why was Sonic in Super smash brothers Brawl? he's not a nintendo caractor so why did they do it?

He's been in most Nintendo games plus he's Mario's rival(or was now that he's reduce to needing his rival's help to save his ass)

It's the same reason why Spawn, Link and Darth Vadar were in the Soul Caliber games.

anyways.. nintendo / Hal labs / Sora Ltd, had recieved fanservice requests to have those guest characters in the game.. thats why they're there
