's not fitting.

BackFire
You compared Obama to Osama Bin Laden?

Interesting, hasn't been done before. Witty, clever, so on.

Should do stand up.

It's also idiotic. But that's not news.

Captain REX
I wasn't going to say it, but yeah, it's pretty ****ing stupid. A charismatic man whom I have great wishes for compared to a terrorist who tore down our country... the only connections between the two being that they aren't white and they're both Muslim. Great comparison.

BackFire
But...Obama isn't Muslim.

Captain REX
Ah, but he's friends with 'terrorists' so he must be!

Or so say the mudslingers in the media...

ragesRemorse
If obama is a terrorist he would have the worst disguise of all time. It is like clark kent without the glasses. Big league terrorists have proven to be fairly smart so im sure one running for the presidency of America would at least change his name

Yeah but its a double bluff....its so obvious you think 'nahhhhh!'. wink

LOL he should do some April Fools joke were he appears on national TV and claims to be part of Al Qeida and then talks about how he duped everybody.

Heh exactly.... Im not convinced with all that stuff.
Besides Bush and Cheney are perceived as 'not-much-better-than-the-ones-they-claim-to-be-terrorists' around the world anyhow.

Great result, this. Nice one, America. Now you've got that proven dangerous lunatic and his Dad's friends out of there, Ive got more respect and hope back for your nation.

If fact the world may now look at you guys in a new light.
Obama may actually listen to the world instead of just trying to bomb the shit out of the bits that dont listen to him.

The vibe of the future seems to have lost 20 tonnes, the way I see it...

i wouldn't be entirely confident about that bit given that many of the presidential advisors rarely change from president to president regardless of whether they're republican or democrat

So. Obama is the first African-American (or, at least, half) president. Wonder how long it'll be before the first assassination attempt. I'm no racist, but there are a LOT of other fanaticals out there.

Sadako of Girth
I hear you. But he may change that too.. They may be just as bad if left as is, but Im just hoping that if they are different that there is 50% chance that they might not be.

Well this situation is pretty unprecidented so far, lets hope he gets a different team in too..

Yep. A lot of invested war mongers might get twitchy.
I hope not though.

He'll have his ass pretty protected, I'm sure.

....I heard someone say that this moment in time, in the u.s., is a mixture of j.f.k, m.l.k., and the new millenium..

I just woke up and I still can't believe america has elected a black man as president of the united states.

I hope he does well. and I wish him well. i've never seen so much love and reverence for a us polititian.

I mean, even thugs were watching....

I dunno. maybe the now think or know they have some hope now..to change and to make something positive for themselves happen regardless of skin color and regardless of the hardships.

to me, this is all what some people needed. for someone to prove that you can make it in this country with faith hard work and a little luck. and you make luck cause luck is the resideu of skill and skills can be learned.

someone said, "I found out that the harder I work, the luckier I seem to get.."

congratulations obama. our 44th president of the united states of america. may god bless you with the wisdom you need to be our proud leader and may angels walk with you forevermore.

peace.

Grand-Moff-Gav
He isn't really the 44th though is he? Atleast not yet...he could be shot before his inauguration so...

Lord Coal
Technically he won't be the 44th anyway, as the 22nd and 24th are the same guy, Grover Cleveland.
