Captain REX

Captain REX

Peach
(psssst, if this is four years after the stuff on Beseedra, it should be in 33 BBY, not 32...stick out tongue)

Rianna will use Dreams, of course.

As she approaches the decrepit farm, Rianna will use Sense, trying to see if there is anyone in the farmhouse or the barn.

Captain REX
(Edited.)

There are people in the farmhouse, but the barn is too far for Rianna to sense.

Peach
Is she able to get enough of a sense to have an idea of how many people are in the farmhouse?

She'll approach it, trying to stay hidden as much as possible while doing so.

Captain REX
You cannot determine an exact number, but you sense it is only a handful.

Rianna decides to press up against a wall, Splinter Cell-style, just as the man on watch comes out to sit on the front porch. She makes her Intrusion roll of eight dice... and scores not a single success! Want to blow a Lucky roll already?

Peach
...only my luck. I swear. No, not going to bother, I don't think. Not yet.

Seeing only one person come out, Rianna will draw her lightsaber (but not yet ignite it).

"Drop any weapons you might be carrying, and put your hands up," she says. "Quietly."

Captain REX
The man starts to go for his blaster until he sees the lightsaber in your hand. Instead, he stays frozen in place for a brief second before bolting back into the house.

"We've got company!" he shouts as he disappears through the front door. "Jedi on the lawn!"

Of course, having not stayed to keep track of you, Rianna is free to do as she pleases.

Peach
Is there a backdoor to this building?

Captain REX
You would assume so.

Peach
Well, assuming that if whoever is inside is going to attempt an escape they would not try the exit that the Jedi is in front of, she is going to sneak around to the back of the building and enter that way.

Captain REX
Two succeses allows for Rianna to quietly slip around the side of the house. You hear the front door fly open once more and the pounding of boots on the wooden porch, and you sense everyone heading towards the front.

Peach
Huh. Or maybe they care more about trying to kill the Jedi, or something...

Assuming there's a door in the back, Rianna will slip inside and use the fact that everyone's rushing towards the front to sneak up behind them.

Captain REX
Maybe.

Rianna rolls three successes as she quietly moves in through the back door. It leads to a kitchen that does not appear to have been cleaned in years. A hallway outside the kitchen leads to a foyer by the front door, where a group of five men are standing with blasters.

"Where'd she go?" one of them shouts to the others.

Peach
This time, as Rianna walks up to them, she will ignite her lightsaber.

"Now, that wasn't very smart of you," she says, angling it into a defensive position. "I do recall telling one of you to put down your weapons. I'd advise everyone to do so."

Captain REX
Rianna, something is off. Normally drugged-out thugs like these would drop their guns at the sight of a lightsaber lighting up. Instead, they turn and get ready to fire. They absolutely reek of fear... and yet they are still doing this.

Your Blade Schticks, please...

Peach
Hmm. That is a bit odd...

Anyway, Orthodox Guard, Cleave, and Perfect Strike, please.

Captain REX
Due to her decent Intrusion rolling, Rianna is able to have first blood.

Here is the situation as it stands...

----

ABANDONED FARM BUST, START OF TURN 1

Foyer

Thugs x5 (G 5): 0

Rianna (LS 12 / FP 5): 3/3/0

----

Peach
Do any of them seem to stand out as any sort of leader?

Rianna will make a simple attack on the nearest thug, not tapping any powers or anything.

Captain REX
Rianna goes after a thug. With a Lightsaber pool of 12, boosted to 16 by her weapon's Mook Killing Power of 2, it is no surprise that she rolls eight successes in her attack. Her lightsaber tears through the first thug in a downward slash, then skims across the floor before coming up into the second thug. Two down, three to go.

They fire back frantically, and Rianna takes minor damage.

----

ABANDONED FARM BUST, START OF TURN 2

Foyer

Thugs x3 (G 5): 0

Rianna (LS 12 / FP 5): 3/3/8

----

Peach
Rianna will continue with batting away their attacks and methodically dispatching each of her attackers.

Captain REX
Rianna scores another eight successes, deflecting the thugs' shots as she closes before quickly dispatching two of them with a pair of twirling blows.

This leaves one thug standing. He misses, his shots going wide and exploding on the staircase next to you.

----

ABANDONED FARM BUST, START OF TURN 3

Foyer

Thugs x1 (G 5): 0

Rianna (LS 12 / FP 5): 3/3/0

----

Rather pointlessly, it is a Refresh turn.

Peach
Woohoo pointless!

Rianna will quickly finish the fight, dispatching the remaining thug. Once that is done, she'll search them to see if she can find anything.

Captain REX
Eight successes finishes him off, Rianna's lightsaber stabbing straight through him.

What are you looking for?

Peach
Anything that could be evidence or give her any sorts of info - IDs or documents or that sort of thing.

She's also going to use Sense to see if anything feels off or wrong.

Captain REX
The old farmhouse is mostly empty. Some of the thugs had been doing shots of huxley, so at first you attribute their daring for being high, but you think they actually would have been more frightened while tripping. Something else was influencing them.

You feel cold, Rianna.

Peach
Hmmm. Something is certainly not right...

If there is nothing more in the house, then, Rianna is going to make her way towards the barn, sensing to see if there's anything/anyone in there on her way. Doing so as sneakily as possible, of course.

Captain REX
The field between the farmhouse and the barn is overgrown with tall grass and wild plants. For Rianna to sneak through it is a simple task, and she gets three successes on her Intrusion roll. She quietly towards the barn without problem.

The large doors of the barn are cracked open slightly. You cannot sense anyone about.

Peach
Hmm. Rianna finds the fact that she cannot sense anyone unusual - she thinks that there should definitely be people about, other than the ones she came across in the house.

She'll slip into the barn, then, and investigate what's inside.

Captain REX
The barn contains an old and rusted tractor-speeder, several bales of rotted hay, some farming equipment... but no people.

You do find evidence of people walking through the barn, though, with dusty footprints in the debris of farming laying about.

Peach
Are there any other buildings, or is the house and the barn it?

Rianna is going to keep her lightsaber out and in her hand, then, just in case, as she fully inspects the entire barn. She wants to make sure that there is nothing here and if there is anything, she wants to find it.

Captain REX
Just the house and the barn.

You notice that the tracks inside the barn are all on one path. Sometimes they branch off, but it seems like they do not go anywhere else in the barn.

Peach
Well, let's see where they lead to, then...

Captain REX
Following the trail of footsteps, you approach a stack of hay-bales. The footprints stop there.

Peach
Does Rianna sense anything?

And if they stop there...well, whoever made the footprints didn't just fly away. There has to be something here. Rianna's going to investigate, using the Force to move about the hay bales if necessary.

Captain REX
Without Lifting, that is not something that Rianna can casually do. However, you sense that there is life below you, somewhere.

Peach
Damn Rianna and her lack of physical strength!

She is going to guess that under the hay bales there is a trapdoor...and she can make one of her own using her lightsaber. So that's what she'll do.

Captain REX
Igniting her lightsaber, Rianna cuts a hole in the floorboards wide enough fo her to slip down. It is hollow and dark underneath the floorboards; you can see the ladder leading down from the original trap door into the dirty cave-like entrance.

Peach
Does Rianna have anything with her she can use as a light other than her lightsaber?

She'll carefully lower herself through the hole, still sensing around.

Captain REX
Rianna can have a glowrod.

You do not see anything immediately in the hole except for the ladder. Not using the ladder would result in falling down; not so much a problem for a Jedi, but it might be noisy.

Peach
What about using the Force to pull the ladder over so she can make use of it?

Captain REX
It is bolted in place.

Peach
Grrr, how lame.

Saber throw could always detach it but Rianna doesn't want to do that as it'd bring attention to herself, most likely.

Can I use the Force to soften the landing so it's not so noisy without actually spending a point? If that's possible, do that. If not...eh, toss some of the hay scattered around down to muffle the noise, and jump down.

REXXXX
You could always just, you know, jump over to the ladder...

Peach
...or there is that.

Let's do that.

(shut up. I'm tired.)

REXXXX
Rianna passes her Acrobatics check and is now on the ladder. Stealthily snaking her way down it, she ends up at the end of the ladder where there is a metal hatch. You sense life beyond.

Peach
Well, then, let's open up the hatch and continue down the rabbit hole...

REXXXX
The hatch opens up with a creak and shows you a massive room beyond. You are situated on the top floor, where the hatch opens to, and from here you can see a series of walkways extending over something that is steaming and boiling. Armed men in gas masks are treading over the walkways, keeping watch over the rest of the room.

It smells terrible in here, exactly like the scent given off by a dose of huxley. You have found what you were looking for.

Peach
Ewwww. Rianna will use the sleeve of her robe to cover her face.

About how many people does she see down there?

REXXXX
From where you are, you can only see across the top floor. There are about ten guards patrolling the gangways, but you sense more people here.

Peach
Hmmmm. Well, Rianna rather wants to take care of this herself, but is not so foolhardy as to think that nothing will go wrong. She'll comm back to the police that she's found where the huxley is coming from.

Then she is going to hop down to one of the walkways, looking for an area where she can ambush some of the guards.

REXXXX
Hmm... your comlink does not have reception down here.

There is a stack of crates near the hatchway that Rianna can go for, if she passes her Intrusion roll. Going for it?

Peach
Odd. Well, they knew Rianna was heading there anyway, I'm sure.

And yes, go for it.

REXXXX
Rianna rolls an overwhelming seven successes on her Intrusion roll and silently slips down from the hatch and into the huddle of crates nearby. Her view here is not much better, but you can see that the room is deep- three levels total. You can only see the guards on the top floor and the guards on this floor- fifteen total.

Peach
Rianna will wait, then, until some of them come close to where she is, before coming out of her hiding place, lightsaber out and ignited.

"Put down your weapons and let's do this quietly. You're under arrest."

REXXXX
Rianna quickly intimidates her prey into dropping his weapon, but the sudden flash and hum of a lightsaber leads to everyone turning their blasters in your direction when you stride out onto the gangways to do this; you also can see that there are five guards below you as well. Not the optimum situation, here.

Below the gangways is a massive vat in which huxley is being brewed, the nauseating fumes wafting past you. Below are dozens of people stirring the pungent mixture, but they stop when you appear.

"Get her!" shouts a man down below, who you immediately recognize as Durak, the low-life rumored to be running this operation. He is unattractive and greasy, with a tall and lanky frame.

Peach
Not optimum, but I'm sure there's been worse before.

Same three tricks as before, please.

REXXXX
Noted.

Upon Durak's command, all of the goons in the hallucinogenic production area turn their blasters in Rianna's direction. They are going to fire their blasters regardless of her holding a hostage, meaning she has nineteen shooters coming her way. Durak has snapped forth his own heavy pistol as well.

Rianna is afforded a point of cover from attacks from the upper and lower walkways.

Durak (G 8): 1/1/0

----

Peach
Well, Rianna will start by clearing this level, then, I think, as she moves forward to attack one of the thugs.

REXXXX
The thugs gain intiative, and so start shooting! Three successes are absorbed by the thug you grabbed; they are not discriminate with their targets and he is blasted apart. Rianna takes a few hits from the thugs herself despite the cover she gets from the arrangement of the walkways. A shot from Durak, who rolled four successes with Gunslinger (with cover removing one), explodes through the walkway by her feet.

Under heavy fire, Rianna strides forward and cuts down two of her attackers with relative ease, both falling over the edge of the walkway into the vat of boiling goo.

Peach
Rianna will tap Perfect Strike, moving to quickly finish the two guards on her level, suddenly less sure about this going well.

Swap the tapped PS for Riposte.

REXXXX
Initiative is a tie, going to Rianna for player privilege! The next tie will go to the baddies, but for now Rianna continues her assault on the drug-running thugs, rolling eleven successes as she cuts down a pair of them.

Her tap of Perfect Strike gives her a Defense of 4, lowering every thug but Durak to a single die... meaning none of them hit due to the cover of the walkways! Durak misses for the same reason.

Peach
Rianna will leap back up to the top level, using Coordination to keep free from harm as she does so.

REXXXX
Baddies win initiative, meaning that Rianna remains on the lower walkways during their torrent of firing. But with Coordination active, it means that not only will the thugs need to roll 6s to hit her, they will need two in order to bypass her cover. As it turns out, a thug from above hits, as does Durak (Gunslinger turns a 1 into a 6, though he rolled sufficiently as it is).

Rianna then performs an acrobatic maneuver to get up to the upper walkways, a simple use of Leaping that she passes with ease.

Rianna shall start cleaving her way through the guards up here, then, trying to take them out as quickly as possible.

REXXXX
Rianna gets initiative and, with seven successes, chops down a pair of the thugs opposing her. However, she takes several hits from the thugs she has jumped into the midst of. Those below are opposed by two points of cover (including Durak) and do not hit at all.

Rianna is in dire straights of course...

Peach
Oh. Well. This is bad...

Tap Orthodox Guard and Riposte, then, and let's see how much of this floor I can clear...

(swap OG for Forward Guard once it's tapped out)

REXXXX
Rianna gets her attacks in before the shooters do. However, with her Riposte being treated as a regular attack that benefits from Cleave, the tapped version gets +5 to her attacks, so she has a pool of 19. Her first Riposte gets her a Cleave kill with 17 successes thanks to the tapping of Orthodox Guard. She pulls this off on a second Riposte attack, and on a third... getting her six kills total. If she taps Cleave, however, only the highest will be taken (which is still mightily impressive).

And with Orthodox Guard tapped, everyone misses her.

And it's a Refresh turn! Talk about a reversal of luck...

Peach
Swap out Riposte for Perfect Strike, then, as Rianna moves to clear this level.

Also, tap Cleave. May as well use those 17 successes to keep safe stick out tongue

REXXXX
Tapping Cleave gives Rianna a great deal of protection when the bad guys fire first again. In the firing, Rianna loses ten points of protection as she deflects incoming lasers.

However, those points do not work against Durak, who is a Named Character. A bolt from his pistol catches Rianna in the side and she pitches to the ground before she can finish her attack...

Peach
Oh, hell...

Well, not much Rianna can do at the moment except wonder how she managed to mess this one up so quickly...

REXXXX
"Secure her!" shouts Durak from the bottom floor, holstering his pistol. The two thugs remaining on the upper walkways quickly make for you, stepping around the bodies of their fallen comrades...

A swarm of laser bolts catches one of them and blows him off the walkway. The other ducks down next to you as a few go after him, sparking and bursting on the railing of the walkway.

You feel cold, Rianna. Unnaturally so.

Peach
"Get away from me," she hisses at the one near her, shivering a bit from the weird cold feeling.

Can she see where the laser bolts are coming from? And does using Sense give her anything more than just a cold feeling?

REXXXX
Yes... you can sense the Force being used.

At either end of the room, on the upper walkways, two figures in black robes have appeared. Both are holding pistols, though you can tell that one is more comfortable with it than the other; he is firing off a torrent of shots from a repeating pistol, again hitting his target next to you. The other turns his attention downwards and awkwardly shoots at one of the goons next to the vat. It kills him.

Durak, you notice, seems to be choking. He drops his pistol and clutches at his throat.

Peach
Well, Rianna is more than just a little bit uncomfortable about that, though she is also curious as to who these two figures are...

REXXXX
Between the two of them, their rapid firing manages to take out the remaining thugs in seconds. Once they have done so, they quickly move across the walkway towards you and keep you covered with their blasters.

A third figure in black robes and a hood then steps out from the hatch that you used to enter the lair, his pale white hand clenched in a tight fist. Below, Durak falls to his knees before you sense his life extinguished, and he lays still after flopping to the ground. The figure relaxes his fist.

Peach
Is Rianna still feeling cold?

She'll try to sit up, at least, as they approach, leaning on the railing to the walkway if needed.

"Who are you, and what do you want?" she asks, slightly annoyed but also confused and curious. Using her senses to try and detect anything odd, as always. "And you can put those away, I'm in no shape to attempt anything right now..."

REXXXX
Yes.

When you sit up, you notice something else... all three of them have lightsabers hanging from their belts. The two with pistols do not respond and keep you covered.

The third figure is quiet for a moment, but then slowly reaches up and lowers his hood... revealing bleached white skin, bulbous black eyes, and a collection tentacles, tied back by some black bands.

"Rianna, I'm disappointed," says Nume Rand, former Jedi Master. "I thought this would have been a simple task for you."

Peach
"...you," she says, surprised by his appearance, though her surprise turns into barely supressed anger very quickly. "What are you doing here? I want nothing to do with you. And I will tell the Council that you were here."

REXXXX
"Simple. You have foiled my operation here on Reecee. You discovered it and told the police where it was you were going, and so it no longer has any potential. Durak served his purpose, and so did his men.

"As for telling the Council of my whereabouts... you can only do that if you get in touch with them, yes?"

Peach
"You were behind this? You should have known that someone would be sent out to investigate...and just exactly what purpose could this have?" Rianna says. She doesn't reply to his second point, remembering that her comm wasn't working earlier.

REXXXX
"What else do you gain from trading drugs?" Rand asks.

Peach
"So the violence and murders mean nothing to you, so long as you get a bit of money," Rianna states, fairly harshly. "But of course, why should I be surprised. Look what you did to Foghren simply because he wouldn't go along with your insanity..."

"So now what?" she asks, rather aware of the fact that she can't do anything herself at this point.

REXXXX
"Foghren was a failure of mine; he was unable to see what power lay within the grasp of the Dark Side," Rand says. "I have found others who think differently, as you can see. Of course... I always have room for more students, Rianna."

Peach
"He also was the only person I ever could call a friend," Rianna snaps. "And no. Never."

REXXXX
"You say that now, but you and I both know that you cannot control your own emotions," Rand says. "I sensed your anger quite clearly when I appeared."

Peach
"I am not that far hopeless...at least I try."

REXXXX
"Do, or do not," Rand says, with a wicked grin. "Trying doesn't cut it. You will understand that soon enough."

Peach
"I'm not going to give up. I worked hard to get this far, and did it despite the doubts of others. I am not going to quit, and I am not going to join you."

REXXXX
"That is not what I have foreseen," Rand says.

Peach
"I don't care what you've foreseen. It's wrong. There is no way I am going to join you, and any attempt you try will fail."

REXXXX
"You are right. It is entirely possible that you will not. But... I intend to push my visions closer to becoming reality. Only time will tell."

"Master, can we get on with this?" one of the other darkly robed figures says. "I sense our time is growing short..."

"Patience, my apprentice," Rand says. "We have time yet. Rianna, I am going to give you a chance to stop my next plan. How does that sound?"

Peach
"You won't succeed. And somehow, I don't trust you as far as I could throw you," Rianna replies. "How do I know it's not some sort of trap?"

REXXXX
"How do you know that it is?" the other robed figure asks, his voice higher and younger. The gruff-voiced man gestures for him to shut up.

Rand seems content to let you come up with an answer to that.

Peach
"I don't, but I do know that the Dark Side twists everything, and I'd be a fool to trust anything out of any of your mouths. Especially you, Rand."

REXXXX
Rand smiles, baring his teeth. Physically, he is different than you remember. His green skin has been bleached white, and his teeth are filed down into points. He looks unhealthy.

"Good. I see some of Myraline's stubborness in you, girl. It will provide more of a challenge for my students. You see, they need a sufficient challenge for me to be satisfied that they are, in fact, ready for the Galaxy. You, my darling girl, are one of the most talented Jedi I know. In the process, I want to break you. And I will break you."

Peach
"You think my stubbornness comes from Myraline? She's nothing compared to me in that regard..." Rianna retorts, though she's becoming increasingly nervous with the situation.

REXXXX
"That's nice," Rand says. "Now, listen carefully. There is something I want. This something is inside a box. The box is inside a mansion. The mansion is on the planet Ord Coridari. You will stop me, or my associates and I will take it."

Peach
"Why? What is so important about this box? And I can't just abandon a mission from the Council, and if I were in any shape to stop you right now I wouldn't be sitting here still talking to you."

REXXXX
"Your business on Reecee is done," Rand says. "I know, because I was running everything. And now I'm leaving. So there you go. Free to do as you please! I'm sure the Council will be very interested in what I've been up to. How's everyone? Myraline? Ciira? I'm sure you're pleased that Myraline has found a Padawan that she gets along better with..."

Peach
Rianna doesn't reply, simply glaring at him in reply and trying to not rise to the bait. Especially as she feels a bit betrayed that Myraline does get along much better with Ciira than she did with her.

REXXXX
"Ah, yes, that does irk you, doesn't it?" Rand says. "You have a strong mind, Rianna, but you cannot keep it from me."

His apprentices snicker.

"Nor can they," Rand comments, looking up at them. Their snickering ceases. "So, Rianna, will you go to Ord Coridari? I want that box, and if I am a Dark Jedi, something I want must be something that the Order doesn't want me to have..."

Peach
"I...I'll have to see..." Rianna says. She still doesn't trust that this isn't a trap that Rand has set for her.

REXXXX
"That's the spirit!" he says, bending down and tousling Rianna's hair. He uses the Force and calls her lightsaber to him, then starts walking off down the walkway, towards a hatch on the opposite end of the room.

His apprentices follow, putting away their blasters and replacing them with their lightsabers- both red. Rand turns and raises a hand as they lower their lightsabers into the walkway and begin cutting.

Peach
Rianna suppresses a surge of anger, and then is quickly very confused and nervous again.

"Wait - what are you doing? And give me back my lightsaber!" she shouts, pulling herself so that she is standing.

REXXXX
Your blaster wound hurts immensely, so you are more leaning against the railing than standing.

"You'll see," Rand says, closing his eyes as his students finish cutting through the walkway. For a moment you brace yourself for the fall- but the walkway remains in place.

You sense people coming down the ladder from above.

Peach
"I'll see what?!" Rianna asks, hissing at the pain from her wound. While Rand appears to be distracted, she'll attempt to call her own lightsaber back.

Might be a bit stupid to ask, but what are her senses saying? stick out tongue

REXXXX
Rianna can sense that Rand is using the Force, that people are coming down the ladder, and personal danger. And no cigar; Rianna cannot focus enough with her injury to pull her lightsaber back from Rand's grasp.

Rand's students put away their lightsabers and follow after him, drawing their blasters once more. The gruff-speaking student snaps out a small forward grip on his light pistol, while the young-sounding student simply waves his pistol in the direction of the hatch. Out from it comes a group of Reecee policemen, armed with blasters and wearing SWAT-style blast-armor. Bolts start flying as the policemen come running out onto your walkway; Rand's students seem to be intentionally missing.

Peach
"They're up to something - they've cut the walkway and I think he's using the Force to hold it up," Rianna says to the police as they arrive. "We need to get out of here!"

If she's able to move, I want her to head to the hatch...

REXXXX
Rianna cannot be heard above the din of gunfire- precisely the reason the Dark Jedi are firing back at all, to add to the noise. Rianna starts to move against the flow of policemen which delays her...

Once a fair amount of policemen have made it onto the walkway, the two gunslinging Dark Jedi shoot the lead man repeatedly, riddling him with bolts until his front is charred and brittle. This delays the policemen behind him... and Rand drops his hand casually. The walkway begins to descend rapidly, with nothing between it and the boiling vat below.

Peach
If there is anything Rianna can grab a hold of to keep herself from falling (the railing, or something), she'll do so. If not, then she'll attempt to jump from the falling walkway, attempting to land on the walkway below, but even if she should miss that and fall to the ground, it'd probably be better than falling into the vat of doom...

REXXXX
Which will it be? Grabbing on or leaping clear?

Peach
Grabbing on. Leaping clear is for if that idea fails.

REXXXX
You only have time for one or the other.

Peach
Grab on, then.

REXXXX
Grabbing on then...

Rianna grabs hold of one of the railings as the walkway suddenly pitches downwards on the severed side. The policemen, not expecting this sudden change in terrain, are tossed flailing down into the boiling liquid huxley, disappearing beneath the surface with sickening slurps and resurfacing with mortified screams of anguish. Rianna holds on as tightly as she can and almost loses hold when the swinging walkway bangs against the wall.

Rand then raises his hand again and twists the walkway to one side, trying to brush Rianna off. The apprentices are picking off the policemen above you, some falling past after they have been shot (one definitely uttering a Wilhelm as he goes).

Peach
Well, as all Rianna can really do right now is cling to the railing for dear life and hope she doesn't lose her grip on it, she'll continue to do that.

REXXXX
The walkway groans and whines as the metal warps and smashes into the wall again. And then it tears lose, plummeting spinning into the vat.

Peach
Ah, dear.

Is it possible for Rianna to position herself or push herself off of the railing/walkway so that she'll miss the vat? Because if so, she will certainly do so.

REXXXX
Rianna throws herself clear... but her leap does not quite carry her far enough and she too is falling into the vat. You wait for the boiling liquid to engulf you and burn you alive... but you feel yourself slow and stop merely inches from the liquid huxley.

Above, Rand is laughing.

Peach
"Make up your mind if you're going to kill me or not, and stop toying with me already!" Rianna shouts up at him, trying to control her fear at how close she came to dying just then.

REXXXX
"This is far more fun than being a Jedi," Rand laughs. "If only you knew how this feels, this total freedom to do as you want, with nobody to chastise you. And if they try, you KILL THEM!"

He moves his hand and guides you through the air slowly before dropping you amidst a stack of crates. His students have pinned down the remaining policemen, and Rand turns with a swirl of his robe and steps into the farther hatch. His students vanish after him shortly after.

Peach
Rianna watches as he leaves, trying to ignore what he said, before pulling herself out of the pile of crates. Are any of the other policemen left?

REXXXX
None. Those that fell into the vat have now expired, and the rest have been blasted apart by Rand's students (the very existence of which worries you greatly).

Peach
Is there another exit out of here? Or is Rianna going to have to climb back up to the top?

She's going to check to see if her comm is still not working, btw.

And everything right now rather worries her. And she's still very put out that Rand took her lightsaber, as she feels pretty helpless without it.

REXXXX
Still not working. Climbing back up to the top is your safest bet; otherwise, you will hve to go looking for another exit and you are not sure where any of them lead, or if you will just end up running into Rand once more.

Peach
Which she definitely does not want to do right now.

Well, climbing carefully back to the top will be it, then.

REXXXX
It is a slow and painful ascent, Rianna, having to pull yourself up a series of ladders after being wounded and rattled as you were. However, soon Rianna emerges into the barn and finds the transport that the police used to reach the farm- having not trusted you to take this alone, you think. Between Rand's departure and Rianna's arrival at the Reecee police station, nothing eventful occurs. When you arrive, the police rush to get you medical treatment for your burns and ask what happened to the rest of the team.

Peach
"They're all dead," Rianna explains as they treat her injuries. "It had been an operation set up by a Dark Jedi and two of his apprentices. They killed all of the police, and likely are long gone by now."

REXXXX
The police, of course, are totally freaked out when you tell them this, and Rianna is sent to talk to the Chief, to report in full what happened so that a clean-up crew may be sent, and whether or not the threat still remains.

Peach
Well, Rianna will tell the chief the same thing she just said, for starters.

"There should be no more drug problems, now that this is shut down," she says. "Nor should Reecee need to worry about the ones behind it. They'll be leaving the planet very quickly. I would have tried to keep them from escaping...but I was in no shape to do so and my lightsaber was stolen from me."

She pauses for a moment.

"I will need to contact the Jedi Council as soon as I can..."

REXXXX
The Chief is pleased to hear that the drug problem is seemingly solved, but he despairs over the deaths of his police officers.

"Were you unable to save them, Jedi?" he asks pointedly. "Just like you were unable to prevent our culprits from fleeing?"

Peach
"I tried to warn them of what was happening," Rianna replies, slightly irritated. "It was all I could do, given the circumstances. Do you know how difficult it is to make yourself heard in the midst of a firefight? And I had certainly not expected the culprits to be who they were."

REXXXX
"And who were they, exactly?" the Chief asks. "I need to issue a warrant for their arrests, you understand."

Peach
"I only know the name of one. Nume Rand, a former Jedi Master. The other two never gave names," Rianna replies.

"And I really need to get this information to the Council. They will be better equipped to deal with a former Master. Even I cannot handle Rand alone, let alone with his students," she adds, though the last part pains her to admit. "Especially without my weapon."

REXXXX
"Should've done a better job of keeping hold of it," the Chief says, rudely. "Thank you for your time, go talk to your Council. I have paperwork to do and wives to inform."

Peach
Rianna stalks out of the room in annoyance without replying; it was easy for others to make comments on things they knew little of. If she had been able to keep a hold on her lightsaber, she certainly would still have it with her.

I suppose she shall go back to wherever it is she has been staying while on Reecee, and contact the Council from there. She doesn't want anyone bothering her while she makes this report.

REXXXX
The Council correspondent to the case on Reecee is Master Ki-Adi-Mundi. You can contact him from the hotel room that was reserved for Rianna.

Peach
Rianna will go ahead and contact him, then, seating herself on her bed.

"Master, I believe this investigation is all but done. The drug problem has been dealt with, and I discovered who was behind it," Rianna says, turning slightly uncomfortable. "Unfortunately I wasn't able to stop them, and they escaped. Nor was I wasn't able to pursue them. And I was certainly not expecting who I found was behind this mess."

REXXXX
"Who was it that was behind this unpleasant drug business?" Ki-Adi-Mundi inquires.

Peach
"Nume Rand. He also appears to have two students of his own, now."

REXXXX
"Rand? This is most dire news. Rianna, I am recalling you immediately. I expect to see you on Coruscant as soon as you can be here. Ki-Adi-Mundi out."

He cuts off the connection promptly.

Peach
Rianna is a little bit annoyed that he cut the connection before she could respond, though there really wasn't much she could say in response. And while she'd like to ignore the order, she didn't really feel comfortable doing anything else at the moment.

So, with a lack of anything else to do, and with her work on Reecee being finished, she will gather whatever things she has with her and prepare to leave as soon as she can.

REXXXX
Despite Rianna being fresh to the world of Knighthood, she is not without her connections. Myraline once had a long-time friend who piloted for her, a man named Quint who you remember well... but now a good-spirited man named Colby pilots for her, and you. Myraline typically sends him to retrieve you from missions when she is not utilizing his services. He pilots a large starfreighter, the Viloc. The man runs a freight service.

"Hey, girlie," Colby greets you with, a young man with his hair slicked back, after arriving on Reecee. He is wearing an ugly gray sweater and a pair of brown slacks with worn-through boots. A pair of pistols is strapped to his waist. "How'd things go?"

Peach
"Well, I completed my assignment and I'm alive. That's pretty much all that's good that can be said, though," Rianna says. "I'll be happy once we're well away from here."

REXXXX
"That's the best some of us can do, I suppose. Keep on living." Colby winks, then gestures towards the Viloc. It is an old Gozanti model, long and ovular, made bulky with further armor plating and additional armaments, most notably a pair of long cannons at the front. "After you, miss."

Peach
"Thanks..." Rianna says, heading onto the ship.

"Out of curiosity. What do you know about Ord Coridari?"

REXXXX
"Ord Coridari? Like any of the Ords, houses a Republic military base," Colby says, which is true- Ord is short for Ordinance/Regional Depot. "I think Ord Coridari, though... had mines or something. Pretty wealthy for being so far out. I don't know, though, most Ords are not good places."

Peach
"No, they tend not to be..." Rianna replies, filing away that info and making a mental note to do a bit more research once back on Coruscant, when she has access to the Archives. "Oh well. Let's get out of here."

REXXXX
"Let's," Colby says. "Now that you've mopped up the drug business... I daresay Reecee is yet again dull and uninteresting."

The Viloc takes off shortly after, taking its passenger hurtling towards Coruscant once it hits lightspeed...

-

A pair of men watch the Gozanti cruiser take off, unnoticed by its pilot and its passenger. The first is young and impressionable, wearing an all-black ensemble that matches his hair. The second is traveled and bitter, his clothes matching with their stains and tears. Both are in possession of blasters and lightsabers, one of each hanging from their belts.

"There she goes," the first comments. "Do you think she's going straight to Ord Coridari?"

The second snorts. "You kidding? She's a Jedi, she's got to report in to her masters and all that gumf."

"So do we," the first reminds.

"Yeah, well..." the second responds, but his response trails off. The first studies him for a moment, then pulls out his comlink.

"Master Rand, Rianna has left the planet."

"Excellent," crackles through the hissing voice of Rand. "We make for our destination immediately."

The first puts away his comlink. "You heard him. Let's get back to the ship."

The second stands, watching the Gozanti cruiser disappear in the upper atmosphere, saying nothing. The first waits for just a moment before quietly turning away and hopping off the roof of the starport.

"A challenge..." the second says, now alone. "We will see."

He follows his peer.

-

When the Viloc sets down on Coruscant, there is someone waiting for it. Myraline stands there alone, her robes folded about her. It is a cold day on Coruscant, with a threat of rain.

"I hear that Reecee held complications," Myraline says when you step out of the ship, getting right to business. Colby shrugs and wanders off to check part of his ship. "Are you alright, Rianna?"
