Is Superman still the mightiest character?

When I say mightiest, I mean that with all resources at their disposal, power versatility, etc.
Is there any one super powered mainstream hero or villain able to replace him, and either do as well, or better?
If so, who would you nominate?

In DC yesterday they literally said had him named as the most powerful superhero (via Nightwing).

If so, who would you nominate? Is this some thinly veiled reverse-trolling attempt on carver9 that I am coming in on the a$$-end of again?
Or is this actually meant as a serious question?
In which case, name something another mainstream hero or villain couldn't do that Superman can.

^ I guess on a narrow level (yet not inaccurate)... General Zod???

This comic was officially blessed by Abhi, it's 100% canon.

There are characters that can do almost anything he can do.
But there are very few, if any, that can do everything he can do. So the answer to your question, in at least a general sense, is yes, he still is the mightiest. Though I think saying "mightiest hero" works better than "mightiest character" as there are characters who have been written better. Plenty that have been written worse, sure, but Superman has had some shitty runs under certain writers.

Still the mightiest? Was he ever the mightiest?
carver9
I think he's the mightiest in DC tbh. I wouldn't say both DC and Marvel, though.

So Carver, who would you nominate?
Thinkerer
Im terms of popularity in combination with his powers, no one exceeds Superman.

Nobody tbh, but if I had to choose someone, it would be Thor.

^ Had the Black Adam movie been a hit, it definitely would've been Black Adam.

DarkSaint85
You think they'd have actually 'shaken up the hierarchy '?
ODG
^ Superman might be the ultimate paragon of superhero-ness... but if he shot a widespread heat-vision blast to empower every superhero to be immune to the Great Darkness and even free Deathstroke (who was the focal point of that power), even the most hardcore DC fan would've rolled their eyes.
Yet, in the climax to Dark Crisis, Black Adam did just that with his lightning.
And that was before the film was even released.
Past may not be precedent and, we'll never actually know... but that was the most nonsensically forced twist I've ever seen in my life. Be happy that Black Adam didn't make over a billion $ like Aquaman 1 did. Otherwise, you would've watched Dwayne Johnson apply the Rockbottom to Henry Cavill on-screen.
