DeNiro
I give my vote to House of a Thousand Corpses. then in second place I give the title to either freddy vs jason or house on haunted hill
but deffintly house of a thousand corpses is my favorite by far
Evil Dead
boo..............
28 Days Later...........easily.
Jeepers Creepers (where'd you get those peepers) was supposed to be a horror movie?
O-Ren
Without question...
"The Others".

BackFire
28 Days Later for anyone who know's anything about horror movies.
O-Ren
I disagree, Backfire. "28 Days Later" really disappointed me. The first half was outstanding, of course. I was completely pulled into it, and enthralled. The plot was unique, and the story was truly suspenseful and mysterious.
But as soon as they got to the military base, the whole film degenerated, in my opinion. It became ridiculously formulaic, laughably predictable, and unnecessarily gory. The characters who I had cared about suddenly became ruthless and unsympathetic. Example... one of the army guys begs the hero to help him, and the hero just leaves him to be killed? And the little girl driving around in the car, running people over? Come on.
The final sequences of the movie just seemed like a shameless imitation of every other zombie movie ever made. It left a bad taste in my mouth, as I was expecting much more after the amazing and impressive first half.
wicker_man
In my personal opinion Final Destination.
in flames
the ring/28 days later
Punker69
The Sixth Sense and FD 1&2 and 28 days.

lil bitchiness
You nailed that girl!! (if you are a girl

) Very impressive...as thats exactly what ive been hearing about it...the lameness in which it turned into...
Have you seen Deathwatch?
h0ck3yh0rr0r
Red Dragon and 28 Days Later
DeNiro
I couldnt stand 28 days later I thought that it sucked all the way threw
my vote still goes to house of a thousand corpses
O-Ren
Thanks Lil B. I haven't seen Deathwatch yet. Do you recommend it?
As for whether I'm a girl, I'm not. But no need for the "

" I don't mind the presumption at all. I guess I should have expected it, considering my name and avatar. In fact, if you read my post and thought that I was female, I take that as a big compliment. Being pegged, based on my writing, as being the more intelligent of the sexes. And hey, I'm in touch with my feminine side.
Sorry for the confusion. It was not intentional. I just loved the film, and the character.

Mordecai
Without a doubt the crown goes to 28 days later in my opinion.
When he gouges that soldiers eyes near the end is one of the greatest moments in a horror movie i've ever seen.
Its so uplifting, yet so evil and dark.
Its great, 2 thumbs up.
slayer

wicker_man
The film you are referring to is The Haunting (made in 1999).
Vampiree
thanks

it was a reeeeaaaaaaaaally bad movie

DeNiro
Yea the haunting wasnt that good
SilverFighter
I agree with you on May as a good Horror flick. Not scary but the scene with the blind children and the broken glass was very disturbing. I don't think any horror movie has ever captured such a sickening scene.
eggmayo
It is definatly 28 days later, that film rocks
DeNiro
Dog soilders is also one of my favs
Lord_Andres
Freddy vs Jason, The Texas Chainsaw massacre (Remake), JC Vampiers 1 & 2, The Fog, The Thing, The Ring, and The Blair Witch 1
Lord_Andres

lil bitchiness

wow...my favourite member!!
Deathwatch is very different, in a sense that the whole war thing hasnt been done before...well not in this way anyway...
I mentioned it because it does the same thing 28 days later does...when i thought about it....
The first half of the film is very well done, then the second half if just....not as good.
Its psychological as well...which makes it better, its very shocking, as it also vividly potrays conditions of the WWI as well as the later killings as they arrive in that god forsaken trench, where the main body of the film happenes....
the cast is really good as well...
Id say see it, it does the similar thing 28 days later does, as i said before...
28 days later....hmm..i dont know, i might give it another go although im not sure my mind will change...
Dejio
Ringu, The Others, The Eye, Sixth Sense.
Although The Others is more of a suspense thriller kinda thing, still it's a great "scare" movie.
BackFire
28 days later's second half gets alot of flack from people (mostly people who don't really know much about horror films, from my experiences), but the second half was completely neccessary and only expanded on what the first half did so well.
I can understand why people don't like the second half, it's a drastic and sudden change from the soft, calm and touching first half of the film, which is basically used to develop the characters so we care about them when the trouble in the second half arises.
I actually thought the second half of the film was just as strong as the first half, it incorperated alot of the same ideas that Day of the Dead brought to the table, but it did it in a much more relevent way, while avoiding the cheesiness that Day of the Dead has. (Capturing an infected early in the outbreak to learn when it will die is much more believable then capturing a zombie several years after the world has been destroyed to try to learn something about them that will serve no actual purpose).
28 Days later also presents us with some of the most likeable characters, which are developed much more adequately then in other horror movies, you end up caring for them the way you would care for characters in a drama, not a horror movie that uses it's time to bad jump scares and needless gore.
Anywho, the second half of the film was, in my opinion, done better then in any other movie with similar happenings, it really caused my heart to pump very fast and got my adreniline pumping. Something very few movies do too me. Also the fact that we cared about these characters made their turmoil much more powerful then in any other horror movie, period.
All in all, 28 Days Later is the best horror film of the past 10 years, while it's idea and premise are nothing new, it's use of dramatic elements used to make us care for the characters on screen are nothing short of breathtaking in my book, and the fact that it does this without sacraficing any good scares or heartpumping suspense leads me to believe this will go down in history as one of the greatest achievements in the horror genre ever.

I agree with BACKFIRE, 28 days later was an excellent movie as was deathwatch and dog soldiers(brit horror is back baby) but my favourite is a canadian film called cube. Anyone seen the sequel?
BackFire
I have, unfortunately. An unnecessary sequel to a very strong original film.
samhain
yes it is somewhat confusing, there is too much paranoia and science talk for it to have the impact of the original. the original was a very dark film, it's successor almost destroys it's credibility.
samhain
I mentioned brit horror earlier on. Does anyone know of any upcoming brit horrors that we should look out for?
re_mx
Resident Evil freaked me out. I mean, I got really messed up nerves

and when I saw that movie in the cinema, it rocked! I've never seen any movie that scary.. ok.. there were some minor mistakes made in it. I mean where the laser net sliced that man and he fell apart into cubicles (it's kinda impossible - especially the eye part I think), but other than these little things, the movie still rocked! Now I just hope that "RESIDENT EVIL: Apocalypse" doesn't suck as sequels often do..
tabby999
yeah, Hypercube or whatever, what a peice of sh*t
Mordecai
I saw Cube the other night.
It was a damn good film, i loved it.
...My 2 cents *nod*
glenn
House on haunted hill, the ring, the others.
slashwristbarbi
I like The Ring, but May is probably my favourite. The doll scares the hell out of me!
Aesma
The 6th Sense and Ringu.
