Beside the actors and actesses being all underage do you think it makes teens want to do the stuff they do on that show or not?To me it does for no one is really facing any side efforts of using drugs and so on.What are your thoughts?

Darth Piggott
I think shows like Teen Mom inspires teens and young adults to try and have children at an early age. They see these 15 year olds and what not having and raising children, and think they can do it also.

ADarksideJedi
I argee and because of that both shows should be not on tv anymore.

MildPossession
If you don't like it, don't watch the bloody thing. Why shouldn't it be on television...

I don't know about the American version, but the British original series is into its 5th series here, and it is well liked.

Welcome to the real world - teenagers have sex, take drugs, get drunk and so on.

If you have a problem with this sort of thing, don't watch Skins, quite simple isn't it.

BruceSkywalker
i have seen a few shows.. the cast should take acting lessons

Darth Piggott
I just looked up MTV Skins and I didn't realize you were talking about an actual show. I was just mentioning MTV's Teen Mom, but I've never heard of Skins until now. Apparently the ratings haven't been doing so good here though.

ADarksideJedi
I had stopped watching it after seeing one of them.My point is that it should be teaching teens a lesson on drugs and sex and not be pushing it on kids.

MildPossession
Why should it? it's not a documentary. Not the makers fault that their FICTIONAL show might influence some idiotic teenagers who can't think for themselves to copy the characters in the show.

Saying that, the British version of Skins shows negative effects of taking drugs and so on.

ADarksideJedi
The American one should do that as well. And almost all teens are idiotics so that is not saying much.

True

MildPossession
Don't judge and lump teenagers together.

ADarksideJedi
I am not just ones that I see at my job where they talk about drugs and who is doing who and makeout infront of everyone. It is hard to not call teens stupid when they act that way.

Darth Piggott
yea I know what you're saying, I was one of them

MildPossession
Well those are the teenagers at your work...

Teenagers have been doing all this kind of stuff before Skins came about.

Always blame the media...

S_D_J
I haven't seen more than the first episode...

It wasn't bad, it just that it was a faulty carbon copy of the original. the exact same plot and dialogue, just off... and highly censored

I've read the other episodes summaries, and they haven't stretch themselves far from the original plot at all, just some minor changes and characters (instead of traveling to Russia for a road trip, they go to Canada no expression )... it makes it all bad...

It's a tame take on the original, and that's what makes it suck

That said, I can't believed the outrage the shows seems to be causing in the States... I think the original was airing in BBC America... but it seems North-Americans won't be able to stand it if you can't even take a water-downed version.

MTV should just canceled this bastardized version and continue airing the original... see if their audiences can take a 5+ year old show that's probably the cause why brits are all wrong stick out tongue

I think I heard they were gonna make a movie, and the first generation will show up, can't wait for that big grin

MildPossession
What time is this shown on televisions in America, the remake series?

that depends, here in califronia mtv shows skins first at 7pm then again at 10 pm

MildPossession
7pm?! The original would never get shown at 7pm unless they cut A LOT out.

It's shown after the watershed here, the series that has just finished goes out at 10pm, it must be much tamer than the UK series, and people are still complaining about it?!

oh yeah its tame.. well you know how people complain about things when they have either not even watched it themselves or get on some sort of soapbox just to hear themselves talk

Mindset
Hopefully it ruins the youth.

MildPossession
Oh lots of very strong language in the British series, lots of sex but I can't remember much nudity from the teenage characters throughout though during the sex scenes in the way it's cut together and so on.

Mindset
There's a lot of sex in the US one.

S_D_J
There wasn't much nudity in the original... at least not from the main cast, but adult characters were nude from time to time.
wasn't gratuitous though.

... based on the US pilot, there's no nudity in it... dunno about following episodes

heck, one of the changes that bother me the most was changing Maxxie from a gay dancer to a lesbian cheerleader... doesn't make sense to me... even more so when Tony hooks up with the character, it doesn't have the same punch to watch Tony turn a lesbian hetero, than watching him blow a dude...

just imagine the outrage that would have caused in the US laughing out loud

Mindset
I liked the change, she's hot.

You are aware Glee, a "family show", has a prominent gay character, right?

S_D_J
I don't like the change because I found it was an easy way out. Double standards and all.

And since they haven't distanced themselves from the original plot, having change the character that way makes them hypocrites... a different story would have been if the plot was in any way original and not a word by word re-enactment

That whole thing with Tony, it gave the character and extra layer, whether you think he is cool, confused or simply a tool for doing what he did... and now the US version has him being so irresistible even to lesbians... no expression

I couldn't care less if they were to have written the "gay" character out completely if it was an original story, but a rehash like this one, it doesn't work.

Am I aware of Glee?
I love that show so much that I have every Itune song they've released... But what does that have to do with anything?

Mindset
How would a character on a MTV show blowing a guy cause an outrage when Glee isn't?

Pretty obvious what it has to do with the conversation.

S_D_J
hehehe

you didn't get it, did you?

I was making fun of how absurd the whole situation is. I thought the lol smilie gave that away.

People in outrage over a show depicting teens engage in situations that some (dare I say many) teens actually do in real life. Sex being the main reason... going so far as to call it Pedophile porn?... that's just ridiculous... add gay sex to that and watch the world burn!

Maybe you're just being naive... but just because there's a gay character in a really popular TV show doesn't mean the US has finally accepted there's diversity when in come to sex. It's sad to say it but true.

The producers of the show went the safe way making that change. It's ok to have lesbian characters because they're hot, lesbian making out is hot, lesbian having sex is hot (as long as you don't show nudity, mind you)... and you can easily had them be Bi and all is just peachy...

btw, Glee is a totally different show than Skin, you can't just compare the two just cause there are gay characters... and you wouldn't have something more than two male gay kissing in Glee... ever. That's as raunchy as it could ever get

Mindset
A lol smilie can mean a lot of things.

MTV had some lame show on years ago with male gay sex. They may have been in college, can't remember.

S_D_J
yeah I remember that...

dunno what it was called though

EDIT: just looked it up. It was called Undressed... I remember watching a couple of episodes... didn't really make a mark though

funny that was ten years ago... and still controversy arise this time and day

ADarksideJedi
I don't think it will stop until the show is off the air.But if it been running alot of shows in UK I doubt it.
