I never understood why he didn't do such stuff more often.. So easy to just move things with the slightest nudge of his powers. Sword, armor, screws, paperclips... Anything really just turned into a lethal weapon.

It was revealed later on that Xorn was impersonating Magneto. His EMP attack in that scan caused the Phoenix Force to shatter into billions of pieces, an incident which is extremely well known on these boards.

Yeah, all that happened in one of those periods where I couldn't get my hands on comics and when I did i never got caught up with x-men. Sometimes I find scans and plot can be lost to me so thanks for explaining... I was so impressed with that Also, shame it wasn't mag.
Magneto still wins

Curious is this Jean or Phoenix? Should i naturally assume the latter? I usually avoid threads with her so if Jean=Phoenix I wouldn't know.

despite her eventual fusion and identification with the force, unless stated otherwise in the op, jean grey doesn't have the PF. so she's a high meta or low herald

There's something MAJOR you're leaving out in relation to those scans, after the M'krann incident (which took place before her showdown with Magneto), Jean subconsciously imposed limits on her power so that she would never lose control :

These psychic circuit breakers were broken when Mastermind played with her emotions and caused her to become Dark Phoenix.

The "Phoenix" Magneto beat wasn't even low herald.

Having said that, Magneto wins. Jean sans PF isn't all that impressive.

I don't like Jean Gray but I love Jean Grey.

If Jean is written with out stupid limits and even without the PF. She should be able to beat Maggy.

Cause the asinine stupidty of marvel to bend over for Maggy is IMO a ridicoulous asumption that a magnetic barrier should be able to stop a psychic ability.

nope his helmet does tho 100% it stops charles and hes the most powerful telepath his shield blocks physical damage and im sure most magical attack as well

jean is more powerful then mags to an extent her telepathy is extremely strong while boosted by the phoenix but if she cant use those against him mags just simply destroys her if she can get inside his head then she wins she can tear his brain out

No doubt Mag would defeat Jean but let's be fair, In both of his "fights" with Phoenix they are WITHOUT context. When they first faced Jean herself limited her powers which explained why she hit a wall and could draw on no more of her powers.

Also Xorn and Phoenix NEVER fought, Jean sought to comfort him and he attacked giving her a lethal Emp while she was unaware, which is strange seeing as this is the same woman who in that very issue was in the HEART of the SUN and used it's power and Asteroid M to create an spacecraft. Now maybe it's me but I doubt Mags could create anything as strong as the very sun.

It should also be noted Jean commented in issue she, "didn't know how long they'd let her stay".
