Captain REX
THE SET-UP: An enigmatic leader of the Shepherds, Del, has slipped past Xavier Kolarn as the Dark Jedi was guarding the defense system of a chemical factory. It turns out that the swordsman wields a lightsaber, and so things go from there...

HOW THIS WORKS: Having been a fair few duels at this point, I'm sure Xavier has this figured out! You can refer to previous duels for information on the system, if you need a reminder.

ANALYSIS: Xavier is a fierce fighter with a strong arm, but he knows little about his opponent at this point. The energy shield that the Shepherd wears on his arm may be problematic, however.

Xavier is the Dark Sider here and takes initiative...

Score:

Xavier- 0, Del- 0.

Xavier to attack, Del to defend.

Newjak
Xavier makes bull rush forward feigning like he is trying to run over Del.

At the last second however he takes a very keen decisive step to the opposite side of his energy shield, making a quick thrust at his shoulder.

Captain REX
Anticipating a powerful lunge, the Shepherd starts to spin off to the side. But when you thrust with both lightsabers and let the momentum carry through into your attack, the impact against the shield causes him to trip up as he moves away to your right.

Score:

Xavier- 1, Del- 0.

The Shepherd continues to move around to your right, intending to ward off your lightsaber with his shield and make a stab for the ribcage, past your guard.

Newjak
Xavier takes a very strong stance with his right arm. Intending to use his strength to over power the shield, pushing it back into the Shepard.

Captain REX
While your strong swipe prevents him from landing his cheap shot, his shield remains just out of blade's reach and you instead smack his lightsaber away and bring your left around for a powerful thrust. But your opponent, once your lightsaber connects, pulls back and causes you to overcompensate the impact. You stumble as he scoots away to your side once more, circling right.

Round draw, to attacker.

Score:

Xavier- 1, Del- 1.

Xavier to attack.

Newjak
Xavier quickly regains his footing, and and brings his saber over head in a downward motion toward the back leg of the circling Del.

Captain REX
The Shepherd nimbly intercepts your blade, stepping over the attack and parrying it into the floor with his lightsaber and pinning it. He cannot capitalize on this as you expertly bring your second blade into play and force him to awkwardly backstep.

His form is becoming predictable, Xavier. He has talent but struggles to keep up with your blows as you drive him back.

Score:

Xavier- 2, Del- 1.

To prevent him from backing into a wall, Del tries to push back. He shunts into your left hand weapon with his shield and aims a vicious jab for your center.

Newjak
Xavier makes it seem like his left side has become sturdy, but at the last second drops all resistance on the left side. Turning he brings his left hand saber around to block the jab with the right coming in for a side thrust.

Captain REX
The Shepherd exhibits quick thinking in response to your defense. When you whirl around and deflect his thrust with your left hand saber, he pivots so that his back is to you, but his shield is in position to deflect your jab, albeit awkwardly. But this leaves your center clear and he lashes out a booted foot that connects solidly with your stomach, the Force-enhanced strike knocking you down on your back. He moves away from the wall as you recover.

Round draw, to attacker.

Score:

Xavier- 2, Del- 2.

Xavier to attack, Del to defend.

Newjak
Xavier though stunned from the blow uses the momentum to quickly roll over back unto his feet.

He brings his left hand saber overhead. Then moves toward Del bringing his saber down overhead for nice clean slash.

Captain REX
The precise cut is intercepted when the Shepherd smashes his shield upwards into the blow. He attempts counterstriking by spinning around to slash under your left arm and across your stomach, but misjudges your handiness with that second lightsaber. The result sees the two combatants entangled until you perform a simple disengage maneuver that throws the Shepherd back. Your lightsabers clash back and forth, driving him back once more...

Score:

Xavier- 3, Del- 2.

...until he starts putting some power into his swings, trying to smash aside your lightsabers and bring down your guard.

Newjak
Xavier uses his seldom seen acrobatics on this charge. Feigning one side he quickly twirls into the air to other side bringing a saber overhead to counter Del's while landing to his side.

Captain REX
The sudden use of acrobatics catches the Shepherd offguard. Xavier arcs through the air and lands by his opponent's side, then blocks a fierce downward blow. With your lightsabers locked, it leaves the Shepherd badly exposed...

Score:

Xavier- 4, Del- 2.

Xavier to attack. Match point to Xavier.

Newjak
Xavier brings his left saber around trying to push his leverage to push Del's defenses to the side. Then with a quick thrust from the hip with his right saber attempts to plunge it through his rib cage.

Captain REX
You maintain your lock as you uncoil from your defensive crouch and try to push the Shepherd's defense aside. Del, however, remains steadfast; instead of fighting your lock, he manages to slide your blade into his shield and free up his lightsaber. When your jab comes around, he twirls his lightsaber across and down, smacking it into yours and sending the thrust into the floor.

Score:

Xavier- 4, Del- 3.

Match point to Xavier.

After smacking your thrust downward, the Shepherd holds his shield before him and brings his lightsaber up, then down in a powerful swing at your head.

Newjak
Xavier brings both of his sabers together into an x. Then using his massive strength upwards into Del's swing trying to force the blades back into him.

Captain REX
His lightsaber crashes into your crossed weapons and it becomes a contest of strength that decides this duel. He tries to press down so that your lightsabers grind into your arms, but is unable to do so as you press back and clamp your lightsabers to his. Holding the lock, you twist your blades and he loses grip of his weapon...

Score:

Xavier- 5, Del- 3.

Match to Xavier.

Feel describe your finishing move before returning the game thread...

Newjak
Xavier feels his grip loosen then arches his sabers outward throwing Del's saber away, knocking him to the ground.

Xavier places his foot on his chest.

"We told you we were about to end your life."

He wasn't bad

"But he wasn't good enough," Xavier says calmly to himself.
