From what i've read of the first arc its good but its the art that lets it down

and i'll stick to buying it from the shop not a big fan of reading comics on the computer.

why do troopers from nearly every era have to look like storm troopers and nearly all space fighters look like x-wings?

Marketing, the game will be the rival of WOW so they want this too look as familiar as possible.

Yep. They want to appease fans who want to plan stormtroopers and fly X-Wings who may or may not be too casual to be considered Star Wars fans.
