Denzel Washington as Eli.
Who'd have thunk that Denzel could get physical?
I mean, real physical.
He plays Eli, a drifter heading west since 'The Flash' some three decades earlier. He is also carrying precious cargo, which happens to be the last remaining Bible, since all the others had been destroyed.
Carnegie (played by Gary Oldman) wants the holy book, seeing as how it will cement his hold over the townspeople. But Eli isn't going to hand it over without a fight.
Too bad that once Carnegie gets his hands on the Bible, he can't read it, since the blasted thing is in Braille.
That's right. Eli was blind. Has been since 'The Flash.' And he has some nasty self-defense techniques that would put Daredevil to shame.
Eli is pretty gangsta.
