im not against remakes but im definitely against this one. I'm sensing straight to dvd teen horror movie.
jaden101
So long as it has as much nakedness as the originals...count me in.
Impediment
Boo!
Roddy McDowell can never be replaced! He is, forever and always, Peter Vincent: Vampire Killer

One of the movies taht shouldn't get a remake it had this typical 80s charme IIRC
Blinky
I bet they will make this PG-13 in order to cash-in on the retarded mass of teeny-boppers.

True, they'll get somebody shitty to play Peter Vincent.

"Ooh your so cool Brewster"
"You have to have faith for that to work on me, Mr Vincent"

I think Quentin Tarantino should be the vampire that moves in next door.

Nah nah, Tarantino is a horrible actor.

Can't argue there even though he gave a decent performance in, From Dusk till Dawn but his lack of acting skills and ability to hypnotize an audience with his banter is why i suggested him

Oh yeah, he was good in From Dusk 'till Dawn. He was awesome as the crazy rapist.

I just don't know. It's such a charming classic of my youth that I wasn't allowed to see or even watch the commercials. Darn you Mom and Dad! Unless there is a Grade A Director that has a clear passion for this film , and wants to do a wonderful Homaze , then I just would'nt even want it touched.

Not sure if anyone has been keeping up with this at all, but they've managed to get a pretty solid cast together. And if anyone could live up to the old Peter Vincent it's gotta be David Tennant, though I'm not sure what to think about this new look... http://www.cinemablend.com/new/First-Look-At-David-Tennant-In-Fright-Night-Redo-20475.html
Obviously they're going for a different style here.
MildPossession
Oo I like that look a lot. A better look here:

Yeah someone that does magic......hmmm will wait and see.
General_Iroh
Yeah I'm wary about the direction they're taking, but my overwhelming love for David Tennant makes me think it can't be too bad. Though I should also mention that Christopher Mintz-Plasse a.k.a. McLovin as Evil Ed just doesn't sound good at all to me.
Blinky
^ THAT'S the new Peter Vincent? Are you f*cking kidding me ?!!?
That makes to want to vomit.

That just looks awful. It reminds me of a bad B horror movie that i would see on the bottom shelf at blockbuster and not even think twice about over looking
MildPossession
Apart from the dodgy art work, I'm still giving it hope, it's directed by the guy who made the wonderful Lars and the Real Girl.

Oh how could I forgot that "wonderful" movie...
MildPossession
It was an excellent film.
General_Iroh
Obviously they're trying to modernize Peter Vincent's role, but other than that I really don't see the problem with it.

Fright Night is without question my favourite horror/comedy movie, so I don't have high hopes for this. I am hoping it's good, though, and I still can't believe that's David Tennant in that poster...

Dr Who hey!
He's a good actor. If this turns out to be his Jack Sparrow then maybe.....maybe this could work.........................maybe.
srankmissingnin
He is supposed to look like a Chris Angel-esq douche bag, the cheesy art work is pretty obviously intentional...

Why would a magician want to fight a friggan vamp
the original made a bit more sense.

Peter Vincent didn't want to fight vampires in the original either. Charley went to him because he thought Peter had knowledge of vampires and the occult... a presumably narcissistic, ostentatious gothic magician fills the void of hapless mentor to the supernatural just as well (or better) than a late night movie host.

LOL... David Tennant left Doctor Who for this tripe! This is just as bad as when Christopher Eccleston left Doctor Who to go and star in G.I. Joe. Still, the movie could have high camp value... especially with McLovin playing the goofy evil ed. :P

Oh no McLovin as well!
This film is gonna be a comedy

This movie is going to suck, cast is as weak as pisswater. Still, i'll go and see it just to say "i've seen it......and it is shit"

Thanks Kazenji.
Doesn't look as bad as that terrible poster. But a pale imitation of the original still. Thank god Tennant isn't in goth gear.
Kazenji
Yeah the movie looks ok from the trailer just might be a decent remake.
-Pr-
It doesn't look half bad. It seems to follow it quite a bit in parts too...
Not that it would beat it.
Impediment
I took the liberty of moving this into an active forum.
I'm still wondering how that McLovin kid is going to do as "Evil" Ed.
The original Evil Ed was an awesome character, even if Stephen Geoffreys, the actor, was/is a gay porn star. Seriously, look it up on IMDB.
Evil Ed had one of the most horrifying, and saddening, death scenes in a film, in my opinion.
Esau Cairn
The movie/trailer kinda takes itself too seriously & lacks the charm of the original....

Really
weird freakin guy he was.
And yes Evil Ed was a perfect monster in Fright Night.

I challenge the remake to top this very emotional scene.
Kazenji
Probably be CGI involved like most horror these days.
wicker_man
It is laughable that people are already jumping on this (negatively) over a trailer, note to real world; people don't want a lecture that's longer than the trailer itself.
I for one am looking forward to this movie...even though the trailer could have done with more Tennant.
Rogue Jedi
Colin Farrell cast as Jerry. WOW, dude, just WOW......
Impediment
Wasn't Tennant in the Harry Potter films?
Rogue Jedi
Who the fudge is Tennant.
Impediment
Tennant was Barty Crouch in HP: GoF.
Rogue Jedi
Oh yeah, him. Yes. Not a bad choice for Ed, but the original was awesome.
Still hung up on Farrell cast as Jerry.
Rogue Jedi
Peter, not Ed. Yeah haermm
Rogue Jedi
Also, I noticed upon watching the trailer:
Ed tells Charlie that Jerry is a vampire.
Charlie is not some spastic teen like the original. Looks like he goes from average teen to badass vampire hunter.
Red Mist as Ed, fail.
Mairuzu
Epic movie, no need for a damn remake

Still hung up on Farrell cast as Jerry. Hes the only odd one. hes also playing Arnold role in the Total Recall remake. stupid
Rogue Jedi
Kyle Reese as Charlie is a good choice, but still, Charlie was a bit of a spaz, this guy seems a bit too cool.
Impediment
Who the hell is Kyle Reese?
Charlie is being portrayed by the kid who played Chekov in the Star Trek reboot.
Rogue Jedi
Anton Yelchin, dude who played Kyle in Salvation.

I've never seen Terminator: Salvation.

So I watched about a third of Fright Night tonight. Being a projectionist has its perks.
The first half hour was promising. The rest was entertaining but nothing compared to the original.
Colin as Jerry the Vampire was threatening. Very spooky.
Anton as Brewster was good. Though I expected more I blame the script.
David Tennant was Jack Sparrow and his character probably grew by the end but I didn't see it. I reckon he would've shined more by the end.
Toni Collette as the mum was awesome as always but didn't get nowhere enough screen time. The mother in the original was the ultimate loss for the hero if he failed. In this movie she gets put in the sin bin.
I didn't see the last half hour but this film did have enough chills to creep me out and the vampire had scenes that truly made me wanna see him get his ass kicked.
Also the film leaves the simple nextdoor formula and takes the threat outside of that basic setting.
house gets blown up.
Kazenji
A decent remake
Farrel did a good job of Jerry the vamp and surprised that they killed off Evil Ed in in it
also i just read Chris Sarandon was in it as a cameo, He played Jerry in the original
4/5 from me
mardook
Saw this, nothing special. The original is far more interesting and entertaining than this was. David Tennant left Doctor Who for this?! MUHAHAHAHA!
Anyway, I think Chris Sarandon plays the guy who stops and gets out of the car after the crash, he gets chewed up by Jerry.
Don't quote me on that one though.
