What characters in books may look cool, but would look ridiculous in reality?? And for the inverse, which ones would look awe inspiring.

My first two bets is Superman and Wonder Woman...

In Comics Superman looks regal and majestic, at least imo.
In comics, Wonder Woman looks like a queen, but in real life, these two would lose the icon factor fast.

Superman looks like a douche imo, in all his real life costumes. Superman, Lois and Clark, Superman Returns. If he was a real person, villains would be too busy laughing to take him seriously.

Wonder Woman looks like she's wearing a bathing suit. Yep. A bathing suit. All her foes would do is pull her top down and one punch her when she screams and goes to yank it back up. Whorish is the translation to reality.

Thor would look really bad too. As would Sentry, Magneto, and most of Marvel and DC. Don't even get me started on Hulk. PowerGirl would have a complex walking around looking like that.

Wonder man looks like a hack wrestler.

I think that Green Lantern, Silver Surfer, Firelord, and Stardust would look really beautiful in reality. They all have that glow factor going for them. The Martian Manhunter might look better too. Cap Atom would look nice as well.

Post yall thoughts...Who else would fail in the transition, and who would ace it??

Ult cap would look good, real cap though would be ridiculed.

although Iron Man would look cool in real life, and Spiderman didnt look too bad in the movies.

hulk and cap america wouldn't look that bad. WW does look like a whore tho. supes would just look straight fagish

The Question, Sandman (Wesley Dodds), and Rorschach all have costumes that would look good in real life.

blade would get made fun of, and the Matrix jokes would never end.

I always liked the mysterious element about the sandman ...he's kickass.

Translated into real life, no superguy I can think of off-hand is gonna look cool in tights/spandex. The X-men movies wisely realized this.

Hulk and Sub-Mariner would probably look the best cuz what they wear are not "costumes," per se.

Silver Surfer...special case. He would look truly unearthly, perhaps even more divine than cosmic. And it would be interesting to see a man really silvery--with all those shifting reflections--rather than the "shiny white" appearance he tends to have in comics.

Wonder Woman: cool character trapped by her time of origin (1941?). That name and costume are just plain silly (IMO).

Silver Surfer would look beautiful in real life for sure

Most of the FF's costumes would look stupid.

Wolverine in real-life with his yellow and blue spandex would look horrible.

I'm leaning towards WW looking ridiculous along with Apocalypse and Supes. Mr Sinister maybe.

The best is definitely Emma Frost, maybe Angel.

I think the Ultimate Universe does a lot better with everybody's apparel.

altho juggernaut looks ridiculous, especially his helmet. spiderman looks stupid in the ultimate universe IMO

Juggernaut does look dumb, but imo Spiderman looks the same.

on the ultimate spider-man game, he looks like a douce.(although venom is insanly cool)

I personally don't like Ultimate Spiderman in general... He's only alright by himself, and since the original's pretty awesome, (not in appearance, just in general) it just makes him look worse by comparison.

In terms of looks, many characters have both good and bad costumes. I disagree with Namor looking good in reality... The speedo won't hold up well in reality, and the fake wings on the black costume wouldn't translate well at all.

For GL's, it depends on the costume. Hal would look bad, where Guy's would be acceptable, at the very least. The collar is sexy.

Any robotic characters would be good. Any very demonic characters would be cool.

It's my firm opinion that any superhero costume can be tweaked enough to make it look good in reality, but still be very recognizable. (I'd point to Batman Begins as a pretty good example) Aquaman's one exception. The color scheme pretty much bones him.

Batman's suit taken directly would be ridiculous, but the one in Batman Begins looked pretty good. They actually gave each piece of it a real purpose, so it basically looked like black body armor, a cape, and a mask. Not normal street clothes, but for a night spectre that scares the crap out of drug dealers? Perfectly acceptable. Guys like Aquaman would take a lot more work, but I can't really think of anyone who has such an outrageous outfit that it simply couldn't be adapted to look pretty decent in real life.

i was thinking about this the other day when i saw people arguing about supermans costume in the new movie. apart from redesigning it there isnt really anything they can do. hes a guy in spandex, with big red boots, and underpants outside his spandex body suit, and a bit red cape. he looks awesome in comics and stuff becuase hes an icon, but if you looked at him as a guy in tights with his underpants showing he doesnt look that great.

the ultimate series really addresses and fixes up this issue, with all the costumes really looking cool, and being something translatable to reality.

only a handful of guys would look really cool if they were put into reality, one of which is the surfer. i think apocalypse could look cool, if they tweaked him a bit. and a few others, but in general they wouldnt transfer to real life very well.

Everyone would be too scared to make fun of Lobo or Hush. They would look pretty dam scary though.
