Didn't he just get power from Galactus' ship?

The ship that he created and can absorb at will?

He got his powers from the Ship but he doesn't depend on it, Taa-2 possesses information that lead to omnipotence. This has been stated in two Korvac storylines, and that's why Korvac became so uber after hacking the ship.

depends where he's at. uber-form could likely take Galactus out, to an extent.

But then Galactus should also know that information, right?

Yes, Galactus is supposed to have that knowledge already.
