Rank these performances.
- Ledger's Joker
- Javier Bardem as Anton Chigurh
- Hopkin's Lector
- Christoph Waltz as Hans Landa

§P0oONY
Lector was never really the villain... More of an anti-hero.

I've yet to see No Country for Old Men so I don't know about Chigruh... out of the Joker and Hans Landa I think Waltz made the better performance. (I realise that this is an unpopular decision because he's still alive... people seem to lose perspectives in regards to the dead)

Rogue Jedi
Joker.

Kaibs
- Javier Bardem as Anton Chigurh

He was so ****ing twisted, it was great though. Heath did amazing as well, but Chigurh is in a league of his own.

K.Diddy
beer I have also not got around to seeing ''No country for old men'' but out of the rest,I would have to say Ledgers Joker and Hans Landa a close second,Anthony Hopkins was superb in his performance on ''Silence of the Lambs'' but I feel he gave a bit of a weaker one in ''Hannibal''

Aede Madavan
Lector
Joker
Hans Landa
Anton Chigurh

In that order.

ADarksideJedi
Hopkin's Lector the only one that can play Joker the right away will always be Jack N in the batman movie

MildPossession
Ledger played him wonderfully.

A crucial omission to the list :

Daniel Day-Lewis as Bill the Butcher

-Pr-
Prefer Nicholson to Ledger, but Ledger was excellent.

Lector is the best on the list imo...

Bouboumaster
Lector in SOTL was crazt, a over-the-top performance. He's the best.
All three other were also superb, and I'd add Jack Nicholson also with them.

jinXed by JaNx
bill the butcher

SnakeEyes
All of these performances are completely different; all great.

If Nicholson's Joker were added, that'd be the weak link for sure.

Nicholson should be on the list instead of Lector

Lecter
Chigurh
Joker
Landa.

Myth
Joker closely followed by Landa for me.

Dr Will Hatch
I don't get what was so great about Landa. He was charismatic and fun to watch, but the same can be said about a lot of performances. Maybe I should watch the film again, but if I didn't catch the hype the first time, I probably will never get it,

Ledger, I guess is my pick. But he was intimidating just as much because of the excellent writing as because of his performance.

Never seen "No Country", so I can't say about Chigurh.

I think that Gordon Gekko from "Wall Street" is one of the best movie villains of all time, and that's not some kind of political statement. He's competely amoral, competely convinced that it's OK and even "good" to squash people under him, and he makes no bones about ruining people's lives for his own benifit. And the worst part is that there are a lot of people like him in real life.

I found Jack quite cheesy compared.

Lord Shadow Z
Anton Chigurh narrowly over Lector and I haven't seen the other two...

Chigurh was a really creepy character, could be incredibly manic and frenzied but also calm and considered... and just plain weird too. Also providing Lector wasn't peckish or you weren't about to turn him in he might just leave you be but Chigurh would probably kill you without blinking.

The latest legendary villainous performance was the late Heath Ledger's, contender to become another villainous legend in hollywood.

You're a member of a *film* forum and you haven't seen The Dark Knight or Inglourious Basterds?!

What the hell are you waiting for?

I have no desire to see either and like you've indicated KMC is much more than a film forum.

I see films I want to see and not just films some people seem to carry around like a badge of honour.

Darth Martin
The Dark Knight and Inglourious Basterds are both modern masterpieces.

TDK was the best film of 2008, as was IB of 2009. Highly recommend you view them. I slept on IB and didn't catch it in the cinema as I should have, caught it on dvd as a rental. Totally worth it.

Originally I was going to watch The Dark Knight but not at the cinema as I didn't want the experience to ruin my perceptions of the film. I was going to wait and watch it on DVD but I just grew disinterested about it. What I'm saying is I shouldn't 'have' to watch it as the other poster suggested.

I just don't get how some people are touchy with posters who haven't seen/or like The Dark Knight. Its like a cult or something...

As for IB I've never been in interested in Tarantino stuff after Pulp Fiction.

Darth Martin
I'm not going to hate or dislike you if you choose not to view The Dark Knight. You are missing out though. It's neck-and-neck with Watchmen: Director's Cut as the best superhero film ever.

Inglorious Basterds>Pulp Fiction. Pulp Fiction outside of SLJ just isn't as great as everyone like to make it out to be.

Who did he play in the batman movie?

Dreampanther
Ledger spoiled The Dark Knight for me - of the lot, I'd say Hopkins' Lecter is my favourite, but he is definitely more of an anti-hero...

MildPossession
I'd like to hear why he spoilt the film for you?

rimmy8788
These are my favorite ones in case of villain performance:-
Hopkin's Lector
Christoph Waltz as Hans Landa

Placidity
Gary Oldman - Dracula
