Ushgarak
Yeah, the games have been dragging on.

This is because I have been playing them at 'maximum extension'- I did the Jedi ambush on Thalos about as fully as it is possible to do it, and forced the Dark Siders to not move on until they had worked out a proper bloody attack plan; I gave few clues.

As ever, this is because I can't afford to move on quickly. Shifts in available players have nixed offline play and at full pelt we'll outrun it again.

Still, I want to keep enthusiasm alive and so, earlier than planned, here are some early previews for what is coming next year...

(Titles are subject to alteration!)

-----

THE LOST TRAIL

Roan and Xeth have both been shaken by the news that not only Kuylen but at least one of his major followers- Galder- are still alive and active. At first, this might have seem a distraction to their important task- to identify the true nature of the thread posed by the mysterious Lady Adelmo.

But thanks to their earlier efforts, an unexpected break has come. It turns out the two cases are very much related- and always were.

To uncover the truth about Adelmo, they'll have to look into her activities in the Republic years before anyone was dreaming of a woman with white hair. But there's only one group that knew anything about her- Kuylen's, and where the group needs to look, nothing is known.

In the years between Kuylen's faked death at the jaws of a rancor and his reappearance in the Damagran Confederacy there is a great void of information. The Jedi have peiced together the harder parts of his organisation; the likes of Chion and Galder; his alliance with Pelloran and Faylar and his subjugation of the warrior culture of Belseraphon. But there was a whole other side to what he did; the side that found all the secrets he needed to operate. No-one knows what he was doing and who he was associating with.

Working almost virtually in the dark from the worst of all possible sources of information, the Jedi must now uncover the secrets of Kuylen's past.

-----

GAMBIT

The Republic, the Jedi, the Damagran Confederacy, Pelloran, the Malastare authorities, the Zeitonians, the Bureau, the Golden Serpent, several large pirate clans, the Treganna Void...

Many are the organisations that want the Dark Siders captured and/or killed- and that's before we get onto the worsening internal group tensions and the recent 'incident' which possibly adds Lady Adelmo onto the list as well.

Well, that's all part of life for the Dark Siders. by now, they are getting pretty used to the idea that wherever they go, it is likely that hordes of robots, bounty hunters, warrior-monks, police, assassins, mercenaries and the odd robotic mercenary assassin hunter pirate ninja-monk is going to try and track them down and take them out. "The Dark Siders were here" is virtually synonymous with "this place burnt down after a huge battle."

It's wearying, even for the more battle hungry of the Dark Siders- but it's part of the price for their freedom. The freedom to piss off whoever the hell they like is one of their fundamentals. They are free to send whoever they like after the Darkies; that's the rules of the game.

But THIS. This is too much. This time... someone is trying to kill them. Someone with great influence and power, and able to command resources that are very much capable of actually carrying out the threat. The Dark Siders need to stop this at the source or they really are going to be dead this time.

That's not what is too far. What is too far... is that they have never even met the guy. That's over the line. Beyond the pale. A bridge too far. It's one thing to have a huge list of enemies you have made via your own activities; something almost to be proud of. But if total strangers that you have never done a thing to start getting in on the act... no no no. This must not stand!

The Dark Siders, united as nothing else can unite them by the threat of shared destruction, decide to go and pay their new enemy a friendly visit and inquire politely quite why he wants them all dead. Obviously, their interpretation of 'inquire politely' will be "lightsabre to the sensitive parts before he tells us why in return for which we'll finish it quickly."

But it's not going to be that simple. This person is deep in the Republic. He has no trouble getting to them, so the Dark Siders have no choice but to go to him.

It's been years since the Dark Siders went into the Republic proper. It's no longer safe. The eyes and ears of the Bureau are everywhere. The slightest, tiniest display of either lightsabres or force powers will bring the Osokans in droves.

It's the worst possible situation... the Dark Siders... might actually have to... you know... talk and think their way through this one?

Oh the horror!

Oh, and it's at a giant casino so... you know. Whilst you are there...

Bardock42
Oh intriguing, another somewhat lightsabreless situation?

Peach
...oh god, what did we do to piss off Adelmo?

Also, I am pretty much crying laughing at our preview. I love us...

General Kaliero
Oh god. We're so ****ed.

This game will be incredible.

Ushgarak
Only somewhat indeed; you will actually have the sabres.

Of course, if one of you loses his/her temper...

Peach
We're in a casino, I'm sure some among the group will be taking bets as to who does so first.

General Kaliero
Rand and/or Gallador will be trying to cheat the machines and reading the dealers...

Bardock42
Maybe I'll take gambling if I may next upgrade. Wanted to get that sometime anyways and it might come in handy in a casino.

Peach
Beware of anyone offering a sandwich.

(Yes, Ush, I still remember those stories)

General Kaliero
Moral: When in doubt, just eat the damn sandwich.

Peach
...this now brings up a very important question.

Do sandwiches exist in Star Wars?

General Kaliero
According to Wookieepedia, yes.

Craft
Oh snaps! I really like what I just read, hunting down stuff that ties into the original Campaign. I am looking forward to this!

Ushgarak
Oh, who cares about the silly Jedi and their main plotline. Dark Siders in a casino! The network expects high viewing figures.

This. Since when have the Jedi been any fun to watch?

Disregarding comedy episodes where they can't figure out they're being attacked by Force users...

Bardock42
That's television for you.

Though the Light Siders plot seems really interesting, I'd like to learn more about Kuylen!!!

Gambling's fine too though.

Well, I mean, it's Dark Siders. Pretty much anything we do is going to be awesome. We're just far more entertaining in general happy

*snirk*

Yes, there was that, at least.

Craft
stick out tongue Well I look forward to the Darkies getting greedy, trying to 'force' their way into winning gambling games and getting screwed for it.

Ushgarak
It's a very serious Jedi story- an exploration of the activities of the Dark Side. Shades of Purity in that respect.

Craft
And possibilities to go mad as they realize just how bad the Dark Side can really get... or something.

Though I have noticed the Jedi stories can get pretty damn dark, like Battlefield and Purity, more so Purity then Battlefield, but I think it had it's dark moments too. Hell the concept of a whole planet being forcibly taken over and turned into a big droid factory/testing ground was pretty brutal.

I am actually quite interested in seeing what info they can manage to unearth...

Newjak
We are all gonna die...

That is all.

Although we could make a lot of money out of this if we play it right.

Perhaps an Ocean's 11 type deal where we rob it. big grin

laughing out loud

I, for one, am thrilled about the Jedi plotline. My backstory that Rexx is running may not be finished by then, so would I still be able to join the main game?

Peach
Don't see why you wouldn't be able to, just about everyone else in one of Rex's games is also playing the main game as well stick out tongue

REXXXX
Oh yeah, no need to fret about that, Digi.

I'm already envisioning different Darkies posing as cardsharks and card-counters and heavy gamblers.

Brit
Yay! big grin

Lord Melkor
Sounds interesting, though there is also our search for Syphar N`Kalar and building a power base I am interested in....

By the way Ush, earlier visions of Gallador and Rand indicated that there will be two paths for us to choose, with Rand possibly being able to become the third. I thought these are Kuylen and Adelmo, but you recently commented that Kuylen does not want us and now that Adelmo will become an enemy. Was this plot changed?

Ushgarak
Well, the path on the Dark Side is never easy, is it?

XanatosForever
Ooh, at last a hint of the opportunity I was waiting for. I expect these games to be different beasts when more than one is involved, and I'm stoked to see just how different it will be. smile

Ushgarak
Incidentally, there IS a join point for Light Siders in the current story, though right near the end. Just a heads up to anyone interested.

fdog

What do I need to do to acclimate myself to the, er, joining? I've met Xeth and Vera previously, at least.

Ushgarak
Working for Xeth is all you need.

Rio Rio
Cool I can't wait to jump in if that's okay.

Edna Witch
Ooh exciting! A talky thinky plotline - my forte!

Lord Melkor
Uhmm Ush, this person trying to kill us... Kir Ascar perhaps?

Craft
Nah, can't be Ascar. No motive and no resources to be a threat to the Dark Siders so far out.

My money is on Dooku.

REXXXX
I didn't think of that, seems feasible...

Jedireaper
Sign me up for it.

Bespin Bart
I'm excited for this story line. I feel like we really don't know enough about Kuylen. And it'll be nice getting back into the meat of the first Campaign too, since Xeth's conspiracy theories are off for the time being.

REXXXX
I really must stress that SOME of the Dark Siders must get Gambling with their xp.

Peach
Are you hinting at something here?

stick out tongue

REXXXX
Yes. We should gamble!

Bardock42

Con is planning on doing so.

REXXXX
Just dump all your xp in it and become the gambling fiend.

Will do...no wait, I won't. I'll put 1 or 2 in. Con ain't a specialist, and he's not gonna start now!!!!

REXXXX
I think that'd be 8 points?

Bardock42

Yeah, I mean I'm going to get 1 or 2 points in it, which would indeed be 8 xp points.

REXXXX
Any idea what else you want to get for Con? I'm always curious to see how players want their characters to progress.

Increase Force Rating for Gallador.

Ushgarak
There are going to be other stories like Datura, so if you don't make up for deficiencies there you are going to get killed one day.

REXXXX
I'm going to start rounding out Galder, been thinking about how for awhile.

Lord Melkor

This is directed to me, I understand?

Well, I want to specialize in Force and social powers, there are others that are much better fighters.

Ushgarak
But they won't always be next to you. You do have to encounter these situations regardless of skillset.

If not them, then maybe some allies or minions?

Sorry, but character creation allows for creating character with no skills in combat and guns, only saber. This means that it is not an absolute requirement.

Peach
And yet there can still be situations where combat or guns are needed stick out tongue

I'm going to keep up rounding out Rianna's abilities a bit more, myself, I think.

You don't even have offensive force powers.

I am the GM and I am telling you doing that will get you killed.

Craft
Hell I wanted Wentar to be a super social character, but after Battlefield I realized I needed some way to last better in combat, thus the purchase of a second guard.

Next up is increasing my perception, because I feel 3 on a mental stat is just too low. After that... I'm torn in a three way tie between more socialness, more Pilot tricks or some more force powers.

General Zink
I have not contemplated what I want to spend my xp on. I am very glad I bought Dodge & Weave and there's merit to making Rand able to fight unarmed.
