It is claimed that Tim Hunter has the potential to surpass all of DC's strongest human magic users.
But I don't think he has demonstrated feats to back that up.

Mordru has more and better feats. He wins.
(ie. Battle with SHAZAM)

Mordru.

Tm has yet to meet his peak. If he does so, he'd pass Mordru.

Even at his peak, he will never be THE strongest magic user in DC.
Only amongst the human-based ones, he will be.

I don't think he will ever surpass The Spectre or The Phantom Stranger.

Galan007
In one of the books of magic, a possible future was shown in which Spectre can be seen as one of the magic users who "fought and fell" against a rogue Tim. So I think the potential is there... Whether he will actually reach it is another matter entirely.

Incredible.

That future Tim would mean he wields a significant amount of The Presence's 'omnipotence', or some artifact of its nature, being able to defeat God's Vengeance and all that.

Galan007
^ Spectre is a magical being. For Tim to beat him he would just have to be channeling greater amounts of magic. The Presence has nothing to do with that, really.

Cubey
Kind of like how Marvel was bringing him the pain in Day of Vengeance, right?

Galan007
^ Marvel was channeling so much magical energy during that battle that the mere shockwaves from his punches caused devastation throughout "a wide spectrum of magical dimensions." The dude was packing some serious heat there.

Q99
Likewise, Hal-Parallax in Zero Hour temporarily dispersed him.

So all you really need to beat the Spectre is an insane amount of power.

Unless the Presence is backing him up personally.

Anyway I'm planning to start reading Books of Magic soon.

I'm trying to get through all of the Vertigo stuff that has ties to the main DCU. I've already read Sandman, Lucifer, Swamp Thing, Hellblazer, The Demon (I know it's not Vertigo but it features Vertigo characters and references Vertigo events). I'm reading Books of Magic next, then the Spectre series (again, not Vertigo, but references Vertigo characters and events)
