Current Warlock seems like a sentient plot device, lol.

I'm not sure if soul manipulation would even work on Lobo.

Well seeing how lobo, has that can't die heaven and hell thing. He has a soul, and it can be sucked! lol. So yeah neither orion or Lobo can resist the effects.
