Thats...confusing.
Yeah, the whole story was like that.
Lets see... The basic concept is Danny has to protect some random woman who happens to be an avatar for a univerlsal entity (And she looks like Jean Grey). The King of Hell wants her to take over the universe. He also looks like genghis khan or something.
The woman has a protector, a bowman, who's revealed to be Lancelot by the end of the story. He's the one who killed Danny, so he could fight the hell king.
Danny's also constantly fighting a masked woman, who's just as good at martial.arts as Danny. And we learn happens to be his deceased mother turned into brainwashed bodyguard.
Plus there's other weird stuff like Danny fighting a mob in his city after they kill Colleen Wing (One of the thugs looks like Logan. Even says "bub"

), and accidentally killing them all after a big demon attacks from out of nowhere. And Lancelot claims it wasn't an illusion, but would happen if he doesn't beat the hell lord (Because the cosmic entity resets it? Not really made clear.)
Chris Claremont did it as a five part epic in the black and white Deadly Hands of Kung Fu, and it was nothing like the Iron Fist series. He was probably given permission to do whatever he wanted to shore up sales.
