Project Cronus


The year is 2093, A.D. For years, now, the government has been taking in individuals they deem as "high risk" for experimentation dealing with biogenetically re-engineering their DNA structures to create the ultimate super-soldiers. Within the last three years, the results have proven, to say the least, promising. Further testing to see what the subjects' thresholds for their powers and the usage therein began under the code name "Project Cronus," referring to the Greek Titan of legend, Cronus being chosen as it brought forth the birth of ten unique individuals, their old selves forgotten, who would be named for the Twelve Olympians, in reference to the powers they now had. Testing was inhumane, cruel in the sense that they would on a daily basis be pushed to the brink of death in the "danger room" sequences suited to their individual strengths and weaknesses. But what the government didn't take into account was the rest of the myth. In Greek legend, the Olympians eventually overthrew Cronus, taking it upon themselves to forge a new destiny. Thus would be the fate of these subjects. The twelve have escaped the facility, and now live on a day to day basis, constantly on the run, as their tormentors make it a daily point to track them down... Dead or alive.

General premise of the RP revolves around the twelve main characters:
Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Athena, Hades, Apollo, Artemis, Ares, Aphrodite, Hephaestus and Hermes.

Each will have a specific power based on the "gods" they represent, and for the sake of argument, I'll list those in a bit.

You're on the run, so drawing a lot of attention is not something you would want to do. You want to blend with society, to the best of your ability. Of course, that's not to say that occasionally, the agents after you will not find and engage you. Epic battles are to be expected in this RP, considering the powers and whatnot, and the fact that they will be the twelve's ONLY SAVING GRACE in a fight. No use of guns, etc by the twelve. They have powers for a reason. Use them.

I will, of course, be expecting some people to play as the government's lapdogs sent to chase the twelve down, and I do find it to be an entertaining notion that perhaps some of these agents will have powers of their own. I will not shoot that down, should you decide to make it so, just don't be too ridiculous. (i.e. Invulnerability)

PROJECT CRONUS
Zeus - Electrokinesis. He controls electric charges, EMP blasts, lightning.

Hera - Enhanced strength. Hera was known for her temper, so I think this project will logically be the berserker, no?

Poseidon - Hydro/Cryo Kinesis. Basically, he controls water and ice, bending them to his will.

Demeter - Biokinesis. As the goddess, Demeter, was most attuned with nature, I have opted that basically, she can alter her genetic coding to resemble another person or an animal at will. Shapeshifting, in short.

Athena - Telekinesis. Moving things with her mind is the best I can do with Athena. As the goddess of war (her brother, Ares, being the god over it) I didn't have much to work with here. Sue me.

Hades - Nightmarish Visions. Hades has the ability to force upon enemies the worst memories, or nightmares, as it may be, they have/can imagine. This spawning from the inspiration being Lord of the Underworld. (NOTE: I am well aware Hades was NOT considered one of the Olympians as he spent most of his time in the Underworld, but to Hell with it, I'm not using Dionysus.)

Apollo - Photokinesis. Apollo was known for riding his chariot across the skies, bringing forth the sun every morning, or the moon at night. As such, I have chosen to give him the powers of light manipulation, allowing him to use light particles around him to go from as little as lighting a dark alley to as much as a blinding flash that will stun nearby enemies.

Artemis - Bloodlust. Artemis was goddess of the hunt. Bloodlust is simple enough: The more she kills, the more she wants to continue the primal desire to destroy. So far, the only one known to bring her out of this is Hades, for reasons unknown.

Ares - Matter Manipulation. Everything this man touches becomes a weapon, so long as the length and weight do not increase. Example: He picks up a 17" lead pipe, and wants to change it into a sword of some kind? He can make a 17" (or shorter) sword from it by expending a bit of his aura into the pipe.

Aphrodite - Seduction arts. Aphrodite, a goddess in and of her own caliber. In mythology, she was known for her beauty, thusly giving me the incentive to say Seduction is perfect, no? Think of it as her own way of brainwashing enemy soldiers into doing whatever she wants, be it attacking their own, or simply leaving the scene altogether. (NOTE: For the love of god, don't misuse this and tell someone else's character to kill themself. It will be overridden, and they will continue to live, unless the player deems that they are okay with their character dying, i.e. a public statement in the OOC thread.)

Hephaestus - Pyrokinesis. Already used weapons creation for Ares, so to Hell with it, Hephaestus can control fire with his mind.

Hermes - Enhanced Speed. Hermes was known for being Messenger of the Gods, thus deeming the power of enhanced speed some thought, here. Think like the Flash in DC Comics.

Of course, if anyone is interested, please do feel free to let me know, and if anything needs any more explanation, I will be more than happy to answer PM's or to post more info here.

Bio: Born and raised in the heart of the city, his parents were killed in the inner-city riots when he was young. He then spent a year or two raising himself on the streets before he was picked up by a government official named "Diaz" and brought to the labs. He's been there ever since, his memories before the facility completely wiped from his mind. He only considers one of the others a friend, Artemis, who tried to keep him in line during the countless years of testing. Now, all he knows is that survival is rule number one on the outside, and those who cross paths with him will find themselves regretting it shortly thereafter.

Age: 21 to 23 (has lost count)
Powers: Blood lust: Basically increases her speed, agility, and critical hits.

Bio: Her father worked for the government as a spy and her mom a house wife. A few months Artemis's 2 birthday an anonymous tip was given that he was a spy and shortly after he went "missing." Her mother was grief stricken and eventually turned to drugs. Artemis was removed from he mother around age 3 by the government and went almost straight into Project Chronus. Depsite being in the Chronus lad most her life she is still some how optimistic and keeps a smile on her face. It is said that she was the closest they had got to achieving their goal of the ultimate soldier.

Age: 37
Powers: She can turn anyone and anything to stone with a single touch. And, if you were to look into her eyes then you would find yourself paralyzed. This leaves her oponents frozen and free to touch.

"The Medusa was the daughter of Phorkys and Keto, the children of Gaia (Earth) and Okeanos (Ocean). She was one of the three sisters known as the Gorgons. The other two sisters were Sthenno and Euryale. Medusa was the only mortal out of the three. She was once very beautiful and lived far in the north were the sun didn't visit. Being very curious, she wanted to see the sun, and asked the Goddess Athena for permission to visit the south. Athena refused to allow her to visit. The medusa got angry and dared to say that Athena hadn't given her permission because she was jealous of her beauty. that was it! Athena was angered and punished her by turning her hair into snakes and cursing her by making her so ugly that who ever lookes at her eyes would turn into stone."

Medusa hd a disease ever since she was born. Her disease was in her mind. She knew she was ugly. She hated herself to the point where she embraced hr horrible appearance (shes actually very beautiful) and made herself into a dark gothic woman. Her dreads represent the snakes the original Medusa was given. She wears a mask to hide her horrible, ugly face. She wears lots of clothes to protect people and keep them from turning into stone. And she never looks into anyones eyes. Her childhood was full or suffering until she learned how to keep people safe. Now shes and agent.

Powers: Telekinesis she is able to move objects with her mind and can lift 20 tons with this power. she can also levitate herself allowing herself to fly.

Bio: On the day Athena was to be born her father went mad accusing her mother of cheating on him and for that her father attempted to kill Athena's mother. The man took his own life and the woman held on to hers with everything she had, as fate would have it some one heard the screaming woman. The woman was rushed to the hospital and the baby was saved but unfortunately for both the woman died giving birth, the last anyone seen of the baby was when a man dressed in black came and picked her up. Athena's only has memories is of the lab she grew up in with the horrible testing that nearly pushes her over to death but she remains strong and focused knowing one day she would soon be set free.

Age: 26
Powers: Electrokinesis - Lightning blasts, EMPs, Shaping lightning into different form temporarily (like a weapon, or shield, of a body projection) teleportation (only within ten metres of himself).

Bio: Project Zeus was an orphan, picked up from the orphanage by Cronus. He has lived with Cronus his entire life. As time went on he became joined by other people, all of whom were experimented on, as he was. Following the path of the mythical Zeus, Project Zeus became a leader of sorts to the the others. It was Zeus who orchestrated the escape, so that his comrades could at least attempt a 'normal life'. Even now, on the run, he feels responsible for the others, no matter how the feel about him, and checks up on each of them often. Despite caring about the others like a father or older sibling, Zeus does have a nasty temper, and will snap if pushed too far, even if by his own brethren.

How's that. I was a bit pretentious with the 'leader' and 'planned the escape' stuff, but that's how it happened in the myth.

Age: 20
Powers: Ares has the power of turning anthing into a weapon that he touches as long as weight and length do not increase.

Bio: Ares was the son of a professional killer. His father had him trained in different fighting styles from an early age. There wasn't any real love between them. To his father, Ares was somebody who only deserved respect when he had killed his first man. To Ares, his father was somebody who he blindly followed, deep inside he knew that it was to gain a sign of fatherly love. But it never reached that point in their father-son relationship. After a few years, the father attempted and failed to assassinate an important politician. He was to be executed by the electric chair. Ares was grabbed from the current hideout nearly immediately afterwards. Now, his only memories of that time are his excellent fighting skills and the mysterious figure that he had wanted to impress. For a while he thought that it was the lead scientist but he soon realised that it was somebody else, but who?

Both approved, both well done. And Mel, Zeus being leader and orchestrating the escape works perfectly. I'm glad to know I'm amongst others who know the myths. -nods- I have to say, this is already looking better than I thought it would. We'll be starting the RP thread tonight, folks!

It's come to my attention, and I do apologize, that I did not quite set the RP up properly in the thread, leaving little to no opening or explanation. I'm not really sure what the others were doing at the time, to clarify one question, nor what Zeus' meeting was about, as I didn't have Hades attend, so all feel free to interpret as necessary there. As far as setting, it's just a random city. Starting with the first day after the escape, and working our way through 'til whenever. As far as bringing other characters in, feel free to do so however you're comfortable. I'm not going to tell someone that their post is wrong, nor am I particularly picky about what you use as your introduction. After all, that's half the fun, correct? -smiles-

Another problem brought to my attention that I never clarified, sorry again, folks. The Projects have no effect on one another, powers wise, aside from being a minor annoyance. Again, sorry I'm making late explanations on things. Still fairly new to this, so everyone please bear with me, and thanks for making this one good so far, guys!

An aquatic field that could trap even a mammoth? I'm sorry but doesn't that sound a bit god-moddish to anybody else? I mean, if it has enough pressure to trap a mammoth then Ares has no chance of escaping. he will drown and that's the end of it. As you said: no struggle for a friggin' mammoth. Such force would force all air out of Ares' lungs, he'd try to breathe but there's only water, end of the story. That is if it doesn't instantly crush him. Just me though. If everybody else disagrees then I'll go with it and quickly post about Ares dying, alright?

i thought the same when i read about it not only has that also pushed aside the whole conflict between our characters.

You're the God of War dude, have some durability and strength, you shouldn't be able to be killed by conventional means outside of magic anyway. The God Of War should not be weaker than a mammoth so I don't see a problem with Phoenix's move personally.

May I note something? We are not the actual olympians or their reincarnations. We are humans that have been modified into something resembling the olympians. Also I don't know anything about the physical improvements apart from the powers that were stated. Maybe if Arsenic Synn could clear that up?

Poseidon never actually drowned Ares within the water but moved the water around them, it was like enclosing him into a room with spikes growing ever closer. Yes, that's a scare tactic, just like Hades could do but with more physical means. It's only a god mod move if I were to kill or strike you with enough power to kill you and without giving you a chance. :P But if your done with wetting your pants I shall call off the water.

I understand that you are reincarnations, I just figured that reincarnating someone in the likes of Ares would make them a bloodthirsty killing tank that is at least hard to put down. I read your power and I find that it fits Hephaestus the blacksmith more so than Ares. I figure he would have a tank package, superhuman strength and durability, at least a healing factor. I understand that this is the power that you were given, but just saying. I actually feel as if you all should've been given the chance to choose your own. That being said I don't want to have my opinion become misunderstood, I am in no way saying Arsenic is doing a bad job, or that he/she doesn't know what they are doing or anything like that.

But we are still powerful and have at least enough power to withstand quite a bit. If anything, I'd say Poseidon's only means of killing Ares would be to drown him.

Bio: Hephaestus was the son of an influential politician sadly his father was assasinated a month before he was born, driven mad by his death, his mother threw him into the streets and set fire to herself. As "chance" would have it a government agent was in the area. Now Hephaestus is a withdrawn individual with a strange attachment to flames.

I might be a tomboy but I still like guys and I can't imagine Poseidon being gay XD

You're doing quite well. Just act a bit less like you care alot for innocents... You keep on saying that you'd be first to agree with a massacre/fight but instead of doing so you keep on going crazy about other people engaging. Remember, Poseidon was a very competitive god.

Yeah but the being himself is not yet fully adapted with the Project Status. The further the RP goes the more like Poseidon he'll become. Besides we've only had once incident. Remember the gods were also very sexual (Zeus ****ed 3 of his sisters) XD

Keep in mind one thing: Medusa and Poseidon aren't exactly fond of Athena in myth (and the other way round).

In the myths Medusa was turned into what she is because she met with her lover (Poseidon) in one of Athena's temples. So actually this is for you to have sex with her.

I called my brother for tips. Here are some of the tips he gave me that I wrote down.

-Act a bit more prideful, guys have a stronger pride and refuse to take a loss.
-Changing stance; I take a unique stance but I need to have Poseidon stand more masculine (you'll see this later)

He also says Poseidon should kiss Aphrodite pervert
(He said more than kiss but I can't bare to think about that unless I'm playing Aphrodite, but I'm not girly enough to play someone like that XD)

Poseidon, feeling confrontational with Ares, will become romantic with Aphrodite (doesn't necessarily mean bed.)
Ares will discover this and confront Poseidon.
While this occurs, Zeus and Athena (ew) will have a moment of quick relief.
Poseidon will kill Ares and laugh his ass off then walk away.

EDIT: I thought that there seemed something wrong! Okay guys, seriously we have to shift how we're doing this. They are sending agents out to get us so we must assume they have some training to fight an Olympian like figure.
So far everytime that we run across an Agent we snap our fingers and he's dead, there's no challenge in that. I have 3 idea's of how it should change in the RP.

1. We shouldn't be so strong at least not yet.
2. There should be like a Synchronization Meter, like 100% Synchronization means that we are 100% like the Olympian we were named after. As the RP progresses side-effects like that progress. This of course also means that we become more powerful which is why it should start at like 15% or something.
3. The Agent's should be more advanced. If I were an agent and didn't have the power to go up against a target, I'd use advanced equipment which they clearly must have if they performed such a stunt on us and I would use tactical positioning to my advantage.

I know that I'll probably be criticized for it but does it seem silly to anyone else that these "Highly Trained Agents" run out with maybe just a gun and stand right in front of us and say "Okay... Come with us" .... "No" Dead.
We'll still win a fight yes, but we could put a bit more feeling into it. I mean if not doesn't it seem silly that we're running away? Why are we running if we're so bloody strong!?

DB said they werent the best so i only assumed they werent <- random

May I just note that things like that are part of pretty much every big story? Example: Star Wars' "elite" stormtroopers that don't hit anything.

But I agree with you Phoenix. However I'm not sure if they were able to mobilise enough men one day after the escape. They'll probably send better troops in after a few days... (Just me though)

Great Idea nix. only problem i see is how are they going to fight against the likes of Hades,Athena,Hermes and Aphrodite who powers are either highly long ranged,super quick

Well maybe they have a bit of resiliance. Soldiers fighting in combat (not-US) will sometimes drug themselves so they feel no pain, it could also be possible that they can delay the effects of like Hades nightmare ability. Aside from that, they don't always need face to face combat. If I were a mere agent trying to kill a powerful being I would use a type of long range, powerful weapon. We are still human so guns will effect us, perhaps a rifle of some sort from a hidden point. I see that we have several flaws with our characters as far as being overpowered.

1. As shown by Athena, we ALWAYS know where the enemy is. I'll admit I did it too but everytime an enemy is within range we just look at them like "I can see you ya know."
2. We kill hordes of agents in half a second just by sending out a low burst of strength. Maybe they use a type of device that can neutralize us for a few seconds; that way we need to have assistance to escape.
3. These agents are no "better trained" then a simple mugger. They walk up with no special outfit to reduce the effects of our abilities and they have maybe a handgun or something. The only REAL enemy we've even seen so far is Medusa and that's because DB is the ONLY person who signed up as an enemy Agent.

My solution to fixing things like Hades, Athena, Aphrodites, etc power is that we put limits on their lengths of use. After using an ability, perhaps it winds the user where they because highly fatigued.
Poseidon's downfall is that without water he's useless, put him in a concrete building and he's really just a human (until he does the math that like 97% of the human body is water).
Which aside from that, there's also the fact that he has to hold concentration. If you break his concentration, he can't move the water (note: guys please stop referring to Poseidon as a water bender this is not Avatar >_&lt

Hades strikes me as he could be like Tobias from HH3. When his abilities are used actively he has the chance of sending himself into a massive nightmare; his abilities can backfire.
Aphrodite I say would just be put a straight girl against her XD but that's unlikely and probably still something around it.
Athena in this really just has telekinesis. If the agents were to send out a set of vibrations through the air, it could interrupt her own thought patterns and she wouldn't be able to think clearly. (confusion)

On another note, I like how limited Ares seems but his attitude and the way he is in combat so far show's him off like he's stronger. Perhaps have him advance as the story progresses.

Final Note: I just noticed o.o am I the "Nix" that you've referred to a few times Venom? I just thought Phoe(nix) and never actually thought about it much in the past.

Well the agents could get stronger as we go. Like they start sending out stronger ones that have been genetically enhanced, kinda like we have but not to our extent, with better weapons maybe some experimental ones? I do think we should keep our powers as strong as they are though. I mean our characters were in that lab almost all of their lives and the brutal training they would've went through there would've almost maxed their abilities, I think, but using their abilities could wear on their stamina or something like that. And I do think we need something to be working toward besides staying below the radar, cause we can't run forever. But this is just what I think.

I agree with "nix" so far. About Kitsune's post: the subjects seemingly only used their abilities against scientists and people picked up from the street. Thus they only know real battle in theory. Also they are most likely not at their full potential. Some things only come to the surface in certain situations.

For Aphrodite, her powers can't work on someone who's truly in love and with their true love.

Hermes, slow the dude down. Giving him speed comparable to Flash is making him insane and unbeatable unless everyone has light speed reflexes.

Hades, be Daredevil, the man without fear. His powers should not work on the fearless, courageous and brave of heart for they fear no man, beast or fate.

Ares really should have a different power. He's so limited and weak compared to the others.

Use technology to counter telekinesis, neural inhibitors, a beacon that drains Godly energy, let science trump this "magical" science.

i had an something like that in mind Phoenix 3068 thats why i created an agent with gadgets and stuff

I say they are no where NEAR their full potential. They were never truly pitted against a target of equal strength. It's like a game: When fighting monsters 20 levels below you, you may gain +1 Exp in a fight. When you fight against something that has such little combat experience, you won't be very strong. Aside from that, all of their training has been controlled. I use again the 15% example because as strong as they make think they are; they could still go SO much further. I think they will really start to realize their abilities after fighting against more Agent's like Medusa.. perhaps even among themselves.

I'm thinking about this all like a game. I hate games where everything you fight is a 1 hit kill because then there's no challenge. When you're in an RP and you start wiping out hordes of enemies without so much as a flinch, you hardly have to think. There's no challenge to it and you really take nothing from it. My vote is that our powers are not yet even recognized and that our enemies are stronger. As far as stronger forces go; I'm sure people who are smart enough to be able to enhance human beings into demi-gods MUST have had some kind of a safety protocol incase they were to escape. That's why I find the "Agents" that we're fighting now so pathetic in thought. One of us alone could have busted out of the place without even a fight; then if this is all that we're facing we could all just lay back on a hill and talk and if anyone show's up snap our fingers and they would burn to death. You have my suggestions I hope that someone takes them into consideration.

As far as our actual goal goes.. I've been thinking of this. Arsenic really hasn't announced much on the matter, so I've been wondering what we could possibly do. Perhaps our goals could lay along these lines.

1. Escape the view of the agents and scientists to regroup and discuss their next moves.
2. Become more in sync with our godly counterpart (Project Ares with Ares - Project Aphrodite with Aphrodite). The more in sync with them they are, would surely mean the more abilities that become available to them.
3. To be free from them forever there would only be two ways. Death or Glory. They would have to destroy the lab that they were encased in for so long.
4. Cronus would be the ultimate goal. He would be our ultimate enemy and therefore the true one pulling the strings (at least in our eyes). So our goal could be to ultimately defeat him.... or get him to change teams.
5. From there it's just a matter of destroying all the research facilities that could possibly be out for us. Of course we can't do any of this yet because we lack both the knowledge and the power to overtake that and we have to go with the assumption that Cronus is more powerful than all of the Projects.

Good job Nix. Nate I agree with most but the Aphrodite weakness. Her main weakness as shown already is that she physically weaker than the others.Then I guess it would depend on which part of her power set we are talking about. Her defense that couldn't be a weakness.

Now I guess this means we better start fighting Sirens,Minotaurs, and such like

I was playing Magna Carta 2 and there are these things called "Sentinel". This is a universal monster in the meaning that there are millions of different types through millions of different games. In this game, Sentinels are monsters of extreme power that are created by 3 factors.

1. Human Body.
2. Monster Body.
3. Blood Pact.

It's a form of bringing the two together than using a powerful magic to form the monster. If you use someone like Cronus as a base for magic all that you need to think of is using the DNA from things like Minotaurs which could have existed back like the Olympians did and combining it with a human subject like the Agents or Scientists. I was thinking; that could be something that could be on an equal playing field with the Olympian Projects. We would defeat them of course but the battle itself would be one that would go into great detail and possibly having lasting odds. When you think about it; it does seem logical that they would send stuff like that at us. But still that's just my opinion and I do have the MG2 Fever :P

What power should Ares have? Actually I think the idea is good but it does seem a bit weak compared to the others...

as the god of war I'll state what I remember Wei said which is a healing factor.

I personally lke his current power but i agree he needs more since he's the god of war. He needs to stronger than most of them, he should heal factor.

lol think of him like Kratos! XD Give him some killer armor, huge muscles, blades and what not.

His current power is horrible in my opinion and it's too luck/plot based. In a real life situation he would be screwed 9/10 times. "Damnit! I wish I had a halberd but this broom is too light and small!" That power fits the Heph guy better and it shouldn't be limited to equaling the size and shape of the item.

Ares should be the tank, super strength, enhanced durability, a healing factor. Ares should be the hardest one to put down physically. Make him more brutal, grabbing someone, literally curbstompping them into the ground and then using their recently dead body to beat the rest of the enemies. When I see Ares I don't think about matter manipulation, I see a hardened warrior, ready for the next battle, doing stuff his own way and even betraying the others or fighting against them just to satisfy his bloodlust. It doesn't matter if they all live or die so long as he is given a warriors death.

Why can't he just carry an axe or something with him? Better to have your own weapon that has been baptized in the blood of many enemies than have to keep creating different things from random objects. No matter what that power fits a blacksmith better, way more logical. Ares' whole body should be a weapon.

I say he keeps an object of some sort with him at all times that can fit to form a variety of weapons at his will.

i agree nix.though Hep was the backsmith god but his cults worshiped him more as his fire god side. I think the idea posted by nix is great. Just carry a few objects and shift them into swords and axes and such like. As for our twin gods shouldn't both Apollo and Artimis be using bow's at some point in time. And where is our Apollo at anyway

He is the main sun god because he is the god of light just as artemis is the moon goddess.Though Apollo had other traits also such as music and healing. Artemis of course hunting.which is funny that the main 13 gods all are over other things also just a Poseidon can cause earthquakes also. Though Hera or Hermes has the most sub rankings
