Titles:

Junior Warrant Officer (02/01/17, USCSS Kurtz)
Warrant Officer (01/12/17, USCSS Sephoria, 06/11/19, USCSS Sotillo, 10/08/20, USCSS Nostromo)
Lieutenant (unknown)
Project Advisor/Consultant (06/07/79, USS Sulaco)

Career:

On 25th May, 2115, Ellen Ripley graduates from Evansbrook Academy. She is named as the top of her class, and is noted as having shown excellence in law, ethics and corporate affairs. Within a fortnight she is accepted for a placement on Weyland-Yutani's "Horizons Beyond - Officer Training" program. She completes this program, with honours, on December 21st, 2116.

Her first post-training job is on board the USCSS Kurtz, a cargo vessel, where she serves as Junior Warrant Officer. She then gets promoted to a fully qualified Warrant Officer and is transferred to another cargo vessel, the USCSS Sephoria. After completing her assignment there, she moves on to the USCSS Sotillo, and is finally assigned to the USCSS Nostromo where she is acknowledged as being third in command, behind the Captain and Executive Officer. She also takes a brief stint as acting Captain of the Nostromo whilst Captain Dallas and Executive Officer Kane, along with Navigator Lambert, leave the ship to investigate the planetoid 'LV-426'. She resumes this role after the deaths of Dallas and Kane.

In 2179, after having spent 57 years in hypersleep, Ellen faces a court hearing over the events that transpired on, and led to the destruction of, the USCSS Nostromo. It is decided that she is unfit to hold her I.C.C. License (as a 'Commercial Flight Officer') and so it is suspended. She is also ordered to undertake a six month period of psychometric probation, including a monthly psychiatric assessment. However, on July 6th, less than a month since the court hearing, Ripley has her license re-instated, along with her reputation, and is given the opportunity to join the crew of the USS Sulaco as a Project Advisor/Consultant, and to give direct information and advice concerning the alien threat. She reluctantly accepts this position, and joins the crew of the USS Sulaco. This is the last formal role she would undertake.

Other History:

On January 7th, 2092, Ellen L. Ripley (ID# 759/L2-01N) was born. Not much is known about Ellen's first 25 years on Earth, other than the fact that she had a daughter, Amanda, when she was just 19 years of age. Four years later, Ellen begins her working life at Weyland-Yutani, first as a trainee, and then rapidly progressing through the ranks to a fully-qualified Warrant Officer and Commercial Flight Officer. Again, her past remains sketchy, up until the day of August 10th, 2010.

It was on this day that Ellen joined the crew of the Nostromo. On this ship she joins the ranks of Captain A.J. Dallas (ID# 032/V4-07C), who's team includes Executive Officer G.W. 'Thomas' Kane (ID# 825/G9-01K) (who is Ripley's superior, making her third in command), Navigator J.M. Lambert (ID# 971/L6-02P) and Jones, a cat. The Nostromo was on it's way to Thedus, having left Solomons in January. After picking Ellen up, she continues on her course until the 10th of September, when she makes another short stop to pick up further crew members - namely Chief Engineer J.T. Parker (ID# 313/S4-08M) and Engineering Technician S.E. Brett (ID# 724/R4-06J). She then continues on her journey to Thedus - a journey which reaches completion during April the following year.

On June 12th, 2121, Ellen and the Nostromo crew depart Thedus, bound for Earth with 20,000,000 tonnes of mineral ore, and a new Science Officer, Ash (ID# 111/C2/01X). The crew enter hypersleep on schedule, and remain in this suspended dream world for almost a year. However, on June 3rd, 2122, the crew are rudely awoken very early by the ship's system, nick-named 'Mother'. Mother had picked up a signal from the planetoid named 'LV-426', and has assumed it to be a distress call. Under the terms of her programming, Mother must navigate the ship towards the origin of the call, and arouse the members of her crew. Almost immediately Lambert spots that they are nowhere near their intended destination, and after a short 'chat' with Mother, Dallas concludes that they have in fact been awoken early, to respond to a distress call which, judging by the abnormal technique of construction, is believed to be of non-human origin. The crew protest investigating such a matter in an almost 'off-the-grids', unchartered planet. However, the point is raised that if they do not investigate, they will be in breach of their contract and will be forfeiting all pay and bonuses. The hard-up crew agree that an investiagtion must be carried out.

What occurs over the next three days are events which began a saga of adventures for Ellen Ripley, and a combination of tragedies. To begin with, all seems relatively normal. Half of the crew, led by both Dallas and Kane (leaving Ripley in charge on deck), head out to investigate this foreign land, and find almost nothing. Almost. Kane unfortunately discovers the follised remains of a Xenomorph nest, an until that point unknown alien species. One of the eggs, at least, is not wholly dead, and it produces a palm-sized, spidery creature which attaches itself to Kane's face, and seems to kill him. Dallas returns with the team to the Nostromo, but is initially denied access by Ripley on terms of quarantine issues. However, Ash ignores her orders and lets his Captain on board. It later emerges that Ash is an android, and a mole at that. Whilst the rest of the crew are only concerned for Kane's safety, Ash is more amazed by the creature attached to his face. However, before this is even revealed, the crew succeed in removing the creature from Kane's face, and have seemingly saved his life in doing so, as well as discovering that the beast has acid for blood, as well as a tendency to asphyxiate humans.

Apart from an overwhelming hunger, Kane appears to have made a full recovery, until a shocking moment around the dining table wherein another version of the alien species literaly bursts through his chest, killing him instantly. It appears that the face-hugger had planted an egg inside of the man, and that egg has now hatched. The crew have a simple task ahead of them - hunt down and destroy this being.

In the ensuing battle, many of the team members die, including Captain Dallas. This leaves Ripley in charge, and growing more curious and wary of Ash by the minute, she decides to query the Mother system to discover more information on the Science Officer's motives. It was revealed to her that Ash had been sabotaging that crew's attempts to capture or destroy the alien menace all along, and had been working to protect it from harm. No sooner had she discovered this information, Ash discovered her, and made an attempt on her life. However she was saved by Lambert and Parker, who managed to remove the android's head from it's body, discovering that he was indeed inhuman. The trio then hooked up Ash's severed head to a power line, effectively turning him back 'on', and grilled him with questions about his involvement. He revealed that Ripley had been right all along, and that Weyland-Yutani had programmed him to set the ship off course, pick up the 'distress call' (which was originally a warning), and to bring back a living sample of the alien life-form ... all to dodge customs. Ash then went on to describe the plague that the crew would unleash on Earth if they allowed this alien to return without him there to warn Weyland-Yutani of its dangers, but they knew better now than to trust the robot. They disconnected him, and after a re-grouping at the hands and words of Ellen, attempted to tackle the alien threat one last time - by stocking up on oxygen, setting the ship to self-destruct, and escaping in a shuttle. There was a chance that the oxygen would run out before they reached their destination, but the remaining crew decided to take their chances with that.

A shit-ton of respect, Ripley was and always will be the #1 bad-ass-b*tch in movie history.

The Nuul
However, they did not get very far. First Lambert and then Parker fell victim to the alien, before Ellen and Jones managed to board the shuttle. With the Nostromo exploding in the distance, Ripley breathed a sigh of relief and began to settle into her home for the near future. Unfortunately for her, the alien had managed to sneak on board her escape vehicle. Apparantly near the end of its life cycle, the being was slow to react to the discovery of Ripley, giving her enough time to formulate a plan, get into a spacesuit, and arm herself. She bravely lunged at the being with all the energy she had left in her reserves, effectively stabbing it with a metal pole. This distraction allowed her to reach for the levers and buttons that made up the shuttle's console, and open the rear hatch. Clinging to a support beam for dear life, Ripley could only shreik with rage as the alien menace flew past her, grabbing on to the woman's leg for dear life. With a final reach backwards, Ellen hit the control lever again, slamming the hatch shut and cutting off the alien from the arms downwards. Its main body was outside, imploding to death, and its arms were inside, slowly ending their bleeding. It had been the toughest 72 hours of her life, but Ripley was finally safe. She was in a shuttle headed for home, with an S.O.S. blaring for all to hear, no alien threats and only a cat for company. She re-entered hypersleep, blissfully unaware that this was where she would stay for the next 57 years.

It was only one month later that the beacon on board Narcissus, the shuttle Ripley was now calling home, failed. As a result of this, the shuttle was not found until May 16th ... 2179. Ellen and Jones had just set the record for the longest ever hypersleep. During this time, Ellen's only daughter died of cancer, great advances in the areas of space travel, hypersleep and artificial intelligence are made, rendering all ships, engines and androids that Ellen previously knew of useless and dated. After the foreign land that Ellen had 'just' escaped from, she was now greeted by a completely foreign world that she must adjust to.

Her adjustment period doesn't last for very long. On June 12th, 1979, after being taken to the spacestation Gateway, orbitting around Earth, for treatment, Ellen Ripley faces a company court, which finds her responsible for the deaths of the Nostromo crew, along with the destruction of the Nostromo itself, and formally strip her of her I.C.C. Liscence and all titles that go along with it. She is also put under a pyschological evaluation, thought to be suffering a mental breakdown and having created the 'alien' to forget whatever damage or deaths she had caused. She is forced to work menial tasks for the company aboard Gateway Station, where she is order to remain until declared mentally fit to re-enter society.

Within in a month however, news had been sent to Hadley's Hope, the colony now set up on LV-426, of the co-ordinates of this supposed derelict spaceship containing the eggs. The colonists indeed make contact with the ship, and another 'face-hugger' implants an egg in one of the colonists. Contact is lost soon after, and the company begins to listen to Ripley's supposedly 'mad' theories. A team of marines is compiled to investigate the planet and colony, and Ripley is invited along with the team to act as an advisor. She reluctantly accepts the role, only under the agreement that the alien threat is destroyed and not merely captured, hoping to finally rid herself of the horror that has gripped her life. Carter Burke, the company's spokesman to Ripley, agrees to this demand, and also gets Ripley her full I.C.C. Liscence re-instated.

The group of United States Colonial Marines, who consist of Master Sergeant (First Class) A. Apone (ID# A19/TQ4.0.32751E8) (Unit Leader), Corporal Dwayne Hicks (ID# A27/TQ4.0.48215E9) (B-Team Leader), Corporal C. Ferro (ID# A71/TQ9.0.09428E1) (Drop-Ship Pilot), Corporal C. Dietrich (ID# A41/TQ8.0.81120E2) (Mid-Tech), P.F.C. (Private (First Class)) William Hudson (ID# A08/TQ1.0.41776E3) (Com-Tech), P.F.C. Daniel Spunkmeyer (ID# A23/TQ6.0.92810E7) (Drop-Ship Crew Chief), P.F.C. Jeanette Vasquez (ID# A03/TQ7.0.15618E4) ('Smart-Gun' Operator), Private Mark Drake (ID# A23/TQ2.0.47619E7) ('Smart-Gun' Operator), Private R. Frost (ID# A17/TQ4.0.61247E5) (Trooper), Private T. Crowe (ID# A46/TQ1.0.98712E6) (Trooper), and Private T. Wierzbowski (ID# A14/TQ8.0.20034E7) (Trooper), are joined on the Sulaco by Lieutenant S. Gorman (ID# A09/TQ4.0.56124E3), Executive Officer (E.C.A.) Bishop, Carter J. Burke and Ellen Ripley. Advances in space flight technology has allowed all ship functions to be fully automated, and for this reason Bishop serves as the only crew member, acting as a supervisor for planetary maneuvering. In addition to being the only crew member, Bishop is further separateed from the group by being the only non-human being on the ship. The android is an incredibly superior artificial life form to the defective 'Ash' model that Ripley had previously encountered, and he assures her that he is programmed to be incapable of causing or allowing harm to humans. However, this does not stop Ripley from becoming further terrified by this mission, and she makes it clear that Bishop is to have no contact with her whatsoever.

So it follows that on July 27th, at approximately 0900 hours, the crew of the Sulaco landed on Acheron (the new title for 'LV-426'), and began their mission to hunt down and destroy the xenomorphs. Within the hour, the team had discovered the remains of Hadley's Hope, and only one survivor - a 6 year old girl called Rebecca 'Newt' Jorden. Ellen quickly bonds with Newt, having only recently come to terms with the death of her own '10 year old' daughter.

The Nuul
For the next five hours, the marines continue to search for survivors and aliens. They discover that the aliens have set up a nest under the atmospheric processor, the machine that keeps the colony climatised. This is where the majority of colonists have been taken and infected by 'face-hugger's. The marines go in to investigate, hoping to find some survivors and destroy the aliens. However, they are horribly outnumbered and outmatched, and it is up to Ripley to save the remaining team. She drives their Armoured Personell Carrier (APC) into the heart of the nest, picks up the remaining marines, and drives them back out. After their first encounter with the terrifying menace, the crew almost unanimously agree that destroying the whole planet is the only way to rid them of this threat.

Only Burke protests this action, but he is horribly outnumbered by Ripley, Newt, Lt. Gorman, Corporal Hicks, P.F.C. Hudson, and PFC Vasquez. They decide to take off in the dropship and launch a nuclear attack on what remains of the colony from the safety of space. Burke attempts to pull rank to get the crew to stay, and his true motivation (to capture a live sample and reap a huge financial bonus) is revealed. However, the arguement of Hicks now having the military rank to overturn any decision, and the fact that all the marines are armed to the teeth and aiming at him, changes his mind slightly.

It is all to no avail, however, as moments later an alien is discovered inside the drop-ship, killing off Ferro and Spunkmeyer. The drop-ship crashes, right on top of the A.P.C., rendering both vehicles utterly useless to the group. Dismayed, the group retreat back to the complex and meet up with Bishop. It is announced that it will take 17 days for them to be officially pronounced as missing, and while the others react in anger to this information, Ripley calmly takes control of the situation and utilises their remaining inventory to its fullest potential. She explains a plan involving welding doors and setting sentries that would block off all entrances and exits bar two.

Over the course of these, and future, events, Ripley develops some strong relationships with her remaining colleagues - she grows to develop a surrogate Mother relationship with Newt, she begins to develop personal feelings for Hicks, and most importantly she is learning to trust Bishop. In a discussion they have together, it is theorised that a single Queen is responsible for the entire nest of aliens found on Acheron. She asks the android to destroy the few specimen 'face-huggers' that the colonists had managed to capture, but he informs her that Burke had put him under strict orders to keep them alive. Ripley confronts the man and it is further revealed that he not only plans to bring the specimens back alive, but also has no intentions of informing customs of this. His motivation is pure greed, and this coupled with the realisation that he ordered the colonists to investigate the derelict ship a few days ago sends Ripley into a state of utter fury against Burke. But she has little time to vent this anger.

The aliens are attacking. Worse than that, the sentry robots have used up all their ammo. Worse than that, the atmospheric processor is due to explode in under four hours, having withstood alien tampering, marine gunfire and an exploding drop-ship. This explosion would result in a catastrophe of nuclear porpotions. Worse still, there are no remaining communication devices intact that would allow the group to remote-control the back-up drop ship. Their only hope of survival is to send someone out to the uplink tower on the other side of the complex to manually plug in a portable terminal and contact the drop-ship, a near-certain 'suicide mission' thanks to the army of xenomorphs between there and their current position. Only Bishop volunteers his services, as he acknowledges he is the only 'person' with the proper qualifications to carry out this task. As scared as he is, Bishop also acknowledges that there is no time to waste. He estimates it will be at least three hours until they are clear of the planet. As such, he sets off immediately, leaving the rest of the team to deal with the advancing aliens, depleting ammo and imminent death. Ripley takes all of this on board, and decides it is time for Hicks to arm her appropriately.

A short while later, Ripley is in a small Operating Room trying to cheer up Newt. She falls asleep in the room with the young girl, and when she awakes she notices two empty cylandirs in the room - the cylinders that used to hold the 'face-hugger's. The duo try to escape from these menaces, but find themselves locked in thanks to Burke! Through her fury, fear and confusion, Ripley gains her composure and formulates a plan. She manages to set alight some paper and holds it up to a sensor. The flames set off the fire alarm, rousing the other marines to her danger. They rush to her rescue, Hicks and Hudson disposing of the 'face-hugger's and aiming to get rid of Burke next. The creep is saved, unfortunately, by the aliens. The power is out, and the xenomorphs are behind it.

Blinky
Woah, WTF... easy on the info there...

The Nuul
The aliens attack, forcing the team to evacuate. Luckily, Bishop has reached the up-link tower unharmed. With 26 minutes to spare, Ripley and Hicks make it to the drop-ship landing pad, where they meet up with Bishop again. Along the way, Hudson, Burke, Vasquez and Gorman are killed by the aliens, and Newt is captured. Ripley informs Bishop that they are not leaving without Newt, and runs back into the complex to try to find her. She does, deep inside the aliens' nest, cocooned and incredibly frightened. Ripley hoists her up on her back and begins to escape, but soon runs into the afforementioned Queen.

Fuelled with all the anger and death that this Queen has created, Ripley lets loose a torrent of fire and explosions deep into her nest and eggs. The Mother alien is enraged, and pursues Ripley with furious vengence. She manages to outrun the beast and makes it to the landing platform, only to find that Bishop has taken off and the drop-ship is nowhere to be found. The elevator shaft behind her is whirring, signalling that the alien has managed to figure out the controls and is on her tail. She breaks down, furious at another android's betrayal, when out of nowhere the drop-ship returns, scooping up Ripley and Newt mere seconds before the complex blows up.

Safely back on Sulaco, Bishop apologises and explains that the platform was getting too unstable to stay on and that he had to take off and circle overhead. He also explains that Hicks is in a very bad way and needs urgent medical attention. Ripley, finally overcoming her fear of androids, genuinely thanks the artificial man. But all is not over yet. A shot launches out from the dark - the Queen's tail shoots straight through the android's stomach, showering Ripley with the sickly white synthetic blood within 'him'. A final insult to Ripley's relationship with the androids it would seem.

A battle ensues. Two Mothers, filled with revenge for their dead children, battle to the death. To even the disadvantage she has, Ripley dons a power loader - a machine she has become very familiar with these past few weeks. With this added weight and strength behind her, and the burning desire to protect her new-found "daughter", Ripley manages to beat the Queen alien down and knocks it over into a loading shaft, a vertical tunnel dug out of the bay. Ripley too falls in, caught in the power loader, and pins the Queen down. She crawls out of the machine and hits a release button, opening the shaft up to the bowels of space. The loader is dragged out into the abyss, the Queen follows suit, clutching to one of Ripley's trainers in a last-ditch attempt to save herself, and Newt nearly follows but is saved by the dying Bishop. Ripley shuts the hatch over and climbs back up to the bay, hugging Newt for dear life and thanking Bishop profusely.

Bishop is shut down and put into hypersleep, Hicks is treated for first aid and also put into hypersleep, and finally Ripley and Newt rest themselves in hypersleep, safe in the knowledge that the Queen has been killed, the remains of the nest seemingly destroyed on Acheron, and they are finally safe and heading back for Earth. But as recent events have shown, things are never as they seem. The Queen managed to take an egg with her aboard the drop-ship, and a few weeks later that egg hatches, impregnating Ripley in her sleep and causing a fire with its acidic blood. As a result of this fire, Sulaco decides to evacuate its remaining passengers, boarding the hibernating Bishop, Hicks, Newt and Ripley on board an Emergency Evacuation Vehicle.

This E.E.V. soon crash lands in the waters of a nearby planet, Fiorina 'Fury' 161. Ripley is found near-death on the beach. She is taken to the only building on the planet, a former maximum security prison. Ellen awakens to the sight of a strange doctor trying to administer a drug to her. Rightfully so, she is spooked, but the doctor manages to put her at ease. He explains that Ripley is the sole survivor of the crash - Bishop was damaged beyond repair, Hicks was impaled by a broken beam, and Newt drowned. Ripley is taken to see the E.E.V., against direct orders to remain in the infirmary, and discovers that Newt's death was due to some acid that spilled onto her cyrotube. Suspicious, and frightened, Ripley demands that an autopsy is carried out on Newt to determine whether she was impregnated with an alien or not. Jonathon Clemens, the afforementioned doctor, reluctantly carries out this autopsy, but is soon interrupted and reprimanded by his superior, Superintendent Andrews, for both letting Ripley out of the infirmary and also for carrying out this autopsy without permission.

The Nuul
Clemens decides to cover for Ripley, and succeeds in convincing his superior that the bodies must be cremated to prevent disease. Andrews reluctantly gives in to their wishes, but makes it clear to Ripley that he is the boss on this facility, and that she should try not to step out of line while they await her evacuation ship - she is now in the company of 25 thieves, murderers, rapists and other scum, albeit currently repenting scum.

Leonard Dillon, a previous murderer and rapist, has convinced the other prisoners to turn away from their lives of crime and to find God, preaching an apocolyptic version of the Christian faith to them. He leads the ceremonial cremation of Hicks and Newt, delivering a religious speech in the process. While this funeral is proceeding, major events are happening elsewhere in the facility. A dead ox is giving birth to a new breed of alien. Seemingly the 'face-hugger' had managed to board the E.E.V. and escaped when it landed, impregnating the ox. This new 'chest-burster' is an evolved version of the foes Ripley has taken on before - adapting the ox's strength and size.

After meeting the rest of the prisoners during their evening meal, and thanking Dillon for his kind words (only to have the thanks thrown back in her face - Dillon afraid that he will re-offend now that he is in the presence of a woman), Ripley retreats to the comfort of Clemens, first having a meal with him in private, and then seemingly engaging in sexual intercourse with him soon after. Their moment is interrupted by a message to Clemens from Andrews' right-hand man, Francis "85" Aaron, so called due to his low I.Q.. He informs Clemens that one of the prisoners has been 'diced'.

With the suspicion and fear quickly returned to her, Ripley heads out into the stormy weather of Fury 161, hoping to find the remains of Bishop among the wreckage and rubbish dumped along the complex. She succeeds in finding the broken android, and is on her way back inside when she finds herself cornered by a group of prisoners, unable to resist temptation any longer. They pin her down and begin stripping her, but ironically she is saved from her torturous rape by Dillon, the very man who feared her even being around him. He tells her to take off, and leave him to "re-educate" the men. She retreats to a medical room, and manages to get the remains of Bishop working again.

Bishop, although more than half-destroyed, manages to access the Sualco's computer logs. He discovers that there was an alien aboard the Sulaco and that it did follow them down on the E.E.V.. He then asks Ripley to disconnect him - he would rather be nothing than half a machine. Just as she does so, Dillon and some other men run into the room, clutching a frantic .... Gloic

Interesting Facts

-Although referred to as 'Lieutenant' throughout Alien3, there is no confirmation that this is Ellen's rank, nor is there any information regarding how she obtained this title.
Two possible explanations are that she was promoted as part of her role aboard the USS Sulaco (as Vasquez off-handedly refers to her as a Lieutenant). However, she is only officially known as a 'Project Advisor' or 'Consultant' in the script, and no other character refers to her as a Lieutenant. She only really begins being called a Lieutenant by Clemens, who find her name is stencilled in to her shorts. So there is both evidence for and against this arguement.
Another view is that Ripley was known as a Lieutenant either as part of her work on the USCSS Nostromo, or perhaps even before then. The reasoning being that a Lieutenant is generally a 'place-holding' rank, held by an Officer, ranking below Captain or Commander. Ripley is the third in command on the Nostromo, below Captain Dallas and Executive Officer Kane. She 'holds the fort' while Dallas and Kane investigate LV-426. However, as Ripley is only third in command and is not yet even an Executive Officer, it is unlikely that she held a more senior role prior to her assignment on the USCSS Nostromo. But, nothing has ever been confirmed about how Ellen obtained this rank, so anything is open to suggestion.

-Another big arguement in the 'Alien' history is that of the roles of Charles and Michael Bishop. What is known is that Charles Bishop Weyland is the founder of the Weyland Corporation which later becomes Weyland-Yutani. It is then thought that he met his demise around the year 2005. In 2127, it is believed that a man called Michael Bishop was born, a descendant of Charles. It is known that in 'Aliens', Ripley comes into contact with the android 'Bishop'. Finally, it is known that in 'Alien3', Ripley comes into contact with a thing claiming to be Michael Bishop.
This is where the confusion begins. 'Michael Bishop' claims to be a human being, but also claims to be acting in the interest of Ellen Ripley. It is clear from his actions later in the film that this is a lie, and so this has sparked a debate over whether his claims to being a human are also a lie. Some resources name him 'Michael Bishop' and others name him 'Bishop II' (i.e. Bishop mk 2, an android). 'Michael Bishop' also claims to be the model of the 'Bishop' android, but it is believed that the original Bishop model was in fact modelled on Charles Weyland. However, if the android was modelled on Weyland-Yutani's founder, why wasn't Ash or an earlier model designed on him instead?
When injured in 'Alien3', 'Michael' clearly bleeds a red liquid, whereas Bishop and Ash both bled white liquid. The fact that Bishop and 'Bishop II' appear within days of each other strikes out theories of advancements such as android blood with a red dye. If that was the case, why would 'Bishop II' have this upgrade and not the original Bishop?
A third explanation, and my personal belief, is that 'Michael Bishop' is a clone of Charles Weyland. This is believable in that the clone would bleed red, in that his claims of being the model of Bishop (Charles Weyland) would be true, and his claims of not being a 'droid' would also be true. Finally, if advances in technology have made androids possible, then why not clones too? Above all else, Bishop makes it clear that androids now cannot harm, or allow harm to come to, human beings. It is not certain whether 'Bishop II' was wanting to harm Ripley or not, but it appears clear that the company were willing to let Ripley die in order to save the alien life form, so it seems that 'Bishop II' would be disobeying his orders in letting this happen. Finally, it is never clear that Michael Bishop was born organically in 2127 or rather 'born' in the sense of being cloned. Plus he looks really good for a 52 year old, and certainly is the only one that I know of that can withstand a direct blow to the head.
It is something that can be debated for years, but I hope I have given you a decent insight into all three arguements being discussed at current. For the sake of this biography, I have taken 'Bishop II' to be a clone of Charles Bishop Weyland, called 'Michael'.

-In October 2115, whilst completing the "Horizons Beyond - Officers Training" program, Ripley managed to negotiate a hostage situation on board a shuttle craft called Erebus. In doing so, Riply single-handedly brought about the arrests of 8 terrorists and saved 49 lifes.

-The only sexual partners Ellen is known to have had (excluding Amanda's father) are Captain Dallas and Jonathon Clemens, but neither scene was ever shown. There is a scene which was written in to the original Alien script describing her and Dallas having intercourse in a bubble-like room on board the Nostromo, with the corpse of Kane floating past 'ruining the moment'. However, this scene was never filmed for a variety of reasons - censorship, story flow, continuity (Kane's corpse was shot out away from the ship, so how did it float backwards?), etc. Similarly, there is a scene in Alien3 where Ellen is seen lying in Clemens bed, and the two have a discussion that is riddled with innuendo, yet it is never explicitally said that they had sex.

-Amanda Ripley-McClaren died of cancer. It is not confirmed whether her name was Ripley-McClaren, Ripley-MacClaren, Ripley-McLaren or Ripley-MacLaren.

BruceSkywalker
good thread...

ripley rocked

Rogue Jedi
She had two moments where she kicked ass as a human, why does that make her badass?

Nemesis X
I will only respect the Ellen Ripley that appeared in Alien Resurrection because that Ripley is by far the most badass Ripley that ever lived.

Ripley would make an interesting character in an AVP movie.

Rogue Jedi
Indeed, she was uber in that movie.

Alpha-7
Awesome thread. Ripley is great.

She is one of few convincing and believable female bad-asses in film history. In a lot of newer films most female "bad-asses" just end up looking silly, IMO.

In Aliens, when she armed up the ass and confronts the queen, epic. Loved when she cocked her head to the side and was all like "Oh no you didnt!!!!" smile
