Kosta
The Curious Case of Bejamin Button.

Burn After Reading.

Rock'N'Rolla.

Theres three great and relatively new movies right there.

killakyle
I was just thinking about it and i seen "the signal" in theaters... was this movie was supposed to be scary or funny? There is a part where they are all in this house at some kind of party that was hilarious! Did anyone else feel this way about that scene?

kodak
it had 3 writers and each writer directed their own act.

which is why it was partly funny.

Look around, there are PLENTY of films worth seeing. Mainstream and indie.

Of course there are but there is an equal amount of movies NOT worth seeing so for the sake of a good conversation i didn't see why i wouldn't ask for a few referrals ya know? haha.

do you have a particular indie movie you think i should check out?

This is a great list of movies! we have similar taste. Have you watched the rocker? i went to rent it the other night and i guess its not even out yet =/ o-well, the movie guy told me it comes out on the 27th tho so ill just wait. The wackness looked awsome, yet i havnt made an effort to see it yet, what did you think?

Mr Parker
Theres been a lot of movies made this year that are for sure worth seeing. These you should see in the theaters.
Yes Man
Frost/Nixon
Revolutionary Road
Milk
Doubt
Austrailia
Gran Torino
The Changeling
The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons.
and a few during the summer-great flicks
Iron Man,Lakeview Terrace and The Dark Knight.
some have already passed so you obviously cant see them all
but you should at LEAST make sure and see
-Gran Torino,Frost/Nixon and
The Changeling when it comes out on video. smile

oh and a couple others I just saw on video for the first time I would highly recommend are Stalin with Robert Duvall and The Nuremburg Trials with Alec Baldwin. These were HBO movies made like in 2000 or so.

Yeah, i've seen the Rocker. I enjoyed the movie thoroughly. If you don't mind the more lighthearted comedies you should like it. It's an un-offensive movie that doesn't try to do anything other than offer a good time. I thought Dwight and the rest of the cast did a good job. Especially considering that teen actors usually ruin an otherwise good movie for me.

You should definitely give Wackness a watch. Not only is it a good movie but it captures that era brilliantly. You don't have to be a fan of hip hop to enjoy the movie either.

Let me know how these movies faired with you after you watch them.

Obviously you wont be able to see Batman or Ironman in the theaters.will have to see them on DVD when you can but like i said, you should at LEAST see Gran Torino and Frost/Nixon while they are still in the theaters.Wish i could say the same thing about The Changeling but its not in the theaters anymore so thats another when it comes out on video I highly recommend to see for sure.myself I dont have any desire to see the movie you mentioned.

MildPossession
I recommend I've Loved You So Long, very good film and the lead Kristen Scott Thomas didn't get a nomination at the Oscars which is just terrible.

I have never heard of this "changeling" movie but ill check it out when ita available for renting. I keep hearing Gran Torino was great, Even though i also hear the kid in the movie ruins it. Even tho your not interested the "Unborn" is a decently scary movie when compared to the others that have come out lately so if you ever decide to check it out its worth a rent.

Mr Parker
okay I'll give it a chance and oh man,you got to see The Changeling. It stars Angeline Jolle in it.Im not much of an Angeline Jolle fan but she gave an amazing performance in the movie.I would have to say its one of my top 20 favorites of all time.I made a thread of it that I think is on page two here now.you should google in the movie as well so you'll understand what its about. Its a true life story.I'll tell you that much and I got to say that Gran Torino has got to be one of Clint Eastwoods best movies so far to ever come out.I would definetely put it in the top 5 of my favorite Eastwood movies of his.He gives the best performance ever I have ever seen him give in this movie. He makes the movie a riot.I was laughing so hard over some of his lines he delivered so well.Ironically he directed both this movie and The Changeling. He has really become an excellent director over the years and has gotten much better with age.

Oh well then ill be sure to check it out, i do enjoy the more lighthearted comedy's as long as they are not to far gone ha ha, thanks for giving me another opinion!

Howard Beale
The last few trips to the cineplex for me were rather disappointing (Gran Torino, The Reader) however I am travelling there in about 5 min. to watch The Wrestler which should break the streak. If it does not I'm going to be incredibly discouraged by movies!

Howard Beale
Last film I saw in theaters that is worth checking out would have to be....Milk. Wow it's been like 2 1/2 weeks since I've seen a good movie in a theater! That's really bad for someone who makes about 2 trips a week.

Just saw "The Crow". Holy crap, that movie is awesome! It's that one movie that takes the gothic feel and presents it in a colorful and crazy environment without it seeming stupid. It makes "Sin City" and "The Spirit" look like Scifi Channel Original Movies in comparison of effects. Brandon Lee's Crow may have been one of the best portrayals of any comic character in film, and is up there with the likes of Heath Ledger, Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, Robert Downey Jr., Tobey Macguire, and so on(too many to list) as one of my favorite comic book actors.

Honestly? I think you're overrating Lee and the film in general. That could be because I thought the film was terrible though. The Crow was one of the cheesiest movies I've seen lately. Very few redeeming qualities.

Actually i think the crow was a decent movie (not great i agree) but for its time i think this movie was quite good a bit cheesy but good.

killakyle
Whats the deal with this yo-yo girl cop thing haha...There is just somthing hott about that girl and her yo yo hahaha. If you guys are interested in having a good lauph and killing some time check this site out www.bearocker.com

Sin City is fantastic for effects, what are you on about... Sin City is a fantastic piece of film making. I adore The Crow but totally different in effects layout.

The Crow, for those who don't know, is getting a remake soon.

Dantalion
You may have probably watched it but I absolutely love Fight Club. It worth going and renting it.

yeah dude. That really hurt the movie for me. It was a really decent movie but it didn't flow very well. The second act like you said came off to strong as a dark comedy where as the first portion very clearly established the movie as a something else.

That guy, the husband, or boyfriend. I swear that dude looks and acts a lot like Ryan Reynolds.

There were great movies before but I'm not sure if it works the old way. There are movies just for the name.

Hahaha i thought the same thing when i watched it! What was that guys name? he really did look just like Ryan Reynolds. I wish it would have picked either dark comedy or horror the mix killed it for me aswell

You should wait for the Watchmen and The Authority.
I'm betting those movies will be one of the best this year.
