Welcome to the Punisher capability thread. Punisher doesn’t get enough respect, people tend to think hes just good at taking out gangsters but that’s pretty much it, hes much more and this thread will illustrate that. Thanks goes to StiltmanFTW, SuperiorTech and Thorion (even though you probably don’t know you helped. I think those DD scans are yours). A little warning though, this thread has no strength feats not because Punisher is weak he just hasn’t shown to have a lot of strength feats, its just not his thing. However he is still a formidable opponent and this thread will make that clear.

Punisher dodges the vigilante Mortalis from point-blank range. This guy was no random thug and he was one of the best DEA field agents and had trained himself to be even better.

I like this one Punisher plays chicken with a maniac on a motorbike with a chainsaw. Punisher manages to hit him in the chest with a metal pole and snatch the baby off his motorbike without harming himself or the baby.

Punisher beats Bushwacker to the draw. Bushwacker has shoot Wolverine enough times that he had to run for cover. Bushwacker has also shot Daredevil and he almost killed Daredevil after coming out of hospital, Bushwacker still had bandages on him.

Punisher is also an expert in toxicology. In this issue he creates an antidote for a poison. The villainess who made the poison had a degree in pharmacology and had learnt to create poison from a ninja grandmaster. Punisher did this despite not actually obtaining the poison to study.

Both Wolverine and Punisher are tracking this guy but Punisher finds him first (ie the guy is running away from Punisher and runs into Wolverine). Not saying Punisher is a better tracker but its impressive that they are both in a jungle and Punisher managed to find the guy first at all.

VI. DAMAGE SOAK/TOUGHNESS


This is a pretty good damage soak showing from Punisher. He gets electrocuted more than a several times, gets shot in the head with a rubber bullet. Wakes up gets electrocuted again….well you see the rest.

Its not over yet…Punisher then has to fight this guy. Lets face it theres no proof that hes a top tier martial artist but he was trained by Jigsaw to be the new Punisher. He at the very least would be a healthy athletic human. Considering the condition Punisher was in its still a very good showing.

Im not sure if this a skyscraper or a very tall building, but Punisher falls from it and survives. The only thing that saves him is that his fall was broken, he was wearing kevlar and he fell on some rubbish. Not that much when you see how high up he was (more than 67 stories).

Everbody knows that Punisher fought Daken and lost, but this was the condition he was in before they fought. He had bleeding bandaged wounds and had a broken leg.

Punisher resists a toxin that is supposed to keep him paralyzed for 24 hours, he starts moving in several and manages to get to his antidote.

Punisher shows good stamina, speed and durability in this showing. Punisher ends up with broken ribs and at least severe concussion but he still manages to run down a trained assassin who has a big head start. Later we see some impressive speed and durability (evading gunfire and landing on car from several stories).

Punisher actually does have a healing factor. Its not a healing factor like Wolverine where it can heal in mid-battle but he can heal relatively fast over long periods of time, much like Captain America.

Jigsaw and his men kicked the crap out of Punisher and cut up his face. Punisher was also on a morphine drip and prior to this showing he said he could barely stand. He still manages to take on two guys and almost escape without getting shot. After this he still manages to muster enough strength to knock a thug on his back with one punch.

Its been stated that the Hand were not aiming to kill but to kill him slowly. It was also stated that Punisher was not at the top of his game. Its been suggested that this meant that he was not prepared. This is nonsense because Punisher stated before that he knew they were following him all day and had a good idea who they were. Punisher has stated that he preps for people he might fight so he’s not going to suspect it’s the Hand and not be prepared. The most likely conclusion is that “off his game” meant he was rusty overall which would include everything including h2h skills. Punisher has also met the Hand before and had not trouble dealing with them so this is the most likely conclusion.

Punisher states that he doesn’t stand a chance but that doesn’t mean a god damn thing because he beats DD later on in the series. I’ll post that later to illustrate a point.

Lets take a look at the DD vs Punisher series. A lot of people use these fights as proof that DD kicks Punisher’s butt in a fight but that’s flawed logic. Heres the first fight in that series. DD dances around Punisher but the fight ends with DD getting rocked by a punch from Punisher.

Note what Punisher says “It doesn’t matter. I can take it.” In other words Punisher is getting punched by DD but hes soaking up the damage. Theres no use in using this as proof that DD beats Punisher when Punisher has stated that he can take the damage that DD is dishing out. Also bare in mind Punishers one punch was more effective than all of DDs attacks. The point being made is that if Punisher fights DD hes going to get hit more times but that does not necessarily mean that DD will win the fight in the end because Punisher can turn it around due to his toughness.

Heres the second fight in this series. Again Punisher gets hit more times but the fight gets interrupted so we can’t assume that DD would have won.

The lesson is unless he’s KTFO its not a forgone conclusion he’s going to lose and can turn it around. Also look at his fight with Kraven The Hunter the same thing happened there.

Now heres the last fight in the DD vs. Pun series. This fight is not interrupted and is the longest fight. Notice how yet again Punisher is getting beaten up at the beginning of the fight but because this fight lasts longer he manages to almost turn it around and win the fight.

Punisher’s capability can vary significantly depending on whos writing him and Remender/Fractions Punisher is significantly tougher. If DD has a hell of a time beating regular Punisher a better Punisher would beat him.

Punisher said that he couldn’t hang with him but was this due to the fact that on two occasions the thai-boxer took advantage of Punisher shooting at other targets (one example is the lights, an other example is where he was shooting at a soldier then got jumped)? If it were not for these circumstances Punisher may have had an easier fight.

Damn good showing from Frank vs a guy that goes H2H with Thor. Frank loses in the end but shows he can use his weapons against powerful characters and shows some agility as well.

After the assassination attempt Doom trys to hunt him down but fails to do so. We can clearly see from Doom says that it was not just a simple matter of just looking for him but used actual tactics and was even factoring in possibilities and stats to find him.

Thanks it took alot of hard work to make this thread. Well theres feats from Dark Reign but no Frankencastle because to an extent that would be missing the point of the thread. The whole idea was to show how badass human Punisher is...or was.

can you post the entire Frank/Daken fight. even if he loses to Daken it's a good showing given the advantages Daken has over Frank...i.e mutant vs old man.

I also thought that might have been too spoilerish. IMO that issue is one of the most serious Punisher stories written. I think people should have to read it for themselves. Yes I was thinking of showing how Punisher was smart enough to get The Hood to back off (maybe not the exact feat you had in mind).

great thread. but I really suggest moving these scans from the thread and leaving the kraven one with zero explanation of what happen before. Because theses scans are not going to go over well and will certainly be used against you if/when you bring the kraven example up as evidence in a versus thread. Thats my advice to you, but do as you wish.

Theres more that happened before the Kraven fight than Tiger Shark. No people don't seem to have a problem about it and I gave a decent explanation as to why its ok.

Frank blindfolded dodges a charging bull. I had to merge two panels together because the file was just too big for the entire scan. basically Frank dodges the first charge while blindfolded and the second time around, some hillbilly tells him to watch out from the back. That said, it doesn't take away the fact that while blindfolded Frank was able to not only evade the bull but also cut the ropes around his wrists with the bull's horns.

....and then, he rips off a plank and smashes it against the bull's head. KILLING it

one of the biggest misconceptions is that Frank is just a brawler. Frank's h2h skills remains one of the MOST underrated on these forums. Here is a brief scuffle between Frank and US AGENT (someone who's more than held his own against Captain America himself)

sorry, i only remember it vaguely. only thing on my mind right now is Punisher: in the blood!

Now, when it comes to Bullseye, lotta people here seem to think that Frank has no chance against this cat. Which is funny really, because about the ONLY time Bullseye ever had Frank at his mercy was in the ending of the ultra-PIS induced Bullseye vs Punisher oneshot.
I won't get into why that was such complete load of shit but the following are Frank's various encounters with Bullseye.

the very first encounter during Countdown. Notice how Bullseye has a super-powered tech suit, complete with bulletproof armor and stateoftheart weaponry...and had the drop on Frankie.

and the shooting starts (notice who gets the first shot off btw)

Frank showing some great agility and reflexes as he evades gunfire from someone who *cough* never misses *cough*

Not only does Frank evade all the gunfire but he gets the drop on Bullseye and manages to overpower him briefly despite the suit. Note: at this point he was out of bullets, otherwise he'd have blown his brains out already. same applies for the initial draw between at the start of the fight. That's TWO for Frank.

Pummels Bullseye before getting swatted away because of his overpowered suit. Not fair

It's also interesting to note that at this point Frank was not himself. AT ALL.

anyway, point remains that Frank (if he was pummeling him with the butt of the guns) could've just as easily shot his head off. and would've too.

Frank's second encounter with Bullseye. Another instant where Bullseye gets to walk away (relatively) unscathed because Frank wasn't himself at the time. To be fair though, Bullseye says he let Frank make it so far because he wanted to be sure. So let's give it to him. That's still 2-1, and that's all three times that Bullseye had the drop on Frank.

And it's on
notice how Frank knows how to get under Bullseye's skin and can play all sorts of dirty games if he wants to...as he's shown time and again by pwning DareDevil himself on more than one occassion. I find it funny that cats think Frank can't beat Bullseye and yet Frank has gone toe-to-toe with the man who makes him into his weekly personal ***** (Matt) and even beaten him.

Gives as good as he takes, this boy

and finally...........THWOK! one punch knock down!

and in THIRD consecutive time, The Punisher could've ended this schmuk's life if he wanted to....just that he wasn't himself at the time. Call it CIS or PIS, but that's about all that saved Bullseye from being dead.

so he does the next best thing: cripples the so-called greatest assassin in Marvel Universe

Damn, I've been looking for the Countdown Pun vs Bullseye fight. Careful though the second fight by Punisher vs Bullseye has already been posted.

Oh, btw, CANONICALLY, this is the first time Bullseye met Frank.
two things to know here:
1) this is from Bullseye's point of view and he even later comments that he made most of the stuff up
2) like always, he got the drop on Frank

And finally, their latest mix-up in Bullseye VS Punisher oneshot. I'll just post the h2h fight they had because other than that, the whole oneshot is either Bullseye getting the drop on Frank or Frank turning to goo before Bullseye's massive jobberaura.

anyway, prior to this scene, Bullseye just fired an RPG at the building Frank was in and Frank's finally about to get his paws on him. Lets go!

For those who think Frank's got nothing on Bullseye in h2h....notice how quickly he's got him on the floor...even though Frank not only went through an RPG blast but just got stabbed in his dominant arm.

and lo and behold, not only is Bullseye down and out for a while but Frank could've shot him if he wanted to....only he's run out of ammo. That's the FOURTH time Frank could've killed Bullseye under normal circumstances.

now they go full h2h....again Frank isn't 100% at all (stabbed, explosion) and he still gets his shots in with the arm that was stabbed

Bullseye gets the upperha...........oh, wait, he's getting busted up. again. as usual

not only was he 100% but even while prepared for an unarmed Frank (he had a knife which he used), he still gets plastered all over the pavement. Not only that, but as always he's at the utter and complete mercy of Frank because:
1) Frank had in a necklock
2) Bullseye was CLEARLY fading out
3) a little boy had to literally save Bullseye's ass from being killed
4) Bullseye RAN AWAY (again). why would he run away if he was winning or even had a chance of winning?

yep, Frank wins this one easily....and proves yet again why he can boogie with the h2h big boys all day

According to Rick Remender, currently writing Punisher: in the blood, Frank's back to being 30 years old again and is thus more dangerous than ever. that's right, Frank's no longer an old man
