That's because JJ/Fury never merged powers, only consciousness.
They were fused metaphysically, yet they're powers/abilities were separate.
Aside from giving JJ subliminal suggestions, they didn't compliment each other otherwise.

I really wish they had merged powers.

Anyway, MJJ doesn't need the Fury ... MJJ is God! (within his warp)
