If Peter jackson made SW would they be better movies?? I think he would turned it into a 7 part saga filling in the big gap between EP 3 and 4.

He's done an outstanding job with LOTR he could of done the same for sw

Final Blaxican
Just because Lord of the Rings and King Kong were all really long movies doesn't mean PJ just likes making long movies...

I have never watched all of Lord of the Rings. From what I saw it looked pretty odd...

Thank you George for making Star Wars.

Just get off yer butt and make 7, 8 and 9 already!

queeq
No, don't. Leave SW alone.

steverules_2
There's gonna be more episodes?

JediRobin23
Yes, Lucas started writing 7,8,9 already

Its going to be called, rise of the new empire, with chewbacca as emperor

Bespin Bart
Lord of the Rings was epic and fantastic, but no way should he touch Star Wars. Nor should 7 through 9 be made, they'd be ridiculous... though JediRobin's idea is totally awesome. laughing out loud

Yes, but SuperShadow will be creating them. If you don't believe me check out the now holiday themed www.supershadow.com

By the way remember on one of the recent Terminator shows when this chick cheated her husband with some neighbor guy? Wasn't that messed up? I thought it was totally random and hilarious. Then the daughter told her dad she watches lesbian porn in his office. Hahaha. She was being sarcastic (I think) but it was funny.

nah, I'm sure he thinks "more is better"

I'm talking about purely the movie-aspect here but LOTR is too long. There are things irrelevant to the progress of the movie & the plot. Certain scenes could have easily been shortened.
I understand he has cut already many things, but apperently he didn't dare to touch the rest.
Yeah yeah, nice backgrounds and all, but even in fast-forward the movie takes too long.

If he would make SW. I'm pretty sure that he would film an hour long a space ship flying through hyperspace. roll eyes (sarcastic)

coolmovies
its not about how long they are but how good the films are ! If you watch all six sw movies back to back thats 12 hours same as LOTR.

But SW is nine I mean six movies and LOTR is three I think.

Yeah I thought the episode was a little messed up, I didn't really like it that much. The daughter was hot though. The lesbian porn line was rather funny, I think she may have been serious but I am not 100% sure.

lol When Cameron killed that guy thinking he was a Terminator it was so hilarious.

Yeah, I am not sure about that either. Take that line of hers into consideration while pondering why her hair is so short.

I thought Cameron woulda been able to tell if he was a terminator

Yeah. Cameron is kinda retarded. Maybe it is becuase of her damaged chip. lol

Time to reformat her hard drive.

Leave that to me.

steverules_2
I'll give it a go first...since I am sooo good at reformating hard drives for women....very good big grin 131

Cameron always acts quite retarded, I mean in the very first episode you think she's human and she acts human now she just acts too much like a terminator, it's like once we know she's a terminator they just said 'right now we can just make her non-human like' which sucks.

Hehe.

Yeah, I see what you are saying. I wonder how many writers they have, they could have to many to the point they make things unbalanced like that.

steverules_2
How could it make it unbalanced?

sweersa

I suppose the more writers they have the more likely it is for the stories to sort of loose sync with each other in relation to the main directions of the series.

steverules_2
Yeah, they start going in one direction with an episode and then start going in a totally different route with the show which makes it kinda complicated for the viewers. And the T-1000 thing is just kinda...stupid, I mean it doesn't really seem to be going anywhere.

Ace of Knaves
I don't think they would have been better. They were written in whole or in part by Lucas, and there in lies the problem. The prequels would have sucked no matter who directed them because they were written by George Lucas. I love the original trilogy, but I grew up with them. I'm sure that the generation that comes after me will and do love the new films; because that's who they were written for.

queeq
Lucas wouldn't even have let Jackson direct the way he'd like to.

coolmovies
at least peter never changed the same films ten times like sw.

THE JLRTENJAC
The thing is that most of if not all of Peter Jackson's most well-known movies were stories written by other people. (For example: King Kong, which was originally a movie that used claymation and Lord of the Rings, which was a trilogy of novels written by J.R.R. Tolkien)

Not to mention that he is working on the Hobbit (By J.R.R. Tolkien) and is supposedly working on Halo (Game by Bungie) again.

At least Star Wars was an original work.

True, but they still aren't original works.

LOTR hasn't been out long enough to justify any changes with newer technology.

Not that it would ever need too. Nothing in that movie looked fake imo.

And I was watching ESB last night and god damn, those were graphics were excellent, even by today's standards.

Agree 100%. ESB is my favorite of all 6 films.

I think ESB is a tad overrated. I love all SW films but I would have to say my personal favorites are ANH and ROTS. (I can't decide which one I like more.)

Other than the lightsabers why is it so bad? Did they do color correction back in the day when it first came out? Or was it raw?

They chose for a crisp and palish look, to give it a documentary style feel. It's part of the movie that made history, it was different, no one did it like that then. And that historic cinematographical part was ruined. It was no accident it looked like that, it was pure intention.

Gah it is all ruined now....maybe they did it to save money as well.

Jackson made the second best saga of all time.
Lucas made the best saga of all time.

Why should Jackson take over what Lucas made better ?

There are a lot of things I do not like in Star Wars. I could make a very long list. Still it is the best saga/movie of them all.

I find it much harder to find failure (things I do not like) in LOTR (okay, when i watched them for the second, third time etc. I find all the Frodo stuff a little boring - I didn't when I watch them the first time). Seems that Star Wars is just a better story with stronger characters. Jackson is great, but could he has made Star Wars better. We don't know, but I don't think so.

I have just watched LOTR again. Why didn't they just send an eagle out to throw the ring in the volcano ? The eagle could just carry it in a back or something.

No. You should read into the DOP chose the clear look carefully. The only reason they corrected the colors was to make it look similar to the PT, which looks less original.

I think adapting LOTR to the screen was a hell of a job, but true, you don't have to invent the story. You still have to tell it well though.

I know this is EU Queeq but I just landed two copies of Splinter of the Mind's Eye! 1 dollar each at a second hand store. One of them has a variation, the title's text is red, and it is the paperback version.

Right, I also scored the three original paper back novels.

One time I had a customer that told me he had all 6 of the original books, and he said at the time Steven Spielberg had no idea what he had on his hands, lol.

Right, but in movies is hard to have actors talking to themselves. And it would be creepy. lol

queeq
True, so the filmmaker, who told the novelist the story he should write, should find other ways to transfer the inner world. Good lines come in handy, room to act properly as well.

Jaeh.is.Awesome
inner world can be shown through yep, good lines and good acting... facial expressions are really handy too...

lol, actors talking to themselves... maybe they should just put it in the movies like, the actors voices speaking in the background commenting on what is happening... then they'd have a slew of voices speaking in the background when all the actors are on screen... >.<

I suppose. Inner worlds may give characters depth, but it isn't totally necessary and maybe that is why Lucas scraped them.

queeq
WIthout inner world there isn't much to act with. Then you can only deliver lines. There should always be an inner world. If the script doesn't contain hints, or if the director has no clue, an actor has to make it up for himself.

Hmm. Well count Episode I Anakin out of an inner world. Unless his inner world involves looking like he is reading when acting.
