So, I was considering starting a Samurai film focus for this upcoming week. I've seen "Yojimbo" and "Zatiochi" fairly recently. Tonight, I rented "Sword of Doom", and was considering "The Hidden Fortress" soon there after.

Any other suggestions?

The best movie ever is Seven Samurai. Throne of blood by the same director is also pretty good. I've heard good things about "The Baby Cart Series" (movies about Lone Wolf and Cub.) Which Zatoichi did you see, the classics or the recent one?

MildPossession
Sword of the Beast
Throne of Blood(but I'm sure you have seen this one though, saw you mention it I think.)
Kill!
Kagemusha - just check out all Kurosawa's films, Hidden Fortess is one to rent also
The Twilight Samurai
Harakiri

Those are a few I enjoy.

Beat Takeshi's "Zatiochi", I don't remember any of the on going Zatiochi film series VHS being available at Hollywood.

Eraserhead
I love Sword of Doom, but everybody I show it to hates the ending. It's an incomplete trilogy, so beware. As mentioned, all Kurosawa samurai films are essential.

Here's a few that I'd recommend:

Samurai Rebellion
Samurai 1: Musashi Miyamoto
Samurai Spy
Sword of the Beast
Samurai 2: Duel at Ichijoji Temple
Samurai 3: Duel at Ganryu Island

Aragami was good too.........
