After a year of waiting for this awesome match up of the 2 best fighters in the UFC's HW division it will finally happen for the title next year maybe March or April.

Im picking JDS via a spectacular right uppercut TKO in RD2

So who do you have your money on?

Cain or JDS?

Darth Angel
I don't know, a wrestler against a guy with above average boxing who practices a bit of jiu jitsu.

Ah crap, who cares, MMA is losing all the fun, all I see now is a UFC full of boring matches between wrestlers who spent a couple of hours in a Mcdojo learning other MAs. I miss pride...

majid86
I disagree with you, i think JDS has the best striking skills in the UFC 's HW division and not to mention the best TDD and he's a black belt in BJJ under Nogueira.

But im not losing hope for Cain if this fight goes past the 3rd round.

Never said he wasn't arguably the best striker of UFC in HW, just wanted to point out how most of them are weaker then the average boxer.

And yeah, as batdude already said, brown belt

Cain via too many options. Also, JDS seemed to gas out against Nelson. Cain never gases out.

batdude123
Cain has only gone to a 3-round decision once in his entire UFC career. And even then, outside of a few punches that he got hit with, he was dominating the entire time. The idea that Cain has an "unlimited gas tank" is, quite frankly, hearsay. JDS is someone that's going to be able to test Cain's limits as a fighter for rounds on end.

The only reason JDS looked somewhat sluggish after the fight with Nelson is because he was unloading power shot after power shot on him for 3 straight rounds. No other fighter in the heavyweight division would be able to replicate what Nelson did that night and absorb that kind of continual assault. We've seen the kind of devastating KO power that JDS brings to the table.

I'm not even suggesting that JDS wins the fight, but cardio is not going to be a determining factor.

I disagree!

Hes a Country boy, thats for sure. I picked that for fight of the night. I dont think he would last the same way vs Carwin though. If Roy takes him down, he has a chance winning against Carwin.

I'm routing for Cain Velasquez on this one..

As said above, he has too many options.

And his track record proves just how skilled and versatile he really is.

JDS by KO in Round 1

I think the long lay off will deeply afect Cain' ability

Darth Angel
Ahaha, funny to see my 7 months' opinion. The HW division is getting much more fun right now thanks to SF.

Anyway, as I have been saying for a couple months from now, JDS is more accomplished MMA fighter then Cain. He fought most of the big names, had Werdum has his FIRST UFC fight and he pretty much cleaned the UFC HW division by himself.

Also, Cain only fought 2 big names, a Big Nog who is FAR from his prime right now and Brock, a guy who shouldn't have been the HW champion to begining with, I can think of at least 5 or 6 HW's who can beat them, I also think that the improved cardio version of Carwin would murder Brock (in fact, I can say I am more impressed with Carwin's defeat to Cigano then most of his victories).

Also, while Cain looks good, I think JDS has the right tools to beat him, meaning better stand up with powerful punches, something Cain doesn't like (see the Kongo fight, he was dropped more then once and didn't even take that much damage). And Cain comes from a injury, which really doesn't help with your performances.

So with all this, JDS will be the favourite. Also, I want to point out how the UFC HW division has been in the dark ages like forever. 2 guys with barely over 20 fights when you combine both their records TOGETHER are the 2 best fighters of the division. That says something.

NO HE WONT!

If this was a race war then i'll overly pick Cain over JDS but it isnt so i got JDS by ko'ing Cain on his suspect chin, i mean if Kongo dropped him then what do you expect JDS to do to him?

Agree..

way to many options. I agree, JDS is and excellent striker but people forget that cain is a great striker too.... he is just more aggressive. On top of being easily one of the best wrestlers in the heavyweight division, if not the best.

I actually thought Cigano would KO Cain in the 2nd or maybe 3rd round before he would get gassed out but man did he proved me wrong.
The overhand right hook he landed on Cain's temple was a total BOMB and i knew Cain could no way in hell recover from it.

And what the bloody hell was Cain thinking of when he decided to go toe to toe with Cigano?!
He should of kept his distance, throw some combos and gone for more takedowns so that he would put his high pace on Cigano which would of helped him in the later rounds.

Congrats to Cigano, he knew exactly how to finish off Cain quick and easy.

StarCraft2
What was Cain thinking?

Countering that over hand but missed

jab cross leg kick (the american kickboxing academy gym emphasizes on this WAY TOO MUCH!!!)

Cain did try to do a take down but it was defended well.

I saw Cain sparred with Lyoto Machida last year (preparing for Brock Fight) and Cain out strike Lyoto by far.

Cain is a good striker.

Insomniatric
I got Two Saints by KO.

guy222
junior should've been better prepared

cain woo hoo

TheOneOfMortis
I was rooting for Cain and I';m glad he won (though I did feel pretty bad for Junior afterwards, especially considering he's a pretty good guy). But that being said you've gotta think that skillwise Junior has what it takes to emerge the victor out of the two of them. His defencive wrestling looked absolutely amazing in the fight, as did his chin, we know he has power and is one of the most skilled strikers at HW. Not sure what went wrong but I dont think he was his usual self for sure. After the fight at the hospital he was saying that he was maybe thinking too much about the takedown and that he should have relied on his Jits a bit more, and I really have gotta agree. When he was fresh he was basically not being held down, so if he didn;t focus ond efending the takedown so much and just freed up his stirking, I think he culd have finished the fight like he did the first time (especially consideirng this is eavyweight we are talking about, and Junior is one of the harder hitters in the division, and Cain doesnt have the best chin at HW).

Insomniatric
Looks like I was wrong. That sucks, haven't been this bummed by a fight since Machida got choked by Jones.

JDS stayed in the fight like a champion though, no wonder why he walks out to Rocky music.

Felt really bad for him after the fight. He was like "Why are you guys doing that?" as the assholes in the crowd were booing him after he lost his belt and gave everything he had for 25 minutes.

I can't wait until Junior is back in action, he's a great fighter and a great person. I would really like to see a rubber match. If Cain beats him again, more power to him, but I'm pulling for my boy Junior all the way.
