Which of these seemingly always morose individuals is the grumpiest?
Who rarely smiles and which of them is seemingly always rather grumpy?
Which of them needs to look on the bright side of life a bit more?
In short, who is the biggest grouch?
Batman (Bruce)
Midnighter
Wolverine
Punisher
SamZED

Batman is somewhat cheerful and polite as Bruce Wayne, even if it is a front.
The Punisher is almost always scowling, and the few times he does smile, it's always a twisted smirk at somebody else's expense.

Meh. Bruce Wayne is just Batman in disguise. Castle and Logan can't be bothered with alter-egos; Castle always retains his bitter personality, and Logan is just as much a cynical hothead in or out of his costume.
I see Midnighter's been added in the thread, but I don't know much about him.

Actually, it's been stated by different writers in Batman comics that Bruce Wayne is the "mask" and Batman is the real persona.

since when is the cartoon interchangeable with the comic?
TricksterPriest
No, Bada has a point. It's pretty much outright stated and heavily infered in the comics that Batman is what's really inside his head. Bruce Wayne is just a front, a way for him to socialize. But as he said in Batman Beyond (I know it's a cartoon, but it fits, and Batman Beyond is now part of at least one Batman's history thanks to Countdown), "The voice kept calling me Bruce. But in my mind, that's not what I call myself." Terry: "Then what........? Oh. Should have figured. (whisper) but that's my name now." Bruce: "Tell that to my subconscious."
Juntai
Pretty obvious actually, in the stories in and following the Bruce Wayne Murderer arc. He doesn't imply it, he outright tells us. Bruce is merely one of Batman's tools. After being branded a murderer and arrested, Batman escaped, and gave up being Bruce, because Bruce became a liability that was slowing down Batman. He explains it in Batman 600. He's even often known to refer to Bruce third person, and Batman as being "I" or "me".
