doesn't proteus require living hosts or is has that been discarded?

He does not require a living host, as he is able to exist in a purely energy form, as he can warp reality and matter to his imagination.

Only reality manipulators are immune to Proteus' powers. Proteus takes over SS.

Reality manipulators are immune to Proteus's powers? Not that I know of.

The only immunity that he had before, was that he was unable to take over the bodies of those who had metal in them. And that was just about possession, not warping reality or the matter of them.

Then again that whole thing not being able to possess metal individuals was discarded, as he was just able to warp them or matter manipulate them from the start anyway.

He couldn't take over Longshots body. Longshot is a very small scale reality warper (In Marvel Luck powers are related to reality warping)
